Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine Tuesday, September 8, 2015

PASTOR’S MESSAGE 3

Join the seminarians, our priests and staff for our annual full-day pilgrimage to the beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, WI. On Tuesday, September 8, 2015 – The feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Bishop Quinn will renew the consecration of the Diocese of Winona to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the Cathe-dral of the Sacred Heart at 5:15 p.m. It is our Diocesan tradition that we make this renewal every year on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary as an act of love and devotion to Our Lady. You might recall that it was in 2008 that Bishop Harrington conse-crated the Diocese of Winona to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In the very moment of conception of Jesus in the womb of Mary, Jesus entrusted His whole being to her. Similarly, by this act of consecration, we allow Mary to actual-ize her mediation, enriching our diocese with a higher degree of grace and greater likeness to Christ. We surrender the diocese completely to God and His service, giving the same yes that Mary gave when she bore Jesus in her womb. The act of consecration dedicates the diocese and all of the good works that come from it to Our Lady and her desires, in order to more fully complete the will of her Son.

We will be taking a coach bus and eating our noon meal in the shrine restaurant upon arrival. This will be followed by Mass in the shrine church, tours, and praying the outdoor stations of the cross. The cost of the pilgrimage will be $40 per person which includes bus transportation and the meal. Family plans are available. Please contact Mark Frederick at 388-2995.

Registration forms are available at Church entrances or in the parish office.

Pastoral Council New Members

If you would like to take part of the pastoral Council of our parish, please call to the office. Our meetings are the 4th Thursday of each month. You have to be a

register member of the SSPP. "A parish is a definite community of the Chris-tian faithful established on a stable basis within a par-ticular church; the pastoral care of the parish is en-trusted to a pastor as its own shepherd under the au-thority of the diocesan bishop" (Canon 515). Clergy, religious and laity together form a par-ish, a portion of God's People whose pastoral care is entrusted to a pastor so that all can continue the mission of Jesus here on earth. The People of God have differ-ent gifts, roles and responsibilities, yet all are under one head, Christ Jesus – sisters and brothers in Him.

No anda mariposeando, nerviosa y preocupada. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
