Worn Flag Collection Box Frank Poma, Eagle Scout candidate from Boy Scout Troop 343 built a worn flag collection box for his Eagle Scout project and donated it to the Hauppauge Library. “People do not necessarily know what to do with a worn flag. I wanted to help them dispose of their worn flags properly," Frank said. Worn flags are an item that many people do not know how to discard and this box is designed to help people to do just that. Frank has also made arrangements for the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post to collect the worn flags every month. Both organizations provide flag retirement service to the community. The library is very grateful to have received this donation and to be able to provide this service to our patrons. We are excited about our summer offsite trips! (See right.) On Monday, July 25 we’ll takea three-hour Great South Bay cruise on the paddle wheel boat, the Lauren Kristy andsince everyone enjoyed April’s Jamaica Bay Wildlife Walk so much, we’ve planned anotherwalk in Stony Brook’s Avalon Park on Wednesday, June 27. These are going to be scenic,fun trips! Don't be left behind–register by visiting the library or calling (631) 979-1600 assoon as possible to insure your place.

As you know, the Friends of the Arts raise funds to enhance and expand library programs.The fundraising committee has composed a support request letter, ready to mail tobusinesses and professionals in our community.
