Melovich and Guild Members.Quilted by Holli Acevedo.

The meeting was called to order at 10:08 AM by president, Trudy Schuricht. There were 18 members attending.
Minutes from the Dec. 1st meeting were read and approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report was presented by Dorothy Graves and filed for audit.
Correspondence: Newsletters from the Azalea Quilt Guild and the Redwood Quilt Guilt have been posted . A thank you card was received from the Sunset Infant/Toddler Center for quilts received. Christmas Cards were read from Sue Trigg and The Chamber of Commerce. A donation in the amount of $50 in memory of Margaret Civiletti was received from Christina Smith. A thank you will be sent.
Announcements: Our president regretfully informed the group that she must resign in order to take care of personal business. A volunteer was called for to fulfill the duties of president until the regular election in June. Judy Potter volunteered. A motion was made by Heather Scott, seconded by Holli Acevedo to accept Judy’s gracious offer. The motion passed.
Reports and Old Business : Dorothy reported that the DAR is renting the hall on March 5th. It was reported that our Christmas Party was a success, as well as, the Christmas Bazaar. The Guild netted $335.86. Cassie Simonson won the 2015 Cancer Quilt. This project netted $542.25, half going into the Building Fund and half going to Breast Cancer Research at UC.
“Color Explosion” is the theme of Quilt Show 2018. Trudi asked for members to consider volunteering to chair the 2018 Challenge Quilt committee.
Trudy reported that a donation receipt for $850 was received from CASA for quilts donated.
Sheryl Pattison reported that the ticket sales packets for the quilts “Alyssa” and “Seashells and Seagulls” are almost ready for distribution. The packet for “Carolina Lily” will follow.
New Business:
The exterior painting of the guild building was discussed. Sheryl Pattison reported that her son-in-law has volunteered to paint our building. Paint expenses will be paid by the guild. The project will be done in late May and take about 48 hrs. He would like a quilt made and given in his name to the local VFW for them to raffle off and the proceeds be used for Veteran programs. A decision will be made in February. Meanwhile, Maggie Anderson will go to the VFW to see if they are agreeable to this idea.
Further research has been done by Maggie Anderson into the Community Assistance League as a possible recipient of our future Cancer Quilt funds. The group is in the process of restructuring their guide lines, so as to be more vigilant where their funds are spent. Their goal is to place the funds where there is the greatest need. They expect to work on this in April and when completed, a representative will come to our meeting to explain their plan. Then we can decide if we want to donate our Cancer Quilt funds to their program. Funds from the “Carolina Lily” 2016 Cancer Quilt will be distributed under the current practice of half to our building fund and half to UC for breast cancer research.
A garage sale was suggested for Spring. Holli Acevedo will chair. Receipts will go into the Building Fund.
A Quilt Show 2016 meeting will be held following the February general meeting. Members are encouraged to attend.
Classes The Sally Frey class on Jan. 8-9th has 21 paid signed up. No other classes have been scheduled. Contact Dee Strever if you are interested in teaching a class.
The Name Tag Jar was passed for those without their name tags. Name tag drawing was won by Grace Kramer. There were four January birthdays with two in attendance. Each received two fat quarters in recognition.
Block of the Month is tabled until the February meeting.
Show and Tell: Judy Potter shared one small quilt that she had decorated for Christmas.
Grace Kramer shared four hot mats she had finished using various piecing techniques.
Ann Rook shared three finished UFOs. A large quilt named “Bellisamo” done with pinwheels. The next was “Good Fortune” a batik quilt. The third was “Island Hopping” pieced with tropical fabrics.
The executive board will meet on the last Tuesday of the month, so the next meeting will be on January 26 at 12:30. Anyone is welcome to attend. The next business meeting is on February 2nd at 10 AM, followed by the Quilt Show meeting. We will have regular sew days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as, Last Saturday Sew on January 30th.
Trudy thanked Jackie Baker and Peggy Ann Melovich for bringing snacks for today’s meeting. Heather Scott and Holli Acevedo volunteered to bring snacks to our February meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:20AM.

Sell Your StashSome members would like to thin out their fabric stash. At the end of Business Meetings, the two tables in the front of the Hall will be reserved for members to bring their priced fabric, notions, or other items related to sewing or the making of quilts or fiber arts. Members must handle the financial transactions themselves and remove any items left at the end of the meeting or they will be placed on the “free table.” No clothing, shoes, or household items, please.
