2015-2016 Upper School Profile 2015 GPA Distribution Accreditation/Affiliations Ben Lippen has been accredited by AdvancED since 1980 and by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) since 1996. Ben Lippen is also affiliated with the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA). Admission Admission to Ben Lippen School is selective and is based on a student’s previous academic performance, recommendations, personal attributes, an admissions interview, and academic entrance testing. Applications for enrollment can be accessed online at www.BenLippen.com. Dual Enrollment Ben Lippen offers high school students the opportunity to take college courses at Columbia International University at no additional cost. A variety of courses are available, including, but not limited to, Introduction to Psychology, Historical Perspectives in Culture, Graphic Design, Introduction to Business, Research in Literature, and Introduction to Philosophy. English as a Second Language (ESL) Ben Lippen offers course work at three levels in ESL -beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The ESL focus is proficiency in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. TOEFL preparation is integrated into each ESL course to prepare students for admissions requirements at most universities within the United States. National Merit Recognition Class Rank Ben Lippen School utilizes the SC Uniform Grading Scale and reports class rank on all final senior transcripts. Typically, 100 percent of the senior class goes on to postsecondary education. Because of smaller class sizes, the academic rigor of a Ben Lippen education, and the resulting overall caliber of the average Ben Lippen student, class rank is not a good predictor of future academic success.
