by Natalie GeNtryFrom her job with the Azle In-

dependent School District to her role as a wife and mother, Karen Kidd epitomizes the concept of “selflessness.”

In recognition of this fact, the ambassadors of the Azle Cham-ber of Commerce have named Kidd the Ambassador of the Year.

As she presented the award, 2014 Ambassador Chair Cat Schlueter described Kidd.

“She is an intelligent, genuine and warmhearted person who al-ways goes out of her way to help those in need while also serving as a dedicated mother, wife, em-ployee and sales person,” Schlu-eter said. “She exemplifies what it means to be a Christian wom-an, with a humble willfulness to help others.

“Whether it is preparing food for the sick, offering a ride to a friend or preforming a service for her community she consis-tently puts the needs of others before her own,” Schlueter said.

Born and raised in Azle, Kidd graduated from AHS in 1980.

She married her best friend

Mark almost 31 years ago and together they have two children.

Their daughter, Heather, grad-uated from Azle in 2001 and is currently working on her Mas-ter’s degree in psychology.

Son Chance graduated from Port Aransas in 2006 and has been an officer for the Azle Police Department the last four years.

Described by Chance, as a “go-getter,” Kidd has been a Mary Kay representative for 11 years and through that business spearheads the local Adopt-a-Grandparent program during the Christmas season each year.

“My heart is for the elderly in our community and I never want them to be forgotten during the holidays,” Kidd said.

Her compassion extends to her job as well.

“Karen is such a joy to have in our business office at Azle ISD and we are so blessed to have her,” said Director of Fi-nance Monica Miller. “Not only is she a dedicated employee, her kindness and genuine concern she has for our employees and fellow coworkers is exhibited

daily.”Schlueter explained that Kidd

always makes herself available to other regardless of stature by offering a kind word or a sympa-thetic ear.

“She truly is one of the finest people you’ll ever have the plea-sure to meet and is a blessing to all who cross her path,” Schlu-eter said.

Kidd’s humility and compas-sion were evidence in her re-sponse to winning the award.

“It’s truly an honor to serve as an Ambassador and on the board of the Chamber,” Kidd said as she accepted her award.

“I joined the Chamber six years ago because I wanted to give back to my community,” she said. “I truly believe it is the best place to live.

“This is my hometown and I love it.” Kidd said.

The Ambassadors are an arm of the Chamber and not only fa-cilitate ribbon cuttings for new businesses when they join but also assist with both monthly and annual Chamber events.

“I’m so blessed to be given

this honor and I know that ev-ery one of the Ambassadors who serve with me deserve this

honor,” Kidd said. “It’s such a blessing to give back to the com-munity where I grew up.”

by carla noah stutsmanIt may sound strange, but the

Azle community may have a yel-low Lab named Goldie to thank for a fundraising duo that’s raised countless dollars for several be-loved organizations in town.

Debra Jenkins and Dawn Zuil-hof were honored with the Bright Star Award for Citizens of the Year by the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce at its awards banquet Jan. 31.

The former neighbors – still the best of friends – recalled how they first met in 1997.

“We lived on the same street but hadn’t actually met,” Jenkins said. “Then one day this golden dog showed up – we hit it off right away – and although we made phone calls and even went up and down the street asking if anyone knew who it belonged to, no one claimed him.”

After about a week, Jenkins and her husband, Jerry, had just about counted the dog as family when the phone rang.

“I think you have our dog.”Zuilhof said she had forgotten

to check the answering machine for several days, and had just re-ceived Jenkins’ week-old message inquiring about the owners of the dog.

She went to the Jenkins’ house to get Goldie and a friendship was struck. It’s a good thing, too, be-cause Goldie often showed up at the Jenkins household for visits after that.

As the years passed, the wom-en saw one another at neighbor-hood get-togethers and their ca-sual friendship deepened. When Jenkins threw a “Diva Party” for the women in the neighborhood where the attendees showed up dressed as divas and modeled for one another, Diane Morrison said “we should have a style show for the hospital!”

A member of the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle Auxiliary board, Jenkins orga-nized the style show and luncheon fundraiser for five years as a result of Morrison’s suggestion.

That was just the beginning.Jenkins chaired the very first

Azle Memorial Library Gala and solicited help from a number of friends to get the job done. An-other friend, Cyndi Standifer, chaired the second Gala, and Zuil-hof the third. Their friends Debbie Meyerhoffer and Michelle Rider chaired the fourth.

