Bigger & BETTER Welcome to 2018 It has been wonderful to hear all the holiday stories from our returning students and fun getting to know our new ones. We have increased to 6 classes this year and added a new building plus we will soon be advertising the new position of Assistant Principal.
Kindergarten had a great first week with nearly all children making a smooth transition from Preschool. Tegan from the Drama Toolbox
team came to present an interactive puppet show called ‘First Day Jitters”. This helped the children to better understand some of the
anxiety they might be feeling in these first weeks and how to cope with it. The children were very engaged and loved all the puppet play.
It was lovely to see so many parents at our parent information evening. Education is a partnership between parents and teachers and produces successful students when we work together. Getting to
know each other is a great first step. If you were unable to attend this session and you have questions about curriculum or school procedures please enquire at the Office.
Over the summer holidays our Australian flag succumbed to the ravages of the weather and we desperately needed a new one on our return. Local Federal member for Barton, Linda Burney, came
to the rescue presenting a brand new flag to school leaders. Mr Ford promptly raised it up our flagpole and now it again proudly flies over our school. Thank you to everyone for making it happen.
This month two lovely players from the Swans AFL team came to participate in our fitness session. Angus Styles and Isaac Heeney who were supported by Jessica Atoui, spoke to the children and joined in the activities. It was fantastic that such local celebrities took
the time to come to our school. We acknowledged National Red Balloon Day on 28.02.18 by dressing up as our favourite community helper. The local Fire Brigade arrived on the day and the children were enthralled by the truck and the equipment. Stage 1 even had a turn using the fire hose and of course there those who managed to get wet. Lucky it was such a beautiful
sunny day. Through the generous donations from the community we raised $125 for the Bush Fire Brigade. Thank you for your generosity.
There is a new menu for lunch orders available from the Office. Please make sure that you know what you would like to order before you get to the window. Mrs Ford would also appreciate the correct money. Please do not send glass bottles to school with students as many have broken and this is a safety issue. Thanks.

“As we have a piano at Arncliffe West,
Barbara has indicated that it maybe
possible to have lessons at school in the
mornings. I would love to see our piano
being played again.” Vanda Quinn
