The Miami Recruiting Battalion The U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion, Miami, has

contributed toward the achievement of the Army’s manpower and mobilization requirements for more than a quarter of a century. Recruiting in South Florida was formally organized in 1968 under the purview of the Jacksonville Recruiting Main Station, one of 40 within the United States. Inspirations for Youth and Families is a nationally recognized and licensed residential treatment center for teens ages 13 to 18 (and their families) who are struggling with the chaos of a teen behaviors combined with drug or alcohol use, abuse, or addiction. George Miller, Artist There is nothing wrong with creating art for art’s sake. I have

however been led by the spirit to use my talent to advocate for children. Your support helps bring attention to the work I do as a Child Advocacy Artist. I use my gift to encourage students to stay in school, to salute the adults that stand up for our children and to make visible the love that exist but cannot always be seen. The “Florida Tobacco Prevention for Educators: An Online Professional Development for K-12 Educators” is

in it’s 5th year serving teachers in all 67 Florida public school districts. This free online program is open to all current, certificate holding Florida teachers. Upon completion of one of the two online courses, Florida educators will earn either 30 or 60 Professional Development points toward certificate renewal, depending on the course they choose. Using multimedia, interactivity and creative thinking, teachers will create one lesson and teach five more from our library, that integrate the content they learned from the course into the tobacco prevention message to their students. Since 9 out of 10 adult smokers started between the ages of 12-18, helping our students make healthy decisions regarding tobacco is our ultimate goal.
