Chamber Music Festival “La Belle Époque”An Exploration of Chamber Music from 1870 to 1920.The Shepherd School’s Spring Semester Chamber Music Festival highlights chamber music from the period known as “La Belle Époque” (also known as The Gilded Age). Dated from the end of the Franco-Prussian War in 1871 to the outbreak of World War I in 1914, this period was characterized by an atmosphere of optimism, a feeling of joie de vive and an era of affluence. Saturday will include works by Arensky, Bax, Brahms, Debussy, Dohnányi, Dvořák, Fauré, Franck, Janáček, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Tchaikovsky and Vaughan Williams. Hans Tutschku: nighttime songs from afarA sound and light installation by composer Hans Tutschku. Composed specifically for Twilight Epiphany, Tutschku’s
new work, nighttime songs from afar, will weave voices from around the world into a complex, diverse, and harmonious whole through an immersive sound and light installation. Tutschku’s premiere will take place on April 7 immediately following the Twilight Epiphany sunset light sequence which begins at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances will occur each evening following the sunset light sequence until April 23, 2018. Alice Pratt Brown Hall is wheelchair accessible. Assistive listening devices may be available upon request for Stude Concert Hall events. As a friendly reminder, the parking lot across from Alice Pratt Brown Hall is closed for the construction of the new music building. West Lot 2 is now the parking lot for all Alice Pratt Brown Hall/Shepherd School of Music events. The easiest way to access this lot is to enter cam- pus from Entrance #18 off Rice Boulevard and turn right at the parking gates to West Lot 2. For visitors with disabilities, acces- sible parking is available at the south end of the lot. This is the closest to a temporary side-walk that services the west entrance to the Grand Foyer of Alice Pratt Brown Hall.
