! " !ince the beginning, Red Horse Mountain Ranch has been a vacation getaway and retreat for those who starve for the
spirit of adventure, relaxation, and friendly western hospitality. The Ranch has a rich history of dude ranching in Idaho since 1947 and the same traditions of the western experience live today. In 2009, the Ranch will celebrate the conclusion to a long journey, as Red Horse becomes Idahos newest member of the National Dude Ranchers Association. As many families and guests have known for some time, Red Horse Mountain Ranch is now recognized nationally as one of the few grand dude ranch experiences.
Working on a dude ranch is about sharing the West, a simple world that is dictated by the seasons and the cycle of life. Your appreciation of nature, family, and friends will be renewed. Youll nd that adventure, good food and good friends will leave you peaceful and content. Youll discover the luxuries of silence, the wind on your face and the stars shining brightly. More than just a day full of activities, the essence of a ranch vacation nourishes your heart and soul. Youll see children blossom and youll nd a peace that takes away your typically daily grind. It is unlike any vacation you have ever taken ~ one that you will return to time and again and one that youll all remember for years to come. I hope youll give us the opportunity to show you our little slice of heaven in Idaho and come celebrate our new membership into the National Dude Ranchers Association.
Hope to see you on the trails.

The All Inclusive Ranch Vacation
Red Horse Mountain Ranch began serving guests in 2005 when the long-time Idaho family from Boise, the Terteling Family, purchase the ranch. Terteling Company has been a supporter of important conservation concerns like the Peregrine Fund, who today continues conservation on the California Condor and other birds of prey. The Terteling Company donated a region near Boise to honor our Idaho military veterans with an Idaho state cemetery, giving peace and comfort to the men and women who want - and richly deserve - to be remembered.

! %!Horseback Riding Adventures At Red Horse Mountain Ranch the horse is front and center. We start by matching you with one of our horses. Each day on the ranch, riders will have at least two opportunities for western style horseback riding. Kids program will have a morning horseback ride, but if families would like to ride together, there are afternoon family rides scheduled throughout the week, but not everyday. Before you arrive, the Barn Manager will be scheduling you with a horse and saddle during your entire stay. Your horse will be chosen for you based on the information you have provided on your Riders Information Form. All guests will be asked to complete an orientation and walking ride during the rst day of their vacation, unless they are returning guests. This gives our wranglers a chance to orient you to the barn and give you a chance to meet your horse and make any adjustments to your saddle and riding equipment for the week.
Scenic Horseback Rides You'll have 300,000 acres, miles of trails, a knowledgeable wrangler, a trusty horse, and the ability to go wherever your skills can take you! Every morning the wranglers have your horse saddled and waiting for you when you decide to ride. The wranglers will make sure you are comfortable and properly equipped before you get on your horse. If you need a few pointers, don't hesitate to ask your wrangler for a little help. Please remember that your safety and the horses' safety are always kept in mind. We have a variety of riding trails, all of which leave the valley oor and climb into the surrounding mountains. Enjoy riding through pastures, along wide trails, on open hillsides and through narrow, wooded paths. We recommend you bring your camera. Each scenic trail ride will last between 2-4 hours. All Day Horseback Rides The All Day Ride lasts between 5-8 hours. You will experience the backwoods, creek basins and breathtaking views from ridgelines. The chef will prepare a pack lunch for you to take on your trip. Be prepared for this ride. Wearing a hat and sunglasses to shade your face is highly recommended. Wear layers; the weather may not be the same atop the ridges as it is down in the valley. Typically, most all day rides climb and descend a total of 8,000 feet in elevation. Family Horseback Rides Family horseback rides give parents with kids 6 and over a chance to ride together while at the ranch. The wranglers will make sure you and your children are comfortable and properly equipped. Family rides are also at the discretion of the wrangler. Family rides are usually shorter than most rides for the sake of the children. Advanced Horseback Rides are at the discretion of the wrangler. We make sure you, and your horse, are ready for the experience of a kicking it up a notch. Even an accomplished rider will tell you that every horse is different and it takes a little time for you to meet. Cantering and trotting is very much part of our day, but most important is your safety. Talk with your experienced wranglers if you could use a few pointers to advance your trail riding experience! The Advanced ride is a combination of walking, trotting, and cantering and
