Gasunie Vision: Future Energy Infrastructure

Future Energy System will be based on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind energy and biomass.

Due to high volatility of renewable energy sources the energy system will need a firm integration of gas and electricity networks (PtG and GtP).

Only gas storage (hydrogen and methane) will provide a solution for seasonal storage.

Hydrogen infrastructure will be developed based on partial re-purposing of existing methane infrastructure.

Global imports of CO2 neutral gases (blue and green hydrogen, synthetic methane, biogas etc.) to Europe will become an essential part of energy supply.
