Editorial Dear Readers, We hope you are all very well by the grace of God. In the year 2014 we maintained our promise to publish a SAMMSS Newsletter every month.

This is the first Newsletter of our second year of publishing, and we would like to tell you about are the following:

1. Guests have come to visit us On the 7th of January 2015 some guests from Italy came to visit us. They arrived in Bangladesh from Calcutta. They spent one night in this place. Their names are: don Diego, Michela and Natalia. We arranged a short welcome ceremony for them. They were very friendly with us and we have been very happy to meet them.

2. Dr. Marco Pedeferri On the 16th January another Italian guest came here. His name is Marco. He is a doctor. He has been here for three weeks and has been working at a nearby small hospital. Along with his precious medical service he has been busy with various kinds of works at our small mission outstation. He has been working as electrician, carpenter, plumber, farmer and cleaner. We hope he will come back again with his wife who is also a doctor. People like him are very much needed in this part of the world.

On Friday the small hospital is closed, so Marco can show his other “skills”!

Marco is beloved by all girls who stay at the Mission, including of course Lipika (in the first picture) who is a“newbie”.

3. Golok’s honey Last year a few Munda girls were trained on apiculture. Our apiculture project has developed nicely. Now we have 20 hives. A couple of months ago Golok took responsibility of looking after those hives. Recently he has collected a good amount of honey. This honey will be sold in Dhaka at a very good price.

4. Vegetables from our garden Recently we have had a good crop of potatoes from our garden. Golok, our farmer who looks after the hives, has been replaced by Shorot Munda who works now in the garden. Also the girls who are staying here at the Mission have been able to grow beautiful ‘lau’ i.e. a kind of pumpkin.

5. Loans disbursement SAMMSS (Sunderban Adibashi Munda Mohila Somobay Somiti Ltd.) is going on with its main activity which is providing micro credit to the members for productive activities at a very low interest rate. In the following, and last picture of this news letter, our readers can see some members of SAMMSS applying for loans, and Nilima Munda, the Directress of SAMMSS, and Konika Munda, the secretary of SAMMSS disbursing them.