But there were other charitable organizations that needed to raise money, and Zuilhof and Jenkins

were highly sought after to chair events.

For example, Zuilhof has head-ed up the Community Caring Cen-ter’s Taste Tour twice. She relies on Jenkins to plan the VIP Party for the event.

Jenkins chaired the Levis & Lace fundraiser benefiting the hospital in 2013 and Zuilhof was in charge of the live auction at the event.

“Being the chair is the most complicated job, but if you have someone you can count on to do one of the hardest jobs for an event, it really helps,” Zuilhof explained. “So Debra and I have made some trades. She does the VIP Party for me, and I do the live auction for her.”

Clearly, spearheading such events amounts to a lot of work. The pay? Zero.

Why do they do it?“Love of community, and these

are really good causes: the Li-brary, the hospital, the Communi-ty Caring Center (CCC),” Zuilhof said. “And someone has to do it.”

Speaking of the CCC, Zuil-hof, who has served as volunteer bookkeeper for the organization since 2003 and assumed the role of Treasurer of its board of direc-tors in 2010, noted its donations toward general operations were down 17 percent in 2013 com-pared with 2012. Coupled with a 34-percent increase in the number of clients served, Zuilhof said, is not a good combination.

“The CCC really needs the Taste Tour and the funds it provides now more than ever,” she said.

For Jenkins, who is already hard at work on the Azle Educa-tion Foundation’s (AEF) Feb. 22 Red Solo Cup fundraiser as well as the City of Azle’s Music in the Park Summer Concert Series, the rewards are high.

“Since moving to Azle, I’ve come to realize what a great com-munity this is – it’s a community that really gives back,” Jenkins said. “While it’s personally re-warding to help raise funds, we get to see the rewards to the com-munity, as well. Just look what we have! Look at the services pro-vided by our hospital, and by the CCC, the library, and the AEF.”

Both women agreed they are blessed with husbands who are very supportive of them and enjoy one another’s company.

“That helps, since they give up their wives for months at a time!” Zuilhof laughed.

The two couples have been to Paris together and are looking for-ward to their third trip to Mexico

later this month. Zuilhof and her husband,

Bob moved to Azle in 1988 and soon had a son, Jake, who now is a standout basketball player at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Zuilhofs owned and operat-ed I.D. Technology in Fort Worth from 1993 to 2002. In 2003 they sold the business and Dawn be-came a full-time wife and mother and part-time community volun-teer. In addition to her work at the CCC, she has served as PTO Trea-surer at many Azle ISD schools and participated on the Finance Committee and Serving Ministries Committee at Azle’s First United Methodist Church.

“It is a joy and a privilege to be a part of an organization that provides food, clothing and kind encouragement to those who are experiencing financial hardships,” Zuilhof has said. “As a follower of Christ, I want to fulfill the calling to truly love my neighbors, and the Community Caring Center is the perfect place to accomplish this.”

Jenkins and her husband, Jerry, have a son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Heather, who live in Hurst. In addition to her work raising much-needed funds for deserving com-munity organizations, she is also a full-time Realtor with Coldwell Banker Encore Dunn & Elam.

Originally from eastern Tennes-see, she is passionate about Uni-versity of Tennessee football.

This is Jenkins’ second Citizen of the Year award. She was also selected for the honor in 2009, and was Azle’s Favorite Realtor in 2012.

by mark k. campbellRed’s Burger House, a double

winner at the 2014 Azle Chamber awards banquet, earned those hon-ors because of some serious elbow grease.

The hamburger being named the People’s Choice as the best in town was a big prize, naturally.

But the icing on the cake was being selected for the Chamber’s Beautification & Improvement award, the Shining Star.

Owners Pat Russell and Blake Hodges worked diligently through the 2013 spring and summer at the old structure at 117 West Main Street.

The building, in substantial dis-repair, was over 100 years old and, one of the most historic in Azle.

The duo built tables, fixed the floor, painted, and performed a myr-iad of other tasks – all documented along the way on the restaurant’s Twitter account, @RedsBurger-House.

They also posted Instagram pho-tos of the building being saved.

Through the years, 117 West Main had mainly been utilized as a drug store – from its original con-structed in 1900 by James Walker all the way to 1963.

