2015-16 DALLAS MAVERICKS GAME NOTES PAGE 7

NO. 6 SEEDS VS. NO. 3 SEEDS: The No. 6 seed Mavericks face the No. 3 seed Thunder in the first round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. Since the current format featuring 16 teams was instituted prior to the 1984 NBA Playoffs, No. 6 seeds have gone 17-47 (.266) in playoffs series against No. 3 seeds. The No. 3 seeds both won their first-round series in last year’s playoffs (#3 L.A. Clippers defeated #6 San Antonio 4-3, and #3 Chicago defeated #6 Milwaukee 4-2). However, a No. 3 seed lost in each of the previous two postseasons (#3 Toronto lost to #6 Brooklyn 4-3 in 2014, and #3 Denver lost to #6 Golden State 4-2 in 2013). The Mavericks are 2-6 all-time in first-round playoff series as the lower seed (including 1-5 in best-of-seven series). The Mavericks’ only upset in a first-round best-of-seven series came when they defeated the Spurs 4-1 in 2009 (Dallas was the No. 6 seed and San Antonio was the No. 3 seed in that series). BEST-OF-SEVEN SERIES NOTES: Since the NBA’s first season in 1946-47, the team that has won Game 1 has gone on to win to win 372 of 483 (.770) best-of-seven series. The Mavericks are 6-3 (.667) all-time in best-of-seven series when they win Game 1 (compared to 6-13 all-time in best-of-seven series when they drop the first game). The home-court advantage is important in best-of-seven series, with teams with the advantage having won 363 of 483 (.752) series. Of the 483 best-of-seven series played in NBA history, 121 have gone the distance, with 70 four-game sweeps. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a best-of-seven series. In fact, only nine teams have been able to wipe out 3-1 deficits (Houston was the last team to do it, coming back from a 3-1 deficit in last year’s Western Conference Semifinals to defeat the L.A. Clippers in seven games). CARLISLE IN THE POSTSEASON: Rick Carlisle has led his team to the playoffs 12 times in his 14 seasons as a head coach (including seven times in his eight seasons with Dallas). He guided the Mavericks to their first world championship in 2011, becoming one of only 11 individuals to win an NBA championship as both a player and a head coach. Carlisle is 11-10 (.524) all-time in playoff series. He holds an all-time record of 58-60 (.492) in the postseason (including 28-28 with Dallas). HOW THE POSTSEASON ROSTER WAS BUILT: The Mavericks had another busy offseason in 2015. Dallas selected Virginia guard Justin Anderson with the 21st overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft, adding youth to its roster. On 7/9/15, the Mavericks added a prolific 3-point shooter in free agent guard Wesley Matthews. Dallas also made a trade with Milwaukee on 7/9/15, acquiring veteran center Zaza Pachulia from the Bucks in exchange for a future second-round pick. The Mavericks signed three-time All-Star and Dallas native Deron Williams on 7/14/15, adding a veteran point guard to the mix. On 7/16/15, Dallas re-signed guard J.J. Barea, a key player from the Mavericks’ 2011 title team who rejoined the club in 2014-15. Dallas inked center Salah Mejri on 7/30/15, making him the first player of Tunisian decent to sign with an NBA team. On 7/31/15, the Mavericks signed former Slam Dunk champion Jeremy Evans. The Mavericks re-signed sharpshooter Charlie Villanueva on 8/6/15. On 8/13/15, the Mavericks signed athletic big man JaVale McGee. Most recently, Dallas signed two-time All-Star David Lee on 2/22/16. The roster currently stands at 15 players. Eight of the 15 are in their first season with the Mavericks (Anderson, Evans, Lee, Matthews, McGee, Mejri, Pachulia and Williams). Two of the 15 are in their second stint with Dallas (Devin Harris and Barea) and two were members of the Mavericks’ 2011 NBA championship team (Dirk Nowitzki and Barea). Overall, Dallas has three players that have won an NBA championship (Lee, Nowitzki and Barea). Harris was also with the Mavericks when they reached the NBA Finals in 2006. The Mavericks’ two rookies, Anderson and Mejri, are the only two players on Dallas’ roster without any prior playoff experience.

2015-16 MAVERICKS REGULAR-SEASON NOTES Statistical research assistance provided by the Elias Sports Bureau DIRK MOVES INTO SIXTH PLACE ON NBA’S ALL-TIME SCORING LIST: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, who has racked up 29,491 points in his career, moved into sixth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list in 2015-16. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Kobe Bryant (33,643), Michael Jordan (32,292) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) are now the only players in NBA history with more career points than the big German. Nowitzki passed Shaquille O’Neal (28,596) for sixth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with a 17-foot baseline jumper over Andrea Bargnani at the 9:51 mark of the second quarter at Brooklyn on 12/23/15 (the basket gave him 10 points for the game and 28,597 for his career). He was assisted by J.J. Barea on the play. Through 12/23/15, there had been 4,043 players who had appeared in an NBA game (and Nowitzki ranked sixth in scoring among those 4,043). Nowitzki finished with 22 points in 37 minutes at Brooklyn (12/23/15) and made the game-winning layup with 19.2 seconds left in overtime (Dallas won 119-118). Nowitzki became the sixth player in NBA history to eclipse the 29,000-point plateau with a 3-pointer at the 10:22 mark of the third quarter against Philadelphia on 2/21/16 (the triple gave him 12 points for the game and 29,002 for his career). He also became one of four players in NBA history to score 29,000 points with one franchise, joining Malone (Jazz), Bryant (Lakers) and Jordan (Bulls). Malone and Bryant are the only two players in league history that have scored 30,000 points with one team (Nowitzki needs 509 points to become the third). With Bryant announcing that the 2015-16 season will be his last, Nowitzki, who was already the NBA’s top foreign-born scorer of all-time, also becomes the league’s active leading scorer. CARLISLE BECOMES MAVERICKS’ ALL-TIME WINNINGEST COACH: Rick Carlisle became the winningest coach in Mavericks history with a 103-93 victory at the L.A. Lakers on 11/1/15, passing Don Nelson (339) with win No. 340. He reached the milestone in his 561st game with the franchise (he went 340-221 in his first 561 games with Dallas). After Dallas finished 42-40 (.512) in 2015-16, Carlisle now holds an all-time record of 380-260 (.594) with the franchise. Carlisle, who was hired by Dallas in May of 2008, is the third-longest tenured head coach in the league behind San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich (hired in December 1996) and Miami’s Erick Spoelstra (April 2008). He signed a contract extension with the Mavericks on 11/5/15.

