Contestants in the Limited Open Class will also be placed in the Open Ranch Horse Class. For example, a contestant can win the Limited Open ($1,000 + Buckle) and win the Ranch Horse ($3,500), for a total of $4,500 + Buckle

Once contestants have won $3,500 in total earnings at Canada’s Premier Select Ranch Horse Competition, they are only eligible for the Ranch Horse Class prize pool.

1. The competition and sale is open to (pending selection)

registered and grade mares or geldings, and registered

stallions, mules may be accepted.

· RANCH HORSES: 4 – 15 years old.

· PROSPECTS: 2 and 3 year olds, prospect horses

must be started on cattle at time of selection.

Prospects may be shown in a snaffle bit, bosal, or

bridle.

2. All Ranch Horses selected for the sale must compete in

the Ranch Horse Competition. Ranch Horses MUST sell to

receive competition prize money.

3. Horses must be tested for Equine Infectious Anaemia

(Coggins Tested) after October 1st, 2014. The original

negative E.I.A. certificate must accompany the horse to

Agribition.

4. Veterinary Inspection: Prior to the Ranch Horse

Competition, all horses will be subject to veterinary

inspection.

· Veterinary inspection will be done in catalogue

order.

· No riding, lounging or exercising of horses the morn-

ing prior to inspection. Breach of this rule may

result in disqualification.

· Horses will be subject to mouthing for age.

· Horses NOT passing Veterinary Inspection will be

removed from Sale Alley.

· The veterinary inspection findings are the property

of CWA and will not be released to a third party.

5. Ranch Horse Competition:

· Horses will compete in the reverse of the catalogue

order.

· Horses 6 years and over MUST be shown in a bridle,

horses 5 years and under may be shown in a snaffle

bit, bosal, or bridle. Credit will be given for show-

ing one-handed with a bridle.

· Shoes in excess of 3/4" wide will not be allowed.

6. Ranch Horse and Prospect Sale:

· Horses will sell in catalogue order. However, the

competition winner can pick their spot in the sale.

· No reserve bids or buy-backs.

· The seller warrants that the horse offered for sale

is free of all encumbrances.

· Horses become the responsibility of the buyer after

purchase. Terms of the sale are cash. No credit

cards accepted. Personalized cheques are consid-

ered cash. Payment is to be made the day of the sale;

the bill of sale will serve as a release for the horse

to leave the grounds.

· For Registered horses: Horses must be consigned in

the name of the owner on the registration papers.

Cheques will be made to only the name on the regis-

tration papers. Signed transfer and original regis-

tration must accompany the horse to the sale. Regis-

tration papers will be held by CWA until cheques

clear the bank. At such time, they, along with the

signed transfer certificate will be mailed to the pur-

chaser. Responsibility for Transfer of Ownership

shall remain with purchaser and consignor.

· Canadian Western Agribition provides a venue for the

sale, but assumes no liability for either the buyer or

the seller. Information provided in sale catalogue is

provided by the seller. Canadian Western Agribition

cannot guarantee the accuracy of statements made

in the catalogue. Announcements made at the time of

the auction will take precedence over material

printed in the catalogue.

· GST will be charged on the purchase price.

· 7% selling commission to Canadian Western

Agribition.

· Following the sale blood samples will be drawn and

held for drug testing.

***All sale horses must be out of the barns by 8:00 pm

Friday, November 28, 2014. For alternate

arrangements please see the barn boss. ***

Pattern to be followed for Ranch Horse Competition:

1. Each exhibitor will be allowed a maximum of 9 minutes to com-

plete the prescribed pattern. At the 7 minute mark, there will

be a two minute warning whistle. When the 9 minute time limit

has expired, the exhibitor will be required to discontinue work

but will be marked up to where time expired.

2. Going off pattern or any additional manoeuvre in an element

of the competition will result in a score of “0” for that ele-

ment.

3. Each horse will be led into the ring saddled with a loose

cinch. Pick up all four of the horse’s feet, ground tie (no hob-

bling), remove the bit completely from the horse’s mouth and

re-bridle, and tighten the cinch. Mount horse, pick up slicker,

set down slicker.

4. Begin at the end of the arena. Lope past the centre marker,

stop and back up at least 10ft (3 meters).

5. Quarter turn to the left. Complete 2 circles to the left; the

first circle large and fast, the second circle small and slow.

Change leads at the centre of the arena.

6. Complete 2 circles to the right; the first circle small and

slow, the second circle large and fast. Change leads at the

centre of the arena.

7. Continue around the end of the arena without breaking gait

or changing leads, run down centre of the arena past the end

marker, execute a square sliding stop.

8. Roll back to the right.

9. Run down centre of arena past

end marker, execute a square sliding stop.

10. Roll back to the left.

11. Lope to the middle marker and stop.

Hesitate to complete the pattern.

12. Work yearling by boxing on the end of

arena. Turn yearling at least once

each way on the fence.

13. Track and rope the yearling and bring

the animal to a stop (do not drag the

animal) and track the yearling out

of the arena.

14. Drag the log to the centre of the

arena from the roping box, circle

and return to the starting point

back up and drag log back into

roping box.

15. Open and close the gate from horse.

16. Load and unload horse into the

stock trailer.

17. Following the competition the mouth and sides will be

examined for blood – any blood will result in a score of “0”.

Comments: Kit is a very pretty, blaze faced, 15 HH filly, strong and athletic. As a 2 year old, she had 3 months training at Tilley’s Custom Colts and then came home and spent the summer pasture riding checking cows. This year, she has had another 4 months at Tilley’s. Kit has been worked with the flag, dragging logs, tracking calves, and breakaway roping. She has been ridden inside and out and has a solid foundation to become a cow horse or ranch horse.
