Congratulations to all students involved in the 2017 SRC Talent Quest held at school last Thursday. The final acts entertained and astounded everyone in attendance. With acts including: joke telling, dance routines, skits and gymnastics, we really saw the diversity of talent across our student body. The positive vibe of the whole show was the best thing about it, with all our acts thoroughly enjoying themselves while performing. It was also fantastic to see acts on display from Kindergarten to Year 6. The way everyone embraced the day made it such a success and a pleasure to watch.
A well-rehearsed item performed by a group of Year 6 boys and Kindergarten girls was awarded first place this year. Official 2017 talent quest placings were: Winners: The Duck Song performed by Xanthe Shannon, Grace Wheaton, Maya Morris, Edward Brooke, Riley McDonald and Zac Lyall 2nd: Joke House: George Tait, Nicholas Tait and Archie Wheaton 3rd: Tie between the Flexible Gorillas: Madison Smith, Mia Doughty, Brittany White, Jayelle Britt and Bindi Crane and Gymnastics: Charlise Longhurst, Hannah Nation, Jayda Field and Shanelle Jones. This Tuesday we will be listening to our 2018 school
captain candidates present their speeches in the school hall, followed by voting from the student body. Interested family and friends are very welcome to attend, with speeches due to start at 9.30 am. Gundagai Public has high expectations of our school leaders in their behaviour, attitude and leadership and students are encouraged to think carefully about who they think will be the best representatives and role models for our school. It is pleasing to see so many of our Year 5 students willing to take on such an important leadership role.
2018 captain candidates are Jayelle Britt (absent), Bindi Crane, Mia Doughty, Jayda Field, Madison Smith, Cooper Ballard, William Murphy and Sebastian Smith.
2018 CLASS FORMATION To assist with the formation of 2018 classes I would like to know, before the school year ends, of any new families who will be coming to Gundagai Public School and likewise if existing families are leaving. If you are able to help with this information please contact the school as it will be much appreciated.
Please help remind any families planning to begin their schooling at Gundagai Public next year to complete an enrolment form before the end of the school year.

INTENSIVE SWIMMING PROGRAMME All students in Year 2, 3 and 4 will commence the first week of our Intensive Swimming Program today.
Remember!! 1. Towel, swimmers, sunblock and bag for wet clothes. Even if the weather
is overcast/wet still bring swimming gear. A decision to swim/not swim won’t be made until close to swimming time.
2. Mark all clothing with student’s name. It’s amazing how many socks and towels are in need of an owner at the end of the swimming lessons.
3. Should sickness or injury prevent your child from swimming a note for your child’s teacher is required.
4. Students should not wear their swimmers to school but should change into their swimmers at the pool. Students should change out of their wet swimmers before returning to school.
P
LUNCHTIME CRICKET COMPETITION WINNERS
The Stage 2 and Stage 3 lunchtime cricket competition came to a close in Week 6. Both competitions proved to be very competitive and very popular as over 30 students took part in each. The closeness of each game proved that the Australian cricket teams future is in good hands with some great skill and sportsman shown. Although there were two winners in the end, the competition was all about the kids getting a chance to participate in a game of cricket in a fun and inclusive way.
The Stage 2 final was played between Sixers and Thunder, with the Sixers winning in a close game . Star performers were Bailey Piper and Archie Wheaton, both contributing with the bat. The Stage 3 final was played between the Strikers and the Heat, with the Heat winning in another close game. Star performers included Zac Lyall and Joe Polsen, both having good all round games. Well done to everyone who participated and made the tournament a successful one.
STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Last Thursday Mrs Elphick and Mrs Jamieson attended an Inclusion Program for various sports. This program was facilitated by the state representative Murray Elbourn - Disability Inclusion Manager. The program was a fantastic way to become hands on and experience what it is like to step into the shoes of a student with disabilities. The sports that were experienced and could be adapted were cricket, tennis, AFL, Goalball and many more. The day was very successful and we look forward to including these adaptations into our school sporting programs in 2018.