20,000 MANIAACS: Since 12/15/01, Dallas has sold out 596 regular-season home games, which is an NBA-best-sellout streak. Dallas has also sold out an additional 66 playoff games during that same stretch. The listed capacity for American Airlines Center is 19,200 but that can be surpassed because of attendance in the suites. Since moving into American Airlines Center (2001-02 season), the Mavericks have posted a record of 444-163 (.731) at home during the regular season. Dallas has sold out all of its games in each of the past 14 seasons (2002-16). The game against Detroit on 3/9/16 marked Dallas’ 600th regular-season game played at American Airlines Center. Coincidently, the Mavericks faced the Pistons in their first-ever regular-season game at American Airlines Center on 10/30/01. DIRK DROPS 40 AT AGE 37: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki poured in a season-high (game-high) 40 points (16-26 FGs, 3-5 3FGs, 5-5 FTs), including eight in overtime, to go along with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in 39 minutes in Dallas’ 132-120 overtime win over Portland on 3/20/16. He singlehandedly outscored Portland 8-7 in overtime (Dallas outscored Portland 19-7 in OT as a team). It was Nowitzki’s 20th career regular-season game with 40-plus points and his first since 1/11/14 versus New Orleans (40 points). Dallas improved to 16-4 all-time when he drops 40. Nowitzki, 37, became just the fourth player in NBA history to score 40-plus points at age 37 or older, joining Michael Jordan (achieved eight times), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (four times) and Karl Malone (twice). Kobe Bryant scored 60 points at age 37 on the final day of the 2015-16 regular season (4/13/16), making it five players in league history that have achieved the feat. Prior to Nowitzki’s 40-point effort against Portland on 3/20/16, the last player to score 40 at age 37 or older was Karl Malone in 2002-03 (“The Mailman” dropped 40 at Orlando on 3/12/03). MATTHEWS TIES FRANCHISE RECORD WITH 10 3-POINTERS IN WIN AT WASHINGTON: Mavericks swingman Wesley Matthews went 10-of-17 (.588) from beyond the arc for a career-high-tying 36 points in Dallas’ 116-104 win at Washington on 12/6/15 (he also scored 36 at Minnesota on 1/7/11 as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers). The 10 3-pointers marked a new career-high for Matthews (previous high: 8 at Sacramento 4/15/12) and also tied the franchise record set by George McCloud in an overtime game versus Phoenix on 12/16/95 (McCloud went 10-of-12 from deep in that game). Matthews’ 10 treys against the Wizards were the most by a Maverick in a regulation-length game in team history (Rodrigue Beaubois went 9-of-11 from deep at Golden State on 3/27/10 and held the previous record). Matthews logged a team-high 41 minutes against Washington and recorded six rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block to go along with his game-high 36 points. He became the fourth player in NBA history to hit at least 10 3-pointers, grab five-plus rebounds and hand out five-plus assists in a game (Ty Lawson in 2010-11, Stephen Curry in 2012-13, Joe Johnson in 2013-14). Klay Thompson and Curry both posted those numbers in a game after Matthews in 2015-16, making it six times it’s been done in NBA history (by five different players). Twenty-eight of Matthews’ 36 points came in the second half (he went 10-of-14 from the field and 8-of-11 from beyond the arc in the second half) and he scored 14 points in each of the final two periods. MAVS SET NEW FRANCHISE RECORD FOR MOST OVERTIME GAMES IN A SEASON: The Mavericks played a franchise-record 12 overtime games in 2015-16, going 8-4 in those games. The previous most overtime games Dallas played in any one season was 11 in 2012-13 (Dallas went just 3-8 in those games). The NBA record for the most overtime games in any one season is 14 by Philadelphia in 1990-91. Dallas’ eight overtime wins in 2015-16 were one shy of the NBA record (Sacramento won 9 in 2000-01). The Mavericks have now gone 14-4 in overtime games over the past two seasons (8-4 in 2015-16 and 6-0 in 2014-15). Only two other teams in NBA history recorded at least six overtime wins in back-to-back seasons. The Celtics accomplished the feat in the 1952-53 and 1953-54 seasons (six overtime wins in each season) and the Heat did so in 2000-01 (six overtime wins) and 2001-02 (seven overtime wins). The Mavericks’ 14 overtime wins over the past two seasons also mark the most overtime wins over a two-season span in team history (Dallas previously won nine overtime games over a two-season span from 1994-95 through 1995-96). Dallas won nine straight overtime games from 11/26/14-1/5/16, marking the longest streak of consecutive overtime wins in franchise history (Dallas previously won six straight overtime games from 2/26/10-3/24/12). The Mavericks played three consecutive overtime games from 2/6-2/19/16, marking the first time they did that in franchise history. Dallas won seven straight overtime games played on the road from 12/2/14-2/6/16, before seeing that streak come to an end with a 110-104 overtime loss at Orlando on 2/19/16. Only one team in NBA history put together a longer streak of that type: the Celtics won nine consecutive overtime contests on the road from 1973-76. Dallas had three straight road games go to overtime from 2/6-3/6/16 (at Memphis 2/6/16, at Orlando 2/19/16, at Denver 3/6/16), also a first in team history. The Mavericks averaged 13.8 points on 52.4 percent (54-of-103) shooting and 25-of-44 (.568) 3-point shooting in overtime this year. They were 8-1 when they scored at least 10 points in overtime in 2015-16. MAVS BECOME 1ST TEAM EVER TO GO TO OVERTIME IN 4 STRAIGHT HOME GAMES: The Mavericks’ 106-94 overtime win over the Timberwolves on 1/20/16 marked their fourth consecutive game at American Airlines Center that went to overtime. The Mavericks became the first team ever to go to overtime in four straight regular-season home games (1/5-1/20/16). What’s more, only one other team since 1951-52 had four straight home games (regular season or playoffs) decided in overtime. The 1984-85 Mavericks had their last two regular-season games and their first two playoff games go to overtime. Dallas went 3-1 on its record streak of four consecutive regular-season home games decided in overtime (Dallas defeated Sacramento 117-116 in 2OT on 1/5/16, lost to Cleveland 110-107 in OT on 1/12/16, defeated Boston 118-113 in OT on 1/18/16 and beat Minnesota 106-94 in OT on 1/20/16). The Mavericks had never had three straight regular-season home games go to overtime prior to this year.

