dear supporters,

I hope as you thumb through our annual report you will celebrate with us as we share our 2014 accomplishments. With your help last year, we were able to make significant strides in our fight to end hunger. We provided more than 4.3 million meals to our communities in need. In 2015, we will increase our impact by working to provide 262,000 additional nutritious meals.

In 2010, alongside 200 sister Feeding America food banks, we committed to provide 1 billion more meals across the nation by 2018. Here at home, we are working to add 1,320, 880 meals to help bridge the meal gap in northeast North Carolina.

In our hearts, we wish we could provide all these missing meals at once but that is unrealistic. It would take a tremendous amount of food, human and financial resources to meet that goal. Our aim is to maintain the level of service and strategically grow while ensuring that our services are sustainable and in order to do so, we are planning for 6% annual growth.

Moving forward, we are committed to three important goals: working more efficiently so we can do more for more people; providing better nutrition and more fruits and vegetables; and helping individuals and families gain consistent access to affordable nutritious food themselves.

Together with your continued support, we can ensure men, women and children in northeast North Carolina don’t go to bed hungry.

the Food Bank of the Albemarle provided

emergency relief to the region when tornadoes struck in

April.

our trucks traveled 81,911 miles across the region as

part of our mission to feed the hungry.

Attorneys across the Albemarle raised more than

16,000 meals during the 2014 legal Feeding Frenzy

and two local law firms won their categories!

11,728 hours were donated by 962 volunteers. the dedication

of volunteers allows us to operate more efficiently.

267,534 lbs of potatoes were

donated to the Food Bank during the 2014

growing season.

in 2014, Food lion made hunger their top philanthropic focus with Food lion Feeds

initiatives.

local businesses donated $96,912.12 to the Food Bank of the Albemarle. Enough to

provide 439,585 meals!

in june 2014, FBA kicked off its summer Feeding Program in partnership with Montero’s

Restaurant.
