PRINCIPAL’S WEEKLY LETTER: March 4, 2020 FROM: Mrs. Ruiz
2019-2020 School Theme:
Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).
Dear Families, The results are in! Congratulations to Andrew Wood in 6th grade who qualified for the State GeoBee! The contest will be held at the University of Washington on Friday, March 27, 2020. This is the second level of the National Geographic GeoBee competition, which is now in its 32nd year. This year, an estimated 2.4 million students competed in the GeoBee, with 8,661 students becoming school champions. Andrew, as our school champion, also took an online qualifying test through the National Geographic Society. As one of the 100 top-scoring students in the state, he is now invited to compete in the State GeoBee! Congratulations Andrew! On another note, some of you may have noticed that the installation of our NEW video surveillance system is complete! It is important to our community that we ensure the safety of our students and staff. Thank you again to Mrs. Flohr for writing the grant and to the Fulcrum Foundation for funding our need! Along the lines of safety, we continue to review and enforce measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus as a staff and with students. Please see below the best practices for keeping illness — including COVID-19 — at bay:
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid contact with people who are sick.
Stay home while sick and avoid close contact with others.
Cover mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash hands.
Other ways to stay healthy include: o Get plenty of sleep o Exercise regularly o Drink plenty of fluids o Eat nutritious foods o Manage stress levels
Please do not send your student to school if they are ill. Any students with a fever should be kept home until they have been fever-free, without medication, for at least 24 hours. Any student who comes to the office feeling ill, who has an active cough, runny nose, or fever (even a low-grade fever) will be sent home and asked not to return for at least 24 hours.

Please continue to pray for those affected worldwide, for healing, and for guidance from our health officials. Yours in Christ, Mrs. Ruiz Principal