2015-16 DALLAS MAVERICKS GAME NOTES PAGE 9

PACHULIA’S PRODUCTION: Zaza Pachulia had one of the best seasons of his career in his first year with Dallas. The 13-year veteran, who was acquired from Milwaukee in exchange for a future second-round pick on 7/9/15, averaged 8.6 points, a career-high (team-high) 9.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 26.4 minutes in 76 games (69 starts). It was his highest scoring season since 2006-07 (12.2 ppg in 72 games with Atlanta). He had his best rebounding season of his career, averaging 9.4 rebounds per game and pulling down 718 total boards (his previous best rebounding average for a season was 7.9 rpg in both 2005-06 and 2011-12, and his previous high rebounding total in any one year was 613 in 2005-06). Pachulia posted a team-high 26 double-doubles in 2015-16, which marked the most double-doubles he recorded in any one season in his career (previous high: 21 with Atlanta in 2005-06). Dallas went 14-12 in those games. It took him just 47 games to collect 22 double-doubles in 2015-16 (after it took him 78 games to record a then career-high 21 double-doubles in 2005-06). Pachulia entered the 2015-16 season with 80 career double-doubles (and now has 106). He recorded 16 double-doubles through his first 30 games this year, after he had 15 double-doubles in 73 games (45 starts) with Milwaukee all of last season. Pachulia also recorded three first-half double-doubles in 2015-16 (after he had two in his previous 12 NBA seasons combined). The Georgian center had several big games for Dallas this season. He registered a season-high (team-high) 18 points to go along with a game-high 16 rebounds in 31 minutes in Dallas’ 90-82 win over the L.A. Lakers (11/13/15) – the first time he led his team outright in points and rebounds in a winning effort in his 824-game career. He pulled down a career-high-tying 21 rebounds (career-high 16 DR) to go along with 14 points in 38 minutes in Dallas’ 115-112 overtime win at Portland (12/1/15). Pachulia also scored 14-plus points in five straight games (vs. Chicago 12/26/15-vs. New Orleans 1/2/16), marking the longest such streak of his career (he previously scored 14-plus points in four straight games from 11/1-11/7/06). The Mavericks were 8-0 this season when Pachulia scored 15-plus points. Pachulia collected 15-plus rebounds a career-high 11 times in 2015-16 (Dallas went 7-4 in those games), after he grabbed 15-plus boards 10 times in his previous 12 NBA seasons combined (his previous most games with 15-plus boards in any one season with 3 in 2011-12). He also pulled down 10-plus rebounds a career-high 41 times in 2015-16 (his previous most games with 10-plus boards in any one season was 25 in 2005-06). BAREA NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mavericks guard J.J. Barea was named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from 3/28-4/3/16. It was the first time he received the honor in his career. It was also the first time a Maverick garnered the award since Monta Ellis was named POW on 4/14/14 (for games played from 4/7-4/13/14). Barea led Dallas to a perfect 4-0 week with crucial victories over Denver, New York, Detroit and Minnesota. He averaged 23.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.8 assists during that stretch while shooting 52.1 percent (38-of-73) from the field and 12-of-25 (.480) from 3-point range. Barea led Dallas outright in scoring in all four games during the week and led the team in assists in all four as well (including ties). Barea began the week with an 18-point, 11-assist effort at Denver on 3/28/16. He followed that up by scoring 20-plus points in each of the next three games (26 vs. New York 3/30/16, 29 at Detroit 4/1/16, 21 at Minnesota 4/3/16), marking the first time in his career that he scored 20-plus points in three consecutive games. MAVS POST NBA-RECORD SEVEN GAMES WITH SIX-OR-FEWER TURNOVERS IN 2015-16: The Mavericks recorded only four turnovers at Denver on 3/28/16, marking their seventh game with six-or-fewer miscues in 2015-16. The Mavericks became the first team in NBA history to record seven games with six-or-fewer turnovers in any one season (since turnovers were first compiled in 1970-71). Prior to this year, the franchise record for the most games with six-or-fewer giveaways in any one season was five (achieved in both 2002-03 and 2003-04). Dallas committed six-or-fewer giveaways four times in an eight-game span from 1/26-2/6/16. The Mavericks had just one game with six-or-fewer turnovers all of last year (6 at Oklahoma City 4/1/15). Dallas averaged 12.8 turnovers per game in 2015-16 – the second-fewest in the NBA. It marked the first time Dallas finished the season ranked as high as second in the NBA in fewest turnovers per game since 2003-04 (when they averaged a league-best 12.2 miscues per contest). The Mavericks have now ranked in the top 5 in fewest turnovers per game in each of the past four seasons (2012-16). Dallas ranked fourth in the league in turnovers per game in 2014-15 (13.0), third in 2013-14 (13.5) and tied for fifth in 2012-13 (14.0). MAVS TIE FRANCHISE RECORD WITH FOUR TURNOVERS – THREE TIMES IN 2015-16: The Mavericks tied the franchise record for fewest turnovers in a game (4) on three separate occasions in 2015-16: 12/28/15 versus Milwaukee, 2/3/16 versus Miami and 3/28/16 at Denver. Dallas went 2-1 in those games (defeating the Bucks 103-93 on 12/28/15, falling to the Heat 93-90 on 2/3/16, and beating the Nuggets 97-88 on 3/28/16). The Mavericks recorded four turnovers in a game six times prior to this year, but never multiple times in any one season (they’ve now done it nine times in franchise history). None of the Mavericks’ giveaways against Milwaukee (12/28/15) resulted in any points for the Bucks. Before the game against the Bucks, the last time Dallas recorded only four miscues in a contest was 1/31/14 versus Sacramento. The Mavericks’ final turnover against the Nuggets (3/28/16) came on a shot clock violation at the end of the game (where they intentionally held the ball to avoid running up the score). BAREA’S BIG 2015-16 CAMPAIGN: J.J. Barea stepped up when the Mavericks needed him the most this year. The undrafted guard out of Northeastern had some of the best scoring games of his career in 2015-16. Barea posted nine games with 20-plus points in 2015-16, the most he produced in any one season in his career (previous high: 6 in both 2008-09 and 2012-13). Dallas went 7-2 in those games. Barea had just one game with 20-plus points in 2014-15 (22 vs. Utah 2/11/15). The Mavericks were also 5-0 this year when Barea scored at least 25 points in a game. The Puerto Rican point guard scored 25-plus points a total of six times prior to the 2015-16 season (he now has 11 career games with 25-plus points). He led all players in points and assists (outright or tied) in five games this year, after he had only one such game in his previous nine seasons combined. Barea shot a career-high 44.6 percent (317-of-711) from the field and 38.5 percent (100-of-260) from 3-point range in 2015-16. He made a career-high 100 3-pointers this season (previous high: 97 in 2012-13, 97-of-280, .346). Not only did Barea provide Dallas with a scoring punch, but he also created for his teammates. The Mavericks were 8-2 this year when Barea distributed seven-plus assists and 2-0 when he handed out 10-plus dimes. Barea did his scoring in bunches this season. He totaled 89 points and 27 assists over a four-game span from 12/23-12/30/15 and 121 points and 35 assists over a five-game stretch from 3/28-4/6/16. The Mavericks went 9-0 in those games. Barea led Dallas outright in scoring in eight of those nine games and he led the team in assists in all nine (including ties). Prior to the 2015-16 campaign, the most points Barea scored over a four-game span in any one season was 79 from 4/14-4/19/12 and the most he scored over a five-game stretch was 93 from 4/14-4/22/12 (with Minnesota). Over the four-game stretch from 12/23-12/30/15, Barea averaged 22.3 points and 6.8 assists while shooting 61.8 percent (34-of-55) from the field and 18-of-27 (.667) from 3-point range. Over the five-game stretch from 3/28-4/6/16, Barea averaged 24.2 points and 7.0 assists while shooting 53.9 percent (48-of-89) from the floor and 16-of-32 (.500) from deep. His impressive five-game run (3/28-4/6/16) came to an end against Memphis on 4/8/16 when he suffered a right groin strain in the first half and was forced to leave the game. Barea’s first big scoring stretch of the season began when he made his first start of the year at Brooklyn on 12/23/15. Barea posted a career-high (game-high) 32 points (13-21 FGs, 5-8 3FGs, 1-1 FTs) to go along with a season-high (game-high) 11 assists in Dallas’ 119-118 overtime win over the Nets. Barea followed that up with a game-high 26 points (9-14 FGs, 7-8 3FGs, 1-2 FTs) and five assists in Dallas’ 118-111 win over Chicago on 12/26/15. He made a career-high seven 3-pointers (7-8 3FGs) against the Bulls and even recorded the Mavericks’ lone block in that game. Barea racked up 58 points and 16 assists over a two-game span (at Brooklyn 12/23/15-vs. Chicago 12/26/15). It marked the first time in his 610-game NBA career that Barea scored 50-plus points over a two-game span. Only one other player in league history had his first two-game span of 50-or-more points at least 600 games into his NBA career. That player was Rory Sparrow, who played for seven NBA teams over 12 seasons and had his first two-game span of 50-plus points in games 764 and 765 of his career (3/2-3/5/91). Barea posted two games with 29-plus points in 2015-16 (32 at Brooklyn 12/23/15, 29 at Detroit 4/1/16). Prior to the 2015-16 season, his highest career scoring game was 29 at Milwaukee on 1/1/11. The 6-foot guard scored 20-plus points in a career-high four straight games from 3/30-4/6/16 (26 vs. New York 3/30/16, 29 at Detroit 4/1/16, 21 at Minnesota 4/3/16, 27 vs. Houston 4/6/16). Prior to the 2015-16 season, Barea had never scored 20 in more than two consecutive games. Barea averaged 10.9 points per game in 2015-16

