On behalf of all the children the NSPCC supports, thank you! I am delighted to share with you the news that Ms Saunders is expecng a baby and we wish her a healthy pregnancy as she prepares for her new arrival. Finally, we are trialling a new iniave - the ’daily mile’ - look out for a leer from Mrs Ward next week with the details . Ms J Corby PTFA The PTFA AGM was held on February 9 th and a few new appointments were made. Ally Carnie was elected as Chairperson - her sons are currently in Recepon. The new PTFA secretary will be Ashleigh Abrunhosa, whose daughter is in Year 3. Lucy Bahi whose children are in Years 1 and 5 will remain as Vice-Chair. Following feedback from a parent representave at the AGM, we will shortly be circulang a flyer which will let people know who is on the PTFA commiee this year. Aſter the AGM we had our first PTFA meeng of 2017 and we discussed acvies and events for the spring and summer terms. Due to the success at Christmas we are hoping to run an Easter Bake Off compeon and dates for the Summer Fayre will be circulated once finalised. We will keep you posted of planned events and dates over the coming weeks. If you are a parent helper with a DBS check, you should have hopefully received an email from your class rep asking for some details for the PTFA. We would be grateful if you could provide the details requested at your earliest possible convenience so we can collate a list for future events and acvies. On Thursday 9 th February, Year 3 held a Greek Day. We came to school dressed as an Ancient Greek or an Ancient Greek God/Goddess and everyone looked great because they put lots of effort into their costumes. Before Worship, we went to the hall to show off our awesome costumes. We then had an Olympic opening ceremony because the Ancient Greeks hosted the first Olympic games. Aſterwards we had the chance to try out lots of different Olympic sports including running, discus and javelin. We also learnt about the Ancient Greek alphabet and had a go at wring our names. Later on we had a scrumpous feast of humus, pia, grapes and olives. Yum! In the aſternoon we started to make paper mache masks because during the Ancient Greek mes actors wore masks when performing. This was lots of fun but also very messy. By the end of the day we were quite red aſter all of the fun we had! We would really recommend this day to everyone and wish we could do it again. It was a tough, hard game in the billowing wind but we stayed strong, trying our best and not giving up. The first half leſt us at 0-0. Mud flew in every direcon and salty sweat trickled down our necks as we hurtled down the soggy pitch. It was a throw- in close to the corner for Avenue which gave them their chance to shine. Unluckily for us, they had a shot and Treajure stretched as far as she could but was not able to save their first goal! 1-0 leſt The Avenue jumping for joy and us devastated but willing to fight back! We carried on without any more goals for either team. But at the last minute our luck turned against us and The Avenue scored the final goal of the match! We are concerned that the area around school can be congested with cars at certain times and that this causes problems with car fumes. In order to try and keep pollution levels down as much as we can, please switch off your car engine whilst waiting, particularly if on site . Many thanks.

Unlimited Vegetables!! In response to a number of comments in our recent parental survey regarding school lunch portion sizes, we are pleased to confirm that our caterers are now

able to offer unlimited vegetables and salad with every meal.

Borrowed items From time to time children need to borrow clothes from the office. Accidents, muddy puddles or dropped lunches can mean a change of clothes is

needed. We are able to accommodate most situations but we are struggling at the moment because items that have been lent have not been returned. If your child has borrowed items/ ever needs to borrow items, please help us by returning them as soon as possible. We are currently short of socks and pants (age 5-6, boys and girls), swimming costumes and towels for junior children and would be grateful for donations. Whilst on the subject of laundry, Mrs Armstrong has recently restored a paint- splashed yellow sweatshirt to its former glory by pre-soaking it in vanish - we were astonished by the results! However, we would like to point out that Mrs Armstrong is not available for service washing and we are not currently sponsored by vanish!

Thank you.
