CAMPUS UPDATES: In fall 2017, IUP completed a $37 million renovation of its campus dining program with three new facilities

including venues with small group meeting areas and menus ranging from “make your own wrap” to an all-you-care-to-eat facility. A new science building is in the planning stages with groundbreaking tentatively set for 2021. IUP welcomed the fifth cohort of Sutton Scholars to campus this fall. Sutton Scholars can receive up to $2,000 each year for study. For consideration, students must domicile in Pennsylvania and have a minimum 1100 SAT and minimum 3.25 GPA. IUP is proud of a 90% plus retention rate for this group of outstanding students.

LEARNING SERVICES:

The Center for Learning Enhancement offers a range of programs designed to promote success including noncredit educational support services in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, biological and physical sciences, foreign languages, social sciences, study skills, and related areas. IUP also offers first-year seminar courses to introduce new college students to the expectations and requirements of higher education, including the College Undergraduate Success program, an early entrance freshman experience.

The Academic Success Center (ASC@IUP) provides information about resources available to students and academic advisors.

The Kathleen Jones White Writing Center offers one-on-one tutoring and group workshops in a peer-tutoring model of instruction.

Disability Access and Advisement provides services to students with disabilities of all kinds, including learning, physical, hearing, vision or psychological.

IUP's Labyrinth Center provides a comprehensive and holistic approach to support IUP students with Autism Spectrum Diagnosis (ASD) as they build relationships, gain independence, experience academic success, and graduate from IUP with the professional and personal skills needed to embark on a fulfilling life and career. Labyrinth is designed to be a multidimensional program based upon best practices in college programs for students with ASD and is committed to providing consistent and comprehensive services led by experienced faculty and staff. Specifically, student support includes a one-credit course taken each semester; academic and life coaching; supervised study sessions; and peer and faculty mentoring.