– his third-highest scoring average for a season (he averaged 11.3 ppg in back-to-back seasons with Minnesota in 2011-12 and 2012-13). After the All-Star break, he averaged 13.7 points and 4.4 assists while shooting 49.3 percent (139-of-282) from the field and 42.6 percent (40-of-94) from 3-point range. Barea’s two big scoring stretches from the 2015-16 season are shown below:

BAREA STEPS UP AS STARTER: Mavericks guard J.J. Barea, who has filled in nicely as a starter throughout his career, was solid in that role again in 2015-16. Seven of Barea’s nine 20-point games in 2015-16 came with him in the starting lineup, including his career-high 32-point effort at Brooklyn on 12/23/15. Dallas was 6-1 this year when Barea scored at least 20 points in a start (7-2 overall when he scored 20). Below is a comparison of Barea’s stats as a starter versus a reserve (for 2015-16 and for his career):

RAINING THREES: The Mavericks went 806-of-2,342 (.344) from beyond the arc in 2015-16, setting new franchise records for most 3-pointers made and attempted in a season. The previous records were 735 3-pointers made in 1995-96 (735-of-2,039, .360) and 2,082 3-pointers attempted in 2014-15 (732-of-2,082, .352). The Mavericks had 10 games with 15-plus triples in 2015-16 – the most such games in any one season in franchise history (Dallas went 6-4 in those games). Dallas had only five games with 15-plus threes in 2014-15, the previous team record for most such games in any one year. The Mavericks went 19-of-41 (.463) from beyond the arc in an overtime game at Orlando on 2/19/16, setting a new franchise record for most 3-pointers made in a regular-season game (previous high: 18 on five occasions). Dallas made 20 threes (20-32 3FGs) in a playoff game against the L.A. Lakers on 5/8/11, which still stands as the team record for most triples in any game (regular season or postseason). Dallas shot a season-high 60 percent (15-of-25) from beyond the arc in its 132-120 overtime win over Portland on 3/20/16. It was tied for the second-highest 3-point field goal percentage Dallas has ever posted in a regular-season game while attempting a minimum of 25 3-pointers (the Mavericks went 15-of-25 from deep at the L.A. Lakers on 12/6/02, 15-of-25 from 3-point range vs. Phoenix on 4/5/09, and a franchise-best 16-of-25 from beyond the arc against Charlotte on 11/3/12). DIRK TURNS BACK THE CLOCK WITH 9 STRAIGHT 20-POINT GAMES: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki scored 20-plus points in nine straight games from 3/6-3/23/16. It marked his longest streak of consecutive games with 20-plus points since 2/17-3/24/11 (when he scored 20-plus in 16 straight games for the Mavericks in their championship season). During the nine-game stretch, the 37-year-old averaged 26.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks in 34.0 minutes. He shot 54.6 percent (89-of-163) from the field, 41.7 percent (20-of-48) from 3-point range and 90.2 percent (37-of-41) from the line in that span (3/6-3/23/16). NOWITZKI CAN STILL SHOOT: Dirk Nowitzki showed no signs of slowing down this year and produced yet another outstanding season in 2015-16. At age 37, Nowitzki averaged a team-high 18.3 points per game. He led Dallas in scoring average for the 15th time in the last 16 years. It marked his 17th straight season averaging at least 17 points per game. Only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (18 seasons) has averaged at least 17 points per game for more consecutive seasons than Nowitzki. What’s more, Nowitzki became just the fifth player in NBA history to average at least 18 points per game at age 37 or older. Karl Malone (2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03), Michael Jordan (2001-02, 2002-03), Abdul-Jabbar (2001-02, 2002-03) and Dominique Wilkins (1996-97) are the other four that have achieved the feat. Nowitzki led Dallas in scoring average in 14 straight seasons from 2000-14, before Monta Ellis’ team-high 18.9 points per game ended that streak for the big German last year (Nowitzki averaged 17.3 ppg in 2014-15). Nowitzki shot 44.8 percent (498-of-1,112) from the field, 36.8 percent (126-of-342) from 3-point range and 89.3 percent (250-of-280) from the line in 2015-16. The 7-foot stretch 4 joined the exclusive 50-40-90 club in 2006-07 when he shot 50.2 percent (673-of-1341) from the field, 41.6 percent (72-of-173) from beyond the arc and 90.4 percent (498-of-551) from the line en route to winning the NBA’s MVP award. There are only six other players in the history of the NBA who have ever posted a 50-40-90 season (while achieving the minimum number of makes in each category): Larry Bird (1986-87 and 1987-88), Mark Price (1988-89), Reggie Miller (1993-94), Steve Nash (2005-06, 2007-08, 2008-09), Kevin Durant (2012-13) and Stephen Curry (2015-16). D-WILL HITS GAME-WINNING 3-POINTER AT BUZZER TO BEAT KINGS IN 2OT: Mavericks point guard Deron Williams drained a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired in double overtime to give Dallas a thrilling 117-116 victory over the Kings on 1/5/16. Williams caught the ball in the corner with 2.3 seconds left (he received the inbounds pass from Devin Harris), pump-faked to let Sacramento’s Rudy Gay fly by, then buried the triple for the win. Williams’ 3-pointer against Sacramento marked his seventh game-winning field goal in the final 10 seconds of a game (first since 4/5/11 vs. Minnesota), but it was his first career buzzer-beater. Williams became the first Maverick to hit a buzzer-beater after the first overtime period since Michael Finley sank a 3-pointer as time expired in double overtime at Indiana on 2/13/98 (Dallas defeated Indiana 85-82 in 2OT on 2/13/98). Williams finished with a team-high 25 points (10-18 FGs, 3-6 3FGs, 2-4 FTs) in 43 minutes against Sacramento.

ANOTHER GAME-WINNER FOR DIRK: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki hit a game-winning jumper with 2.1 seconds left to give Dallas a 92-90 win at the L.A. Lakers on 1/26/16. Nowitzki received a pat from Kobe Bryant after sinking the 14-foot jumper right in front of the Lakers’ bench (Bryant, who missed the game due to a sore right shoulder, was on the bench in street clothes). It marked the 14th time in his career that Nowitzki made a game-winning field goal in the final 10 seconds of a regular-season contest (and the first since 2/24/14 at New York). Nowitzki’s other game winners (in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime) include: at New York 2/24/14, vs. Chicago 3/30/13, at Orlando 3/30/12, at Boston 1/11/12, at New Jersey 1/22/11, vs. Charlotte 12/12/09 (OT), at Milwaukee 11/16/09 (OT), at Indiana 3/20/09, at Philadelphia 1/19/09, vs. Utah 4/10/08, vs. Phoenix 12/28/06, at the L.A. Clippers 4/10/06 and vs. Toronto 2/25/06 (OT). Nowitzki actually made a game-winning basket outside of the final 10 seconds earlier in the 2015-16 season (he made a go-ahead layup with 19.2 seconds left in overtime at Brooklyn on 12/23/15 that put Dallas up 119-118 and proved to be the game-winner). NOWITZKI RECORDS 16TH CAREER 1,000-POINT SEASON: Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki totaled 1,372 points in 2015-16 (he surpassed 1,000 points for the season in his 57th game of the year at Denver on 3/6/16). It marked his 16th career season with 1,000-plus points, tied for the fourth-most in NBA history. Nowitzki has now scored 1,000-plus points 16 times in the last 17 years. He went 13 straight seasons with 1,000-plus points (1999-2012) before seeing that streak come to an end in 2012-13 after he was limited to 53 games following right knee surgery (he finished with 917 points in 2012-13). Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA’s all-time leader in 1,000-point seasons with 19, Karl Malone ranks second with 18, Tim Duncan ranks third with 17, and Kobe Bryant and John Havlicek are tied with Nowitzki for fourth with 16. Paul Pierce, Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, Shaquille O’Neal and Robert Parish are all tied for seventh with 15.