The Walker Drug Store was a two-story affair. Later, a smaller doctor’s office was built behind the

edifice. The main building has also had

been a TV repair shop.

Today, it’s a comfortable res-taurant that serves what Azle folks voted as the best burger in town in a superior building.

Or, as the award notates: “In rec-ognition and appreciation of the vi-sion and pride shown by your busi-ness for continued dedication to our community.”

Beautiful burger, beautiful building

red’s burger House, located in a 114-year-old building on main Street, was named the beautification & Improvement award at the annual chamber banquet.

Rogers aces Super Star Businessman of the Year awardby Natalie GeNtry

This year’s Businessman of the Year recipient has worn

many hats.Brian Rogers has been an

electrician, a city councilman,

served on planning and zoning boards, worked in the oil and gas industry, and currently operates an environmental business and a retail sales business.

Rogers was described as the most interesting man in the world by presenter Nate Sim-mons.

“You name it, he’s done it.” Simmons said.

Born and raised in Texas, Rog-ers graduated from Texas Tech University.

Nineteen years ago he married Nancy and they now have five children: Sarah, Kagney, Neely, Tasha, and Robby.

They also have five grand-sons, whom Nancy says are their greatest achievement.

Rogers started Liberty Ecolog-ical and Environmental Services 14 years ago and now has the business headquartered in Azle.

Then three years ago he de-cided that Azle needed an Ace Hardware, and in January 2013 the store opened.

Rogers convinced Nancy to move to Azle two years ago and since then he has joined the

Chamber of Commerce, become an active member of the Opti-mist Club, and recently joined Rotary.

“In 30 years I’ve never lived and worked in the same com-munity,” Rogers said. “There was never an opportunity to be a community servant.

“Since we’ve moved to Azle, I’ve been able to really get in-volved and I love it,” he said. “I’m so honored – and surprised – to receive this award.”

Running two businesses

keeps Rogers busy, but what little down time the couple has is spent with their family at Eagle Mountain Lake.

However, as much fun as play-ing by the lake during the sum-mer might be, there’s another time of year dearest to Rogers’ heart.

One day that he knows the whole family will be together before individual obligations take them separate ways again.

“I live only for Christmas Eve with my family,” he said.

by carla noah stutsman“Things turn out for the best

for those who make the best of the way things turn out,” says Paula Ambrose.

And she should know.Because she’s done so well at

making things better, she was selected for the Twinkling Star Award for Businesswoman of the Year at the Annual Chamber Awards Banquet held Jan. 31.

Ambrose says she was “on the fast track in the restaurant world” in the year 2000.

“I was working with chefs from New York and in a $26 mil-lion state-of-the-art, brand new, four-star restaurant,” Ambrose said. “It all changed overnight when I fell off a ladder from 18 feet in the air, breaking my back and shattering my knee.”

Told she would never walk again nor have children because of her injuries, Ambrose set her mind on proving that theory wrong.

“‘No’ is a word I cannot ac-cept in any aspect of my life,”

she said.In December 2004 she gave

birth to a son and began cook-ing for neighbors and some cus-tomers at a beauty salon and the “old” Azle library.

“I made dinners to go so I could stay home with my son and make a little money,” she explained. “Then the two Lindas – Linda Shaw and Linda Voss – had a brilliant idea.”

They suggested Ambrose cook from a central location for pickup only, and Cafe Soleil was born.

“It was located on Southeast Parkway across from the hospi-tal, and some of the staff there decided if I would open with a small lunch menu, they could come pick up lunches each day,” Ambrose said. “We had 18 seats and it was packed. We were there for three years when we closed in October 2009.”

Several factors lead to this decision, Ambrose said. Obama had been elected, her son was

experiencing medical difficul-ties, and her sister-in-law be-came pregnant. With herself and just three other employees – two were her brother and sister-in-law – she felt she had no choice but to close, and she is quick to blame her brother.

“It was all his fault,” Ambrose laughs.

She went to work for a family in Fort Worth and eventually had her second child, a girl.

Two years later when Pastor Jody Richards and Doug Camp-bell were opening the old Cross

Timbers location as a book store and coffee shop, Ambrose vol-unteered to make pastry and breakfast items for the case.

Soon, Richards asked Am-brose if she wanted to take the over the coffee shop.

