CONSUEGRA REACHES CENTURY MARK• Charlotte head coach Cara Consuegra became the second member of the 100-win club in school history following the 78-63 victory at North Texas Dec. 30 in the Conference USA opener.• Only one other head coach in program history reached the mile-stone, Ed Baldwin (1989-2001).• Baldwin is the school’s all-time leader in coaching wins with 175.• Consuegra reached the plateau in her 168th career game with the 49ers, while Baldwin needed 150 career games to reach the mark.• Both coaches did it in their sixth season with the program. Baldwin attained the mark with a triple-overtime 90-87 win over Wake For-est Dec. 19, 1993, in the season’s fifth game, while Consuegra used the triumph at North Texas for her milestone victory.

A PERFECT DECEMBER• The 49ers finished their second month of the campaign with a per-fect 6-0 record, including a 5-0 mark in non-conference play.• It stands as only the second undefeated month during head coach Cara Consuegra’s six seasons, joining an 8-0 ledger in February 2013. Each of those wins were against Atlantic 10 opponents.• There are two other months, November 2012 and January 2013, in which the Niners dropped only one game.

RALLY AFTER THE FIRST• Charlotte trailed after the first quarter in the Dec. 30 C-USA opener at North Texas before responding to pull out the win, marking the first time this season it has pulled off the feat.• The Niners have done it five times since the start of last year when the NCAA switched to the four-quarter format with three of those contests against Conference USA foes.• The 10-point difference was the largest overcome by Charlotte in the five games, while the 15-point final margin was the second big-gest of the group.

GREGORY’S THREES TIE SCHOOL RECORD• A key part of Ciara Gregory’s career-high 35 points against David-son Dec. 21 were a career-best seven 3-pointers, which also happen to tie the school record for a single game.• The 49ers’ single-game mark of seven has been hit two times but not in nearly 11 years as the sharpshooter topped her previous ca-reer high by one.• She made three triples by halftime, adding her final four in the last 20 minutes.• The Charlotte coaches were working on developing plays late in the fourth quarter to get her another look from behind the arc and at-tempt to break the record but Davidson resorted to fouling the 49ers down the stretch to prevent any such opportunity.

POINT TOTAL PLACES HER AMONG TOP EIGHT NINERS; AS BEST UNDER CONSUEGRA• Ciara Gregory’s 35 points are tied for the sixth best among all Char-lotte players in school history for a single game.• Her point total ranks as the most for any 49ers player since Tonya Phifer’s 35 against DePaul Jan. 28, 2001, and are the highest for any Charlotte individual under head coach Cara Consuegra.• Gregory and Phifer are the only players on the school’s single-game scoring list with their marks coming in the last 23 seasons, since 1993-94.• Her 35 points mark the 46th time in program history in which a player has tallied at least 30 points but only the ninth in the last 20 seasons. Five of those nine have come during Consuegra’s tenure.

GREGORY RAISES 49ERS’ POTW HONORS TO THREE• Charlotte senior guard Ciara Gregory was tabbed the Dec. 23 Con-ference USA Player of the Week. The conference held an abbreviated window of games due to the upcoming holidays instead of announc-ing the accolades on their normal Monday release date.• The Jeannette, Pennsylvania, native joins backcourt mates Lefty Webster (co-winner, Nov. 14) and Grace Hunter (Dec. 12) as Niners to pick up the C-USA Player of the Week plaudits in 2016-17, tying for the most by any school thus far this season.• Gregory’s accolade comes on the heels of the most prolific shooting performance of her career, in her 100th career game, with 35 points, including seven 3-pointers, in the lone 49ers’ game of the week. She drained 11-of-15 field goals, including 7-of-10 from behind the arc, and added 6-of-6 free throws to tie the single-game Halton Arena record in Wednesday’s 93-79 triumph over Davidson.• The arena standard had stood since Tonya Phifer originally set it against DePaul Jan. 28, 2001. The two 35-point games are the only marks of at least 33 points by a Charlotte individual in the program’s last 23 years.• The 35 points by Gregory are the most by any 49ers player under head coach Cara Consuegra and she became the fifth player to tally at least 30 in Consuegra’s six seasons. They also tie her for second in a single game among all Conference USA players this season.• Her career-best seven 3-pointers also match the single-game school record, a feat accomplished only twice previously and not since 2005. They match Leslie Cook’s Halton Arena mark, which was set against VCU in 2003.• The seven triples are the most by any Charlotte player under Con-suegra and give Gregory four games with at least six made in a game during her career, the most frequent of any player in program history.• Gregory entered the Davidson matchup tied for third on the school’s career 3-pointers made list, now standing firmly by herself on the chart in sole possession with 164 made.• She also shared the team lead with four steals on the defensive end, helping the Niners to 14 as a team against the Wildcats.