D-WILL POSTS 31 AND 16 AGAINST PORTLAND: Mavericks guard Deron Williams posted season highs of 31 points (11-18 FGs, 4-6 3FGs, 5-5 FTs) and 16 assists to go along with a season-high-tying three steals in 43 minutes in Dallas’ 132-120 overtime win over Portland on 3/20/16. Williams became the first Maverick to record at least 30 points and 15 assists in a game since Jason Kidd in 1995-96 (Kidd had 33 points and 16 assists at Phoenix on 1/12/96). “D-Will” recorded at least 30 points and 15 assists in a game for just the second time in his career (he had 32 points and 15 dimes vs. Orlando on 12/10/09 as a member of the Utah Jazz). The 16 assists were the most Williams collected in a game since 3/30/12 at Golden State (20 assists). They were also the most by a Maverick since Jason Kidd distributed 18 in Dallas’ 2010-11 season opener against Charlotte on 10/27/10. DIRK AND D-WILL CARRY DALLAS TO AN OT WIN OVER PORTLAND … AGAIN: After leading Dallas to a 115-112 overtime win at Portland on 12/1/15, Dirk Nowitzki and Deron Williams carried the Mavericks to a 132-120 overtime victory over the Blazers at home on 3/20/16. The duo was magnificent in both games. Williams (30 points, six rebounds, eight assists, two blocks) and Nowitzki (28 points, seven boards, six assists, one block) combined for 58 points, 13 rebounds, 14 assists and three blocks in the win at Portland on 12/1/15. Nowitzki scored the last five points of regulation, including a game-tying tip-in with 6.0 seconds left, to send the game to overtime. Williams (9) and Nowitzki (4) then combined for 13 of Dallas’ 19 points in overtime, helping the Mavericks come away with a three-point (115-112) win. In the Mavericks’ win over the Blazers in Dallas on 3/20/16, Nowitzki (40 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals) and Williams (31 points, three rebounds, 16 assists, three steals) combined for 71 points, 11 rebounds, 20 assists and five steals. Williams scored nine of his season-high 31 points (11-18 FGs, 4-6 3FGs, 5-5 FTs) in the fourth quarter, while Nowitzki tallied eight of his season-high (game-high) 40 points (16-26 FGs, 3-5 3FGs, 5-5 FTs) in overtime. It marked the first time since 11/20/13 versus Houston that Dallas had two 30-point scorers in the same game (when Monta Ellis scored 37 and Nowitzki had 35). Williams finished with half (16) of the team’s 31 assists in the contest. His two highest-scoring games of the season both came against the Blazers.

TWO COMEBACKS AFTER TRAILING BY SEVEN IN FINAL 1:20: The Mavericks came back to win two games in 2015-16 after trailing by seven points in the final 1:20. The Mavericks were down seven (96-89) late in the fourth quarter at Portland 12/1/15, but outscored the Blazers 7-0 in the final 1:19 of regulation to force overtime and come away with a 115-112 overtime win. Dallas also trailed by seven (116-109) with 1:20 to go in double overtime against Sacramento on 1/5/16, but closed the game on an 8-0 run en route to a 117-116 double-overtime win. Prior to the game at Portland on 12/1/15, the Mavericks hadn’t come back to win a game in which they trailed by seven-plus points in the final 1:20 since 1/18/01 versus Orlando. The same cast of players stepped up in both of the Mavericks’ thrilling come-from-behind wins. Deron Williams led Dallas in scoring in both games. In the overtime game against the Blazers, Williams poured in a game-high 30 points (11-17 FGs, 2-6 3FGs, 6-7 FTs), including nine in overtime, to go along with six rebounds, a team-high eight assists and two blocks (both in the final minute of regulation) in a game-high 45 minutes. In the double-overtime game against Sacramento, Williams scored a team-high 25 points (10-18 FGs, 3-6 3FGs, 2-4 FTs), including seven in double overtime and the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, to go along with four assists and two steals in 43 minutes. Dirk Nowitzki was also key for Dallas in both games. In the Portland game, Nowitzki had 28 points (11-24 FGs, 2-7 3FGs, 4-4 FTs), including the last five points of regulation to get the game to overtime, to go along with seven rebounds, six assists and one block in 37 minutes. In the game against the Kings, Nowitzki netted 23 points, five rebounds and three assists in 43 minutes. The big German hit a huge 3-pointer with 26.3 seconds left in double overtime against the Kings that brought the Mavericks to within two (116-114) and set Williams up for the game-winning three (Williams’ 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Dallas a 117-116 win). Zaza Pachulia was a beast on the boards for Dallas in both games. In the Portland game, Pachulia registered a big double-double with 14 points and a career-high-tying 21 rebounds (career-best 16 DR) in 38 minutes. In the game against Sacramento, Pachulia pulled down a game-high-tying 17 rebounds to go along with nine points and a career-high-tying five steals in 40 minutes. Wesley Matthews also delivered quality performances for Dallas in both games. In the Portland game, the former Blazer generated 15 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, to go along with five rebounds and two steals in 40 minutes. In the game against the Kings, Matthews produced 20 points (7-13 FGs, 2-4 3FGs, 4-5 FTs), including 14 in the second half, to go along with three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 43 minutes. Aside from JaVale McGee contributing a double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) against the Kings, it was the cast of Williams, Nowitzki, Pachulia and Matthews that carried the Mavericks to their come-from-behind victories over Portland and Sacramento. D-WILL’S FREE THROW STREAK: Mavericks point guard Deron Williams made 39 straight free throws to begin the 2015-16 season (his first miss came at the 6:20 mark of the third quarter at Oklahoma City on 11/22/15). It marked the longest streak of consecutive made free throws to begin a season since Jose Calderon hit his first 84 with Toronto in 2008-09 (Calderon shot an NBA all-time single-season record of .981, 151-of-154, from the line that year). What’s more, Williams’ streak was the longest to start a season in Mavericks history. Williams shot a career-high 86.9 percent (179-of-206) from the stripe on the year, which ranked 15th in the NBA. PARSONS PICKS IT UP: Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons, who had surgery to address a cartilage injury to his right knee on 5/1/15, was hitting his stride before another right knee injury (a right medial meniscus injury) cut his season short in 2015-16 (he had season-ending surgery on 3/25/16). Parsons, who began the season on a minute restriction, averaged 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 34.3 minutes over his final 30 games of the year (1/12-3/18/16). He shot 52 percent (204-of-392) from the field and 47.5 percent (75-of-158) from deep over his last 30 games. Thirteen of Parsons’ 16 20-point scoring efforts in 2015-16 came in his final 30 games of the year (after 1/11/16). Parsons totaled 87 points over a three-game span from 1/20-1/24/16 (30 vs. Minnesota 1/20/16, 26 vs. Oklahoma City 1/22/16, 31 at Houston 1/24/16), marking the most he scored over a three-game span in his career (previous high: 84 from 1/20-1/24/14). The 6-10 forward scored 15-plus points in nine straight games from 1/18-2/1/16, which marked the second-longest such streak of his career (he scored 15-plus points in each of his final 10 games in 2013-14, from 3/27-4/14/14). He averaged 22.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 35.9 minutes over the nine-game stretch (1/18-2/1/16) while shooting 54.3 percent (70-of-129) from the field and 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from deep. Parsons increased his scoring average in every month from November through February. MATTHEWS’ THREE-BALL: Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews knocked down a team-high 189 3-pointers this year (189-of-525, .360). He’s the only NBA player to have made at least 125 triples in each of the past six seasons (2010-16). Matthews’ 189 treys in 2015-16 marked the third-highest single-season total in Mavericks history. Matthews made at least five 3-pointers in nine games this year, including a franchise-high-tying (career-best) 10 treys at Washington on 12/6/15. The undrafted guard out of Marquette knocked down his 1,000th career 3-pointer at the 33.5-second mark of the second quarter at Atlanta on 2/1/16, becoming the 83rd player in NBA history to reach the milestone.

