Background of CAD Contest
• Originated from Taiwan as a domestic contest– under the sponsorship of Taiwan MOE– since 1999
• Became an international contest at ICCAD– under the joint sponsorship of IEEE CEDA, ACM SIGDA,
Synopsys, Cadence, and Taiwan MOE– since 2012
The CAD Contest @ ICCAD• The biggest worldwide EDA research contest• ICCAD contest sessions drew big crowds!

V. AWARD CEREMONY
The award ceremony is held at an ICCAD 2019 specialsession. The session will give an overview of the 2019 CADContest, introduce the three contest problems to the commu-nity, announce the contest results, and present the awards to thewinners. The video clips made by contestants, which introducekey ideas and algorithms to the contest problems, will also beplayed and demonstrated. The Design Automation TechnicalCommittee (DATC) of IEEE CEDA will finally present areference design flow.
VI. CONCLUSIONS
The CAD contests at ICCAD have presented critical prob-lems and industrial benchmarks to the academic communityresulting in research breakthroughs and industry-academiacollaborations since 2012. The contest has become one ofthe largest world-wide academic competitions, and attractedover 800 international teams during 2012–2019. The publishedindustrial benchmarks have been widely adopted by academia, resulting in numerous publications. The contest keeps enhanc-ing its impact and boosting EDA research.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The contest organizers would like to thank ACM SIGDA,IEEE CEDA, Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Synopsys TaiwanCo., Ltd., Taiwan, and Ministry of Education (MOE), Taiwan, for the generous financial sponsorship. In addition to thefinancial sponsors, the organizers would also like to thankTaiwan IC Design Society (TICD) and Taiwan SemiconductorResearch Institute (TSRI) for technical consulting and enable-ment of required computing environments.