HUNTER PRESENTED HER FIRST C-USA POTW AWARD• Charlotte sophomore guard Grace Hunter was named the Dec. 12 Conference USA Player of the Week.• It is the first player of the week honor for the Raleigh, North Car-olina, product in her career and was the second by a 49ers player this season.• Hunter, a five-time C-USA Freshman of the Week recipient last year, helped lead the Niners to two victories over the week to extend the current win streak to four and improve the overall record to 7-3.• She turned in a near double-double average of 12.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in the two triumphs, 77-63 at Duquesne Dec. 6 and 66-41 against Longwood Dec. 11.• She opened the week with 13 points, a team-high tying eight re-bounds and a career-best equaling four assists against the Dukes. She hit 6-of-14 field goals, including 1-of-3 from 3-point range, to go along with a blocked shot in 34 minutes.• Hunter then capped the week with her second double-double of the campaign and ninth of her career with 12 points and a team-best 10 rebounds against the Lancers. She knocked down all three of her free throws in addition to four field goals, including one 3-point-er, plus an assist, blocked shot and steal in 30 minutes.• Her two double-doubles this season are a team best as are her nine to rank as the most of any active 49ers player despite only playing 38 career games.• The hard-nosed guard also put together back-to-back solid defen-sive efforts in both games, as Charlotte held Duquesne to 3-of-11 (27.3 percent) in the fourth quarter of that win and limited Long-wood to only six points in the second quarter of that victory, while the 41 points are the fewest by any Niners opponent this season.

WEBSTER NAMED CO-C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK• Charlotte senior guard Lefty Webster was named as a co-recipi-ent of the Conference USA Player of the Week award for Nov. 14, as announced by the league office. Webster shares the accolade with Marshall’s Shayna Gore.• The Norfolk, Virginia, native and Preseason All-Conference USA Team selection garnered her first career honor after starting the campaign off on a strong note, helping the 49ers to a 2-0 record, including a win over Big Ten foe Wisconsin. She averaged a dou-ble-double of 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds.• Webster poured in a game-high tying 16 points on 5-of-11 field goals, including 3-of-4 3-pointers, and 3-of-4 free throws against the Badgers. She became the 12th player in program history to reach the century mark (100) for career 3-pointers made and needs one more to enter the Top 10 after the performance.• She added seven rebounds, including six on the defensive glass, four assists and two steals in 39 minutes.• Webster then followed that up with her sixth career double-double of 13 points and a career-high tying 13 rebounds in the road open-er at College of Charleston Sunday. She connected on 5-of-14 field goals and 3-of-5 free throws, while collecting 10 of her boards on the defensive glass to help lead the 49ers to 51 team rebounds.• She swiped a career-best seven steals, posted her first blocked shot of the season and distributed a team-high five assists in the victory.• Webster joins Ny Hammonds (March 3, 2014) as the only 49ers to receive Conference USA Player of the Week plaudits since the pro-gram rejoined the league in 2013-14. Three Charlotte players, in-cluding Webster, were included last season in the inaugural weekly honor roll, which was generally given to the runner-up in the play-er-of-the-week voting. She was honored for that Feb. 22, 2016.• Overall, Webster is the sixth Player of the Week choice by Confer-ence USA in the program’s two stints in the league. Since head coach Cara Consuegra joined the Niners prior to the 2011-12, Charlotte has had eight conference Players of the Week, including two seasons (2011-12 and 2012-13) in the Atlantic 10.