POWELL IS A RISING STAR: Mavericks forward-center Dwight Powell was selected to play in the 2016 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend, which took place in his hometown of Toronto. The second-year big man out of Stanford became the first Maverick selected for the annual Rookie-Sophomore game since Devin Harris in 2006 (Harris played for the Sophomores at All-Star 2006 in Houston). Powell (Canada) competed for the World Team in the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge and recorded a double-double with 12 points, a game-high 11 rebounds (5 OR), two assists and two steals in 16 minutes off the bench. Despite the nice showing from the Mavericks’ young frontcourt player, the World Team fell to the U.S. Team, 157-154. The NBA’s assistant coaches chose the rosters for the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, selecting four guards, four frontcourt players and two players at either position for each team. The coaches also picked a minimum of three first-year players and three second-year players for each team.

2015-16 DALLAS MAVERICKS GAME NOTES PAGE 13

DALLAS DOMINATES THIRD QUARTER IN WIN OVER DENVER: The Mavericks held the Nuggets to just five points in the third quarter on 11/28/15 (Dallas outscored Denver 25-5 in the third), setting a new franchise record for the fewest points allowed in any quarter (previous low: 7 in the 3rd quarter at the L.A. Lakers 1/16/12). Dallas opened the third quarter on a 16-0 run and held Denver scoreless for the first 8:55 of the period (the Nuggets’ first basket came at the 3:05 mark of the third). The Mavericks outshot the Nuggets 61.5 percent (8-of-13) to 10.5 percent (2-of-19) from the field in the third frame. Dallas went on to win 92-81. MAVS RECORD SIXTH-LARGEST COMEBACK IN TEAM HISTORY: Dallas trailed by 23 (55-32) in the second quarter versus Denver on 2/26/16, but came back to defeat the Nuggets 122-116 in overtime. It was the sixth-largest comeback in franchise history (and the fifth-largest home comeback in team history). It marked the Mavericks’ biggest comeback since they erased a 24-point deficit (44-20) in the second quarter against Sacramento on 11/11/14 (Dallas won that game 106-98). The largest deficit Dallas overcame in franchise history was 29 against Minnesota on 12/30/08 (Dallas trailed 70-41 in the third quarter but came back to win 107-100). GETTING DEFENSIVE: The Mavericks were 14-1 this year when they held their opponent to 90-or-fewer points in a game (and 13-1 when they held their opponent UNDER 90 points). Dallas was also 12-0 this season when it held its opponent to 40 percent or less shooting (and 11-0 when it held its opponent UNDER 40 percent shooting). Dallas tightened up its defense late in the season, leading to a strong finish. The Mavericks finished the regular season by winning eight of their last 10 games. Dallas held its opponent under 90 points in five straight games (all wins) from 3/28-4/6/16, marking the second-longest streak in team history (Dallas held the opposition below 90 points in a franchise-record 6 straight games from 1/7-1/16/12). That streak was snapped when the Mavericks allowed 93 points in a 103-93 win over Memphis on 4/8/16. The Mavericks kept their opponent under 100 points in each of their final nine games in 2015-16 (Dallas went 8-2 in that span). It marked their longest streak of consecutive games holding teams under 100 points since 2011-12 (when they held their opponents under 100 in 9 straight games from 2/20-3/8/12). On the season, the Mavericks were 28-7 when they held their opponents below 100 points. Over their final nine games of the season, Dallas held their opponents to 89.9 points per game on 43.7 shooting (.313 3FG). MAVS USE FOUL LINE TO PROPEL THEM TO TWO BLOWOUT WINS: Dallas went 34-of-36 (.944) from the foul line in its 26-point (129-103) win over Philadelphia on 2/21/16 (Dallas’ second-largest margin of victory in a game this year). It was the fourth-highest free throw percentage the Mavericks recorded while attempting 30-plus free throws in a game in franchise history (and the highest since 11/14/89 at Seattle, .969, 31-of-32). Just three games later, Dallas went a perfect 21-of-21 from the stripe in its 27-point (128-101) victory over Minnesota on 2/28/16 (Dallas’ largest margin of victory in a game this season). It marked the eighth time in franchise history that the Mavericks attempted 20-plus free throws in a game without a single miss (and the first since 11/26/07 vs. Washington when they went 29-of-29 from the stripe – the franchise record for the most free throws made without a miss). The most foul shots Dallas made in a game without a miss in 2014-15 was 18 versus Chicago on 1/23/15. The Mavericks shot 79.4 percent (1,454-of-1,831) from the line in 2015-16, which ranked third in the NBA. MAVS BLOWOUT WARRIORS: The Mavericks beat the Warriors, who were without Stephen Curry, by a final score of 114-91 on 12/30/15. It was the Warriors’ largest margin of defeat in a game since 2/5/13 at Houston (when they lost to the Rockets by 31, 140-109). It also marked the first time the Warriors lost a game by more than 15 points since 4/2/14, when they dropped a 21-point decision to the Spurs (the Spurs defeated the Warriors 111-90 at San Antonio on 4/2/14). Golden State's 119 consecutive games played without losing by more than 15 points tied the third-longest streak of its kind in NBA history (the Thunder had a 121-game streak from 2011 to 2012, Detroit went 120 straight games without a 16-plus point loss from 1996 to 1998 and Chicago avoided a loss like that for 119 consecutive games from 1991 to 1992). The Mavericks’ 23-point margin of victory was their largest over a defending champion since defeating the Spurs by 24 (115-91) on 2/26/04. Dallas, who handed Golden State just its second loss of the year on 12/30/15, was one of only nine teams to defeat the Warriors during their historic 73-9 regular season in 2015-16. D-WILL, DIRK AND MAVS ARE CLUTCH: The Mavericks were 6-0 this season when Deron Williams and Dirk Nowitzki both scored 20-plus points in a game. Both players were great in clutch situations (where the score was within five points in the final 5 minutes of regulation or overtime) for the Mavericks in 2015-16. Williams totaled 132 clutch points this year, which ranked tied for 12th in the NBA. He shot 50.6 percent (43-of-85) from the field, 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from deep and 90.6 percent (29-of-32) from the line in clutch time this season. Nowitzki, meanwhile, scored 123 clutch points in 2015-16, which ranked 16th in the league. Dallas was 25-24 (.510) in clutch games this season (games that were within five points in the final 5 minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime). The Mavericks outscored their opponents by 57 points in clutch time this year (the Mavericks were plus-57 in the final 5 minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime in games that were within five points). BALANCED ATTACK: The Mavericks had at least six players score in double figures 28 times in 2015-16 (they were 13-15 in such games). In fact, Dallas had five games with at least seven players in double digits (8 at Phoenix 10/28/15, 7 vs. Minnesota 2/28/16, 7 at Golden State 3/25/16, 8 at Sacramento 3/27/16, 7 at Denver 3/28/16). The Mavericks went 3-2 in those games. The Mavericks were also 26-22 this year when they had at least five players score 10-plus points in a game. The Mavericks had all five of their starters in double digits nine times in 2015-16 (after they had all five of their starters in double digits seven times in 2014-15). Nine players averaged at least 7.6 points per game for Dallas in 2015-16. BIRTHDAY BOYS: Mavericks guards J.J. Barea, Raymond Felton and Deron Williams were all born on the same day (June 26, 1984). What’s more, Felton’s North Carolina Tar Heels and Williams’ Illinois Fighting Illini met in the championship game of the 2005 NCAA Tournament (North Carolina won, 75-70). Williams (third overall pick by Utah) and Felton (fifth overall selection by Charlotte) were also separated by only two picks in the 2005 NBA Draft, each declaring for the draft following their junior seasons. EIGHT MAVS IN DOUBLE FIGUERS IN SEASON-OPENING WIN AT PHOENIX: Eight players scored in double figures for the Mavericks in their 111-95 season-opening win at Phoenix on 10/28/15: Raymond Felton (18), Deron Williams (12), Dwight Powell (12), Dirk Nowitzki (11), Zaza Pachulia (10), Devin Harris (10), J.J. Barea (10) and Charlie Villanueva (10). It was the most double-figure scorers Dallas produced in a season-opening game in franchise history (previous: 7 in 1982-83 season opener at Denver on 10/29/82). It was also the most double-digit scorers any team had in an opener in 2015-16.

