Dear Readers,

This is our 11th newsletter of 2015. We have special news for you in this

newsletter. We are sorry for having delayed so much to get it ready and send it to you. We’ll try to be more punctual next time (please also see the attached

disclaimer).

This time you will be reading about:

1. Crop harvesting

2. Our honorable guests

3. Restructure work of the old house

1. Crop harvesting: Winter has started and our paddy fields are full of ripe rice.

That rice was planted during the last rainy season. This year there was enough rain so rice has grown quite nicely. Now people are very busy with harvesting.

They will be busy all the month of December. Rice is our main food and we are grateful to the Lord as this year crops have been quite abundant.

2. Our guests: From the 18th November up to the 11th of December six guests from Italy spent almost an entire month with the tribal Munda people of the

Sundarban forest. Their names are Marco, his wife Adriana, Miria, Manuela,

Daniela and Vittorio. Marco and Adriana are doctors. They are husband and wife. Marco is a pediatric

doctor and Adriana is a cardiologist. They worked a week in Khulna in a leprosy

hospital and then in a small hospital not very far away from our mission

outstation offering people their precious services.

Dr. Marco

Dr. Adriana and Ram Proshad

All these honorable guests have gone back to Italy but Dr. Marco will remain for two more months. He will spend one month in the leprosy hospital in Khulna and

another month with us. Our local patients will be grateful to him forever.

This is Dr. Marco’s second visit in Bangladesh. We are sure it will not be the last!

Manuela also worked with Dr. Marco and Dr. Adriana both in Khulna and in this

place as she is a very expert physiotherapist. She did not have many patients as our local people do not know what physiotherapy is about but we are sure she

would have a lot of work if she would stay for more time.

Manuela, physiotherapist

Moreover Manuela brought many useful things for our dining room and our

kitchen: such as cutlery, nice table cloth and so on. The process of civilization and modernization of this place has gone a long way through Manuela’s hard

work. We hope she may be able to come again and spend more time with us. For sure we’ll be able to learn many things from her.

Along with Manuela, Miria and Daniela did many works at Jisur Nam Ashram.

They cleaned old furniture and painted walls and worked in the garden. Both Daniela and Miria taught English to the girls. Daniela knows English very well

and she is very fond of animals. Her pet dog, whom she named Tiger, is missing

her! And we miss her, too!

Vittorio is Fr. Luigi’s classmate and is a famous painter. He decorated several

walls of our house with beautiful paintings. Moreover he is a very jolly man.

We were very happy to have all these honourable guests with us and we hope

they will come again . Our village people also were happy to meet them and wherever they went they

put up heartfelt welcome ceremonies for them.

3. Old house: At Jisur Nam Ashram we have four houses: three of them are quite

modern and comfortable. The oldest one is in a very bad condition. So we have decided to pull it down and reconstruct it again. Demolishing work has just

started. Reconstruction work will take several months but we hope to finish it by

the end of the next month of March. We are grateful to the Lions of Piemonte and Liguria in Italy who will provide financial help to carry out this important

work. After completing this work our small mission outstation near the

Sunderban Forest will have a beautiful look and we’ll be able to offer a decent hospitality to visitors and friends from abroad. The reconstruction design and

plan of this new house has been made by Dr. Marco who is also a very good

engineer along with a very good doctor.

Disclaimer

Readers know that this Newsletter is necessarily edited in Italy, and that we care for the publication on ISSUU in order to make it available online.

We could not be “punctual” as usual for having come back home on December

12, after having spent a month in Bangladesh without the possibility to send news, due to the block of the social network decided by the government for

security reasons.

During our stay, from Satkhira we could reach Jisur Nam Ashram only once, on November 20, that is two days after the attack of Nov. 18 to Fr. Piero Parolari.

Police imposed us to be escorted during that trip. We had only few hours to stay

at the Mission and to visit the nearby small hospital (AIMCH). But it was a pleasure for us to meet in that occasion Fr. Luigi, his honourable

guests, and the Munda Girls of course!

We also want to wish to the Readers a Merry Christmas and a Peaceful New Year!
