SUNDAY MARCH 11MADRIDToday's programme is a full immersion in Spain's rich artistic heritage. Visit Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Reina Sofia Museum), Spain's national museum of 20th century art. Highlights include excellent collections of Spain's two greatest 20th century masters: Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. The most famous painting in the collection is Picasso's monumental Guernica, a perpetual reminder of the horrors associated with the Spanish Civil war and a riveting anti-war symbol. In the afternoon visit Plaza Mayor, Madrid's monumental central neoclassical plaza. Built in the 17th century, Plaza Mayor has been used over the centuries for a multitude of events including markets, bullfights, football games, public executions and infamous "autos de fe" during the Spanish Inquisition. Ringed by shops and charming streets, the Plaza Mayor is a great area to explore in small groups during free time.

FRIDAY MARCH 9TORONTO - MADRID Departure from Toronto on our overnight (direct) flight to Madrid.

FRIDAY MARCH 16BARCELONAThis morning, travel by bus to Barcelona's Montjuic district, a hill located near the centre of the city featuring a large number sights and attractions, many originating with two major events that took place here: the 1929 World Exposition and the 1992 Summer Olympics. A fort, dating from 1640 commands a superb view of the city. The Joan Miro Foundation houses sketches, paintings and sculptures of the great Catalonian artist born in 1893. See the fabulous Museum of Catalonian Art located in the majestic neo-baroque National Palace, the central pavilion of the International Exhibition. Finally, explore the Poble Espanol, another remainder of the 1929 Exhibition, which is a collection of houses in different Spanish architectural styles. Tonight's farewell tapas dinner will include a 60 minute flamenco show.

THURSDAY MARCH 15BARCELONAThis morning continue exploring Gaudi's work with a visit to Parc Guell, an urban oasis with views across Barcelona's skyline and one of Gaudi's most famous achievements. In the afternoon, enjoy the beaches and Port Vell, which were completely redeveloped for the 1992 Olympics. Pass by the statue of Christopher Columbus, who reported to the King and Queen in Barcelona after his first voyage to the New World, and enjoy all the marina has to offer including the Maremagnum shopping centre, bustling wooden pier, and admire the yachts in the harbour! This evening we will attend Mass in a beautiful nearby church.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 14MADRID - BARCELONAMorning departure by train to Barcelona, capital of the autonomous region of Catalonia and one of Europe's most vibrant cities. Set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea, Barcelona is famous for its sandy beaches, rich culture, art history, architecture, and soccer team. After checking into the hotel, visit Barcelona's most iconic landmark, the epic Sagrada Familia designed by architect Antonio Gaudi and built in the 20th century, but not yet complete! Walk the famous Ramblas, the unique promenade that is the hub of Barcelona life where outdoor bistros and cafes combine with a lively street scene.

TUESDAY MARCH 13MADRID This morning, experience the grandeur of the Prado Museum. One of the world's top galleries, the museum began as the royal collection of the Hapsburg and Bourbon Kings between the 16th and 18th centuries. The collections reflect the personal tastes of the monarchs and include: Rubens, Bosch, El Greco, Velazquez and Goya. Afternoon visit to the beautiful Royal Palace. One of Europe's largest palaces, the Baroque masterpiece belongs to Spain's royal family and is used for glittering state occasions. Widely considered to be one of the finest palaces in the world, it houses priceless collections of art, armoury, and decorative arts from Spain's Golden Era. Set in spectacular formal gardens, the Royal Palace is one of the country's most impressive landmarks.

SATURDAY MARCH 10MADRID An early morning arrival to Madrid. Check into the centrally located hotel and afterwards enjoy a guided orientation walk on the famous Gran Via. This upscale shopping street located in central Madrid is known as the Spanish Broadway and the street that never sleeps. We will then continue our tour to Buen Retiro Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Madrid. This afternoon we will enjoy a paddle boat ride on the Retiro Park Lake and then dinner in a local restaurant.

MONDAY MARCH 12MADRID - SEGOVIAThis morning we will travel to Segovia where you will visit the Cathedral, Alcazar and famous Roman Aqueduct.The massive cathedral was built between 1525-1577 in a late Gothic style. The Alcazar, throughout the Middle Ages, remained one of the favourite residences of the monarchs of the Kingdom of Castile and a key fortress in the defence of the kingdom.The Aqueduct of Segovia is one of the most significant and best-preserved Roman monuments left on the Iberian Peninsula. It transports water from Fuente Fria River, situated in the nearby mountains, some 17 km from the city. Overnight in Madrid.

SATURDAY MARCH 17BARCELONA - TORONTO Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to Toronto (Via Frankfurt).
