H ow exact ly do you thank your mother for being your mother? I mean, ser iously… this woman carr ied you in her body for nine months; she endured back-breaking, ankle-swel l ing discomfort , s leepless nights, weird food cravings, drama c weight gain, and hormone fluctua ons that make pinbal l machines appear tame. That’s not even saying a thing, e ither, about the insanity of del iver ing you. You could tel l your mom ‘thank you’ from here to eternity and it s l l wouldn’t be enough to communicate the gra tude she deserves for keeping you ( in this abor on crazy culture) , carry ing you and giv ing birth to you. So where does that leave you on Mother’s Day? What’s your plan to celebrate her motherhood? This year, I wanted to drop some Bibl ical wisdom that you might want to take to prayer and share with mom this weekend (or any me, for that ma er) . and our earthly mothers. At the Women’s Center we rejoice that since last Mother’s Day, with the assistance of our counseling, spiritual, and material help, over 1,000 babies and their mothers were saved from

abor on. We thank you for your help. Are you looking to build your resume, meet new friends, or make a difference for moms and babies? The Women’s Center pregnancy resource center is looking for new volunteers to help Mondays-Fridays at our N. Cicero Ave. loca on in Chicago. 1) We are looking for a Wednesday morning and Friday

N ajważniejsza osoba w życiu każdego z nas, niezależnie od tego w jakim jesteśmy wieku, to matka. ilna więź łącząca dziecko z matką sprawia, że jest ona kimś szczególnym. Wysłucha, doradzi, pocieszy… Zbliża się dzień, w którym możemy podziękować naszym mamom za to co dla nas zrobiły i nadal robią. Ta szczególna data to Dzień Matki, w USA przypadający zawsze w drugą niedzielę maja. Tradycyjnie właśnie dzisiaj mamy zostaną

obdarowane kwiatami, kartkami z życzeniami, czekoladkami… Polacy mieszkający w USA dwukrotnie obchodzą to

święto. W Polsce bowiem Dzień Matki przypada zawsze 26 maja.

Wyraźmy więc w tych dniach swój szacunek, miłość do naszych mam, które kochają nas zawsze, bezwarunkowo,

bezinteresownie, niezależnie od szerokości geograficznej. Sprawmy by Święto Matki było dla nich szczególnym dniem.

Jednocześnie pamiętajmy o tych mamach, które już od nas odeszły.

Matka to dar od Boga, który kocha i kochać nas będzie.

Matka to bezcenny skarb, który strzec trzeba w nocy i we dnie.

Matka to na ranę plaster, kiedy jest nam smutno i źle. Matka to też czasem ster, który pilnuje byś nie zatopił się.

Matka to wiara w nas, kiedy zwątpienia mam dni. Matka nam nadzieję da, kiedy straszne mamy sny.

Matkę tylko jedną masz, wiec broń jej i kochaj co sił, Bo kiedy przyjdą gorsze dni,

tylko Ona naprawdę pomoże Ci.

Po raz drugi w Chicago obędzie się Konferencja Kobiet polskiego pochodzenia. W tym roku Konferencja odbędzie się w sobotę 20 maja w Muzeum Polskim w Ameryce. Tegoroczny temat Konferencji brzmi „The power of influence” – „Moc odziaływania”, a gośćmi wydarzenia będą wybitne Amerykanki polskiego pochodzenia: Jenny Milkowski – dziennikarka Fox News 32 Chicago, Dr. Dorothy Anasinski – lekarz periodonta, wykładowczyni w szkole medycznej UIC, Susan Sadlowski Garza – radna 10 dzielnicy Chicago, oraz Eliza Solowiej – dyrektor wykonawcza First Defence Legal Aid. Gośćmi pierwszej Konferencji były: sędzia Aurelia Pucinski, sędzia Diann Marsalek, profesor Monika Nalepa, Carla Knorowski, Dr. Łucja Mirowska – Kopec, Dr. Dorothy Prusek, Erika Wozniak, Maureen Pikarski i Lucyna Migała. W trakcie kilku godzinnego spotkania poruszono tematy związane z edukacją, przywództwem, zaangażowaniem społecznym i politycznym oraz odnalezienia się na rynku pracy. Pierwsza Konferencja została zauważona przez władze miasta Chicago i wyróżniona specjalną miejską rezolucją. Szanowny Księże Proboszczu, Szanowny Panie Prezesie, Serdecznie dziękujemy za wierną pamięć parafian w kościele św. Ferdynanda w Chicago o Sludze Bożym Stefanie Kardynale Wyszyńskim – za inicjatywę Klubu Dobrego Pasterza ui modlitwę o Jego beatyfikację podczas Mszy świętych. Z niecierpliwością oczekujemy tego wydarzenia, bo wszystkie potrzebne dokumenty zostały złożone już w zeszłym roku w Kongregacji w Stolicy Swiętej, ale Bóg wybiera pewnie dla nas czas najbardziej odpowiedni więc czekamy i modlimy się. Miniony rok był bardzo pracowity w naszym Domu. Oczywiście najbardziej wypełnionym czasem były Światowe Dni Młodzieży i wizyta Ojca Świętego Franciszka. Przez trzy tygodnie gościliśmy wolontariuszy, którzy pomagali na Jasnej Górze licznie przybywającym pielgrzymom. Wolontariusze oprócz swojej podstawowej misji mogli dowiedzieć się o osobie Księdza Prymasa i o burzliwym czasie w jakim żył. To byli bardzo młodzi ludzie w wieku od 17-25 lat. Budującym było nas widzieć jak bardzo byli zainteresowani, jak pomagało im to pogłebić swoją wiarę i ożywić patriotyzm. W związku z rocznicą 1050-lecia Chrztu Polski wzrosło zapotrzebowanie na publikacje tekstów wygłoszonych przez Ks. Prymasa i o Nim samym. Niemałym osiągnięciem było wydanie trzech tomów z roku 1966 z cyklu Dzieł Zebranych – są to kazania wygłoszone przez Prysmasa Tysiąclecia. Dom Pamięci znacznie wspomógł tę publikację. Ważnym było aby czas Milenium mógł być opublikowany właśnie w tym roku. Ważnym przedsięwzięciem było też sympozujum dla nauczycieli „Idącym w przyszłość” zorganizowane z Samorządowym Ośrodkiem Doskonalenia Nauczycieli w Częstochowie. Również wystawa pod tym samym tytułem gościła na murach jasnogórskich od maja do października. Jest ona zapisem kolejnych stacji milenijnych czyli miast gdzie Kościół pod przewodnictwem Prymasa dziękował Panu Bogu za Chrzest Polski. Muszę powiedzieć, że miłym jest dla mnie wspomienie tych pięknych i ważnych wydarzeń z 2016. Pokazuje mi ono, że dziedzictwo, które pozostawiła nam Sługa Boży Stefan Kardynał Wyszyński jest żywe i nam Polakom potrzebne. Ufamy, że niedługo będziemy mogli już o Ks. Prymasie powiedzieć – Błogosławiony Stefan Kardynał Wyszyński. Nasza działalnośc nie byłaby możliwa bez pomocy darczyńców. Dziękujemy