FINISHING STRONG: The Mavericks have shown the ability to protect leads in recent years. Getting off to a good start has been important. The Mavericks were 9-3 this season when they scored 30-plus points in the first period and 23-11 when they won the opening quarter. Dallas was also 7-1 this year when they scored at least 60 points in the opening half and 29-9 when they led at the break. The Mavericks were 35-8 this season when they built at least a 10-point lead. Arguably the most important stat however, was the Mavericks’ record when they led going into the fourth quarter. The Mavericks were 31-6 this year when they were ahead going into the final frame (they began the year 20-0 when leading going into the fourth). Dallas was 36-2 in 2014-15 when they led after the third quarter. Below is a list of the Mavericks’ records when leading going into the fourth quarter over the past five seasons (2011-12 through 2015-16).

HEAD COACH RICK CARLISLE Virginia • 13 Years Head Coaching Experience Career Regular Season Record (14th Season): 661-471 (.584); Career Playoff Record: 58-60 (.492) Regular Season Record with Dallas (8th Season): 380-260 (.594); Playoff Record with Dallas: 28-28 (.500) Rick Carlisle is in his eighth season as the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. He was hired by Dallas in May of 2008, and is the third-longest tenured head coach in the league behind San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich (hired in December 1996) and Miami’s Erick Spoelstra (April 2008). Carlisle became the all-time winningest coach in Mavericks history with a 103-93 victory at the L.A. Lakers on Nov. 1, 2015, passing Don Nelson (339) with win No. 340. Carlisle has led his team to the playoffs 12 times in his 14 seasons as a head coach. He guided the Mavericks to their first-ever world championship in 2011, becoming one of only 11 individuals to win an NBA championship as both a player and a head coach (he won a title as a player with Boston in 1986). Carlisle recorded his 500th career win against Portland on Feb. 6, 2013 (Dallas won 105-99), becoming the 28th coach in NBA history to reach the milestone. Carlisle was named the ninth Dallas coach in franchise history on May 9, 2008. He joined the Mavericks after spending six seasons, with Detroit and Indiana, as a head coach. He served as an ESPN studio analyst during the 2007-08 NBA season before coming to Dallas. Carlisle began his head coaching career with Detroit. During his two-season tenure, the Pistons won 61 percent (100-64) of their games to go along with two Central Division championships and one trip to the Eastern Conference Finals. Following his first season as head coach in 2002, Carlisle earned the NBA’s Coach of the Year award. Carlisle joined Indiana as the head coach on Sept. 2, 2003. In his first year, Carlisle led the Pacers to the NBA’s best record (61-21), the most victories in franchise history, the best winning percentage in team history (.744) and a Central Division championship. He also led the Pacers to the 2004 Eastern Conference Finals where they eventually lost to the Pistons.

Carlisle, including his previous two seasons with Detroit, became the first coach since Pat Riley to win 50 games and division championships in each of his first three seasons as a head coach. Overall, Carlisle earned a 181-147 (.552) regular season record in Indiana and led the team to three consecutive postseason appearances before stepping down following the 2006-07 campaign. A native of Ogdensburg, N.Y., Carlisle began his coaching career in 1989 as an assistant with the New Jersey Nets. In five seasons with the Nets, he had the opportunity to work under Hall of Fame coaching legends Bill Fitch and Chuck Daly. Carlisle then moved on to Portland, where he spent three seasons as an assistant under P.J. Carlesimo before joining former teammate Larry Bird’s staff in Indiana during the summer of 1997. In 1984, Carlisle began his NBA career as the only rookie to make the Boston Celtics roster. He spent three seasons in Boston and enjoyed his best year as a pro when he averaged 9.9 minutes in 77 games for the 1986 world champions. He then played one year with the New York Knicks under head coach Rick Pitino before moving on to New Jersey, where he played briefly for Fitch before being offered an assistant coaching position with the franchise.