“My first reaction was ‘no, no, no’ but after some reflection, I decided to recruit my old team and make a ‘go’ of it,” she said. “The Keepers of the Promise of Azle agreed to be our breakfast guinea pigs meeting at 6 a.m. each Tuesday, and we were off!”

Soon, Ambrose’s family of former customers flocked to the new location with lots of seats and tons of parking.

“We love our customers – their lives are intertwined with ours,” she said. “We’ve made new friends along the way and love being part of such a vibrant community.”

Ambrose says she believes life is best when we push forward and stride for success. Some-times that success is small and sometimes it’s big – like receiv-ing the Businesswoman of the Year Award from the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce.

“This award makes all the ear-ly mornings, lack of sleep, and doctor visits between working hours’ worth it,” Ambrose says. “It’s not a sacrifice, but a privi-lege to be in Azle.”

SENIOR DISCOUNTS

by mark k. campbellKent Durham was happy that

Midwest Waste Services won Business of the Year at the an-nual Azle Chamber banquet.

But he said any number of lo-cal businesses was just as wor-thy.

“I’m humbled that we were chosen when there are so many other businesses that do so much good in this community,” Dur-

ham said.He arrived in Azle about eight

years ago, ready to leave Fort Worth for the kind of country-side living he grew up in.

A lawyer, Durham got into the waste management business when in June 2011 a partner in Wichita Falls came up with” the vision.”

That vision was a collection business serving smaller com-

munities.“Sometimes big services fo-

cus on big towns,” Durham said. “And those outside the cities can get neglected. We proved we could provide the same services as a big company.”

Midwest came to Azle and the surrounding areas in March of 2012 and was an immediate hit.

And that reputation has grown, in part thanks to flyers handed out in the Chamber office.

“That exposure has been a great help,” Durham said.

In fact, the company’s biggest growth has been in the Azle area, he added.

Future expansion for Midwest includes the Weatherford and Rhome/Decatur areas.

Many are attracted by Mid-west’s one-price fee. “We just charge one rate for everything; there are no extra fees,” he said. “It’s a simple approach that peo-

ple seem to like.“I think trash pickup is meant

to be local.”Durham said he has no plans

to leave Azle anytime soon.“We have a lot of ties here

now, plus my law firm,” he said. The wording on the award

says it best: “In recognition and appreciation of the admirable example your business has set earning the respect of the Azle community.”

Event Venue by Natalie GeNtryPresenter Shadi Sutton de-

scribed the owner of Laura’s Phar-macy – Laura Temple – as the kind of person who goes above and beyond.

“She doesn’t just do what is needed to run a business,” Sutton said. “She does whatever it takes to make sure her customers are well taken care of.”

Temple is a hometown girl who graduated from Azle High School and then from the University of North Texas.

After that she graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with her degree as a pharmacist in 1999.

Temple married Bobby – a fel-low Azle alum – in 1994 and their two children, Dylan and Logan, now attend Azle Junior High.

She decided to open her own business when the previous phar-macy she worked at closed.

“I grew up here and I want to provide a certain level of care that isn’t always possible with a (phar-macy) chain,” Temple said.

In fact, Sutton said that custom-ers often brag that Laura and her staff treat them like family

Laura’s Pharmacy is a com-pounding pharmacy and offers free deliver within the Azle city limits.

When looking to the future, Temple foresees continued devel-

opment.“I want to continue to grow so

we can provide durable medical supplies.” Temple said.

Sutton said that Laura’s Phar-macy stands out among the rest.

“She shows empathy and en-couragement to everyone she meets and that customers weren’t just treated as another person, but were treated with respect and well taken care of.” Sutton said.

“Starting a business is a scary thing,” Temple said. “Receiving this award is an honor and I’m so thankful.”

by carla noah stutsmanJanet Roberts has lived in several spots around

the U.S. thanks to her husband, John’s employ-ment with BNSF Railroad.

She’s worked as a 911 operator in Tulsa and as a dispatcher in Adams County, Iowa, for ex-ample.

But she thinks their moving days are over, and says Azle will be “home” from here on out.

“We like the weather and we really like the people here,” Roberts said.

Roberts accepted the Director’s Award at the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards Banquet.

Selected by the executive director of the Chamber, the award is for the person who has most impacted and/or helped the director during the year.