bardzo za wsparcie finansowe w wysokości $1,200., które nam Państwo udzielili. Jesteśmy wdzięczne Opatrzności Bożej za naszych Wspomożycieli i każdego dnia w naszej wspólnej modlitwie pamiętamy o nich. Na Jasnej Górze w Kaplicy Cudownego Obrazu Matki Bożej jest również sprawowana Msza św. W intencji darczyńców w każdą pierwszą środę miesiąca o godz. 7.00 Życzymy Państwu w tym 2017 roku obfitości łask Bożych i opieki Maryi – Królowej Pokoju, którą Sługa Boży uczynił nie tylko dla siebie, ale dla całego naszego Narodu przez Milenijny Akt Oddania w Niewolę Miłości – Przewodniczkę do Syna Bożego. „Pytacie mnie – co będzie?! Dear Families and Friends of St. Constance School – Welcome to our St. Constance School’s 100th Anniversary Gala…” This is how Principal Eva Panczyk began her le er to the a endees of the evening’s fes vi es, which actually began with 4:30 PM Mass last Saturday a ernoon and ended up with dinner, dancing, and one long-ago graduate of St. Constance School going home with the $5,000 grand raffle prize. What a fi ng way to close out the night’s agenda, even though when my wife and I le nearly an hour later, there were s ll several folks just si ng around talking and enjoying themselves. It was that kind of night. Wonderful. From the moment we’d heard about the event months ago, Gail and I were excited about a ending. More so, we encouraged people we knew with SCC connec ons to a end as well. I recall telling a few school moms and dads who I met when our children were in school together that they had to a end…that we had to celebrate the years we all shared there. The parking lot conversa ons. The spor ng events. The homework. The science fairs. The variety shows. As I told several people that night, “Just think of all the me, and energy, and money, we’ve sunk into this place…” And as one school dad said in return, “We couldn’t have made a be er investment.” Amen. It was too far for our son Paul--a 2003 grad--to make it down for the gig, and while his sister Sarah--a 2001 grad--is local, there was no guarantee she’d want to spend her Saturday night si ng

around with her folks and other (um…) older people. She did, though, and I think she enjoyed it. Perhaps inspired by her presence, I recalled a chat I’d had with a school mom fi een+ years ago, shortly before Sarah’s gradua on. With the mom’s son Paul gradua ng, too, the mom said she wished the class could just stay together forever. When I told a school dad of this memory at the gala, he said, “Well, she was right,” and I knew at once that he was seeing something I’d missed all those years ago. “Do not let your hearts be troubled,” Jesus tells his disciples in today’s Gospel, part of his farewell discourse to his friends the night before he goes to the cross. “You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house, there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be…” Thanks to school-dad Joe, school-mom Sophie’s wish that the class could just stay together forever took on a deeper--and eternal--meaning. Because in the context of our discipleship, this is the end game, of course, for all of us. I don’t want to gush, but the St. Constance School 100th Anniversary Gala was heaven-esque to me. Great food and drink. Great music. All of us together again, celebra ng the good. Yeah, Joe, you nailed it. Sophie had it right all along.

BAPTISM:

For Children: a pre-Baptism class is required for Baptism of the first child. Classes are held in English on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church, and in Polish on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church. Following registration, the sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in English on the second Saturday each month at 6:00PM and on the fourth Sunday of the month at the 12:30PM Mass. The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in Polish on the first Saturday of the month at 6:00PM and on the third Sunday of the month at the 3:00PM Mass.