GUARD TRIO MAKE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HISTORY• Charlotte guards Lefty Webster, Grace Hunter and Ciara Gregory with their individual Conference USA Player of the Week honors this year have made the trio a first in the program’s Conference USA his-tory (1995-96 through 2004-05; 2013-14 to present).• It marks the first time in school history the 49ers have had multiple Conference USA Player of the Week winners in the same season. • Prior to this year, Charlotte had only accumulated five cumulative C-USA Player of the Week awards in program history, and just one since returning to the league in 2013-14.• It is the first time in any league since the final year competing in the Atlantic 10, 2012-13, when both Jennifer Hailey (four times) and Amanda Dowe (one time) were recognized.• It also is the first time multiple honors have been bestowed upon the Niners in a single season while a member of Conference USA.

WEBSTER EARNS C-USA HONOR ROLL SPOT• Charlotte senior guard Lefty Webster was selected to the Confer-ence USA weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office Dec. 5 as part of its release of weekly accolades. Webster becomes the first 49ers player to receive the nod this season and the fourth overall since the conference instituted the plaudit starting last year.• Webster was a key component in the Niners’ two victories this

week, including defeating ACC-foe (--/RV) Pittsburgh on the road Dec. 4. She averaged a stat-sheet stuffing 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.0 blocks on the week.• The Norfolk, Virginia, native opened the week with a near dou-ble-double of eight points and a career-high nine assists against East Carolina at home Dec. 1 in the 79-64 triumph. She added six rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in 38 minutes against the Pirates.• She then sparked the Niners’ road comeback at (--/RV) Pittsburgh Dec. 4, tallying a game-high 20 points, a season best, and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds in another near double-double effort.• She posted 14 of her 20 points in the third quarter, as Charlotte overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to the Panthers to domi-nate after halftime. It is the 10th time in her career she has tallied at least 20 points and the first this year.• She was a key contributor on defense, as well, blocking a sea-son-high three shots as (--/RV) Pittsburgh was held to 11.8 percent (2-of-17) from the floor in the fourth quarter when the 49ers pulled away from a one-point lead entering the period.• Webster finished with her best shooting effort of the campaign, dropping in 7-of-9 field goals, while adding five free throws and four assists in the all-around showing in 38 minutes against the Panthers.• The win was Charlotte’s second this year over a ‘Power 5’ Confer-ence school and the fourth under head coach Cara Consuegra during her six seasons with the program.• Webster also received Conference USA Honor Roll mention Feb. 22, 2016, to give her one-half of the program’s overall total in the last two years.• Classmate Ciara Gregory was also honored Dec. 5, garnering the College Sports Madness Conference USA Player of the Week.

28 (17.9 percent) from the floor in the fourth quarter.• The 49ers held the Panthers to just 2-of-17 from the field, an 11.8 conversion rate, to pull away from a one-point lead entering the pe-riod and turn it into the seven-point victory.• Charlotte then shut down the Dukes in similar fashion, holding them to 3-of-11, a 27.3 percentage, to widen its six-point edge heading into the quarter into a final margin of 14.• The dominance can even be extended a game back, to Dec. 1 against East Carolina inside Halton Arena, as the 49ers shut down the Pirates in the last 10 minutes to a tune of 3-of-18 (16.7 percent) in the period.• Calculating in the East Carolina struggles, Charlotte held the three opponents to a combined 8-of-46 from the field, a 17.4 percentage, to begin the month.

SINGLE DIGIT QUARTERS• Charlotte’s defense has stepped up numerous times this season, and last, and the 49ers have held a new single-season high of four of their opponents thus far to one quarter of scoring only in single digits.• Last year, with the start of four quarters action, only three foes were held to a single-digit period and the feat has already been surpassed through the non-conference slate.• The latest was a record-tying six from Longwood Dec. 11 in the second quarter, matching the output in the same period tallied by Southern Miss Jan. 7, 2016.
