MEETING 12-08-13 WITH VILLAGE MUNDA WOMEN Writers of the report: Chompa Munda and Chondona Munda

On August 12-08-13 in the morning at 10 o’ clock we arranged a meeting at Jisu

Nam Asrham. The people present at that meeting were: Fr. Luigi Paggi, Nilima

Munda, directress of SAMMSS, and lot of members of SAMMSS (Sunderban

Adibashi Munda Somobay Somiti), the small co- operative we have set up.

This meeting started with a short speech by Champa Munda. At first she invited

the members to introduce themselves.

Then Nilima Munda spoke. She talked about the purposes of SAMMSS. She said

that SAMMSS has got a registration with Bangladesh Government which enables

it to receive foreign donations.

Then Bahamoni Munda spoke. She talked about loans and she said that members

can get loans from the co-operative. The money given as loan must be used for

productive works, not for repairing the house, for treatment, or for arranging

children’s marriages.

She also talked about treatment for members and their children: if any mother or

her child is affected by a serious disease they will get help from the co- operative.

Among the members in every village there will be a group leader who will collect

the money and organize monthly meetings.

Finally Chandona Munda spoke. She said that there will be a report about every

meetings of the members and a news letter will be sent to every village. The

members who are illiterate will get the news from those who can read and write.

At last Champa Munda finished the meeting by thanking those who were present

and wished them all the best.