For Executive Director Beth Crowe, it was an easy choice, partly because Roberts was her pre-decessor in the position.

Roberts held the top position in the Chamber for four years, from 2009 until her departure in May 2013.

But she’s made herself available to Crowe out of a desire to see her – and the Chamber – suc-ceed.

Calling Roberts the “single most influential, behind-the-scenes force the Chamber has known this year,” Crowe said Roberts invested in the

success of the community and its Chamber with no expectation of return.

“Throughout all our interactions, she has clearly expressed her principles, ethics and ide-als for authentic, dynamic and just plain positive living,” Crowe said in presenting the award to Roberts. “And I will tell you she doesn’t just say the words – she lives it out through her actions. She values and demonstrates integrity, honesty, and altruism.”

Roberts said she was honored and pleased to receive the award.

“I’m so very grateful,” she said. “And I was very surprised – they really got me!”

She said she was grateful for the opportunity to work for the Chamber, especially since she was a newcomer to Azle at the time she accepted the director’s position in 2009.

“I built relationships with people in this com-munity that will last a lifetime, and I had a board that was so supportive and kind,” Roberts said. “I’d like to thank Beth (Crowe) and the board for this award.”

The Robertses have two grown children – a son in Missouri and a daughter in Oklahoma – and Janet looks forward to frequent visits to both states to visit her three “darling grandbabies.”

Otherwise, Roberts says she’s anticipating summer, with its camping, canoeing, and spend-ing time with family and friends.

Roberts always a Friend of the Chamber

by mark k. campbellMark Laudenheimer and his

family had 80 years of retail busi-ness in their blood – in Louisiana.

When his Cajun Brookshire’s venture closed, he was told there was an opening in a small town in Texas.

Initially, his pregnant wife – eight months along – wasn’t cra-zy about heading to some place called Azle.

“She started crying,” Lauden-heimer recalled. “She didn’t know where Azle was and couldn’t be-lieve we were going to move out in the country. I was feeling ter-rible.”

But, after researching the town, she called her husband back in 10

minutes and said, “Let’s go!”So they did.“And it’s the best thing we ever did.”The Laudenheimers got here in

2010. Mark just won the Cham-ber’s coveted Member of the Year award...and he didn’t see it com-ing.

“I thought I was going to get something for being an Ambassa-dor,” he said.

Lauded for “grateful apprecia-tion of your loyalty, dedication, and time given to the Azle com-munity,” the honor was much appreciated by the manager of Azle’s Brookshire’s.

“It was a surprise,” he said. “There are more deserving people than me that do a lot more than I do.”

It’s the people that have so en-amored the Laudenheimers with Azle.

“They have welcomed me from day one,” he said. “That’s what I really love about this place. My family had deep roots where we came from; we knew everybody in town.

“My first day here, people were unbelievably nice. They were very welcoming.”

Becoming part of the Chamber was important, too.

“You get to know who is in the community,” he said. “You see

who cares about the community, because they’re out giving their time and dedicating themselves to bettering the community.

“It’s not all business – it’s about

bettering the community.”Now, Laudenheimer is Azle

through and through: “I’m not going anywhere unless they run me off.”

ACE OF AZLE

By Natalie GeNtryJames Wood has been in the car

business since 1963.He opened his first new-car

dealership 35 years ago.He has been selling pre-owned

cars for approximately 20 years. And he opened the Azle branch

six years ago. This year, the Azle location will

celebrate the grand opening of a new office building and lot.

“We are very proud to have a store in Azle,” Wood said. “And we’re so happy our new building will finally be an addition the city can be proud of too.”

The Azle branch – like all Neighborhood Autos pre-owned car locations – focuses on financ-ing vehicles for all credit types.

They offer a variety of payment options, but many customers take advantage of their in-house fi-nancing.

“We help people with mistakes on their credit find a nice vehicle.” Wood said.

With eight locations throughout the region, Neighborhood Autos has a larger selection of vehicles than what may be sitting on the lo-cal lot.

And all vehicles have been put through a 75-point inspection by certified mechanics.

“We have a shop whose only purpose is to process these used cars and make sure they are in excellent condition before we put them on the lot,” Wood explained. “I’ve been in this area most of my life and we have a good name as far as doing what we say we’ll do and being honest and forthright.”

That’s the reason Neighbor-hood Autos provides the stress-free guarantee which includes a 72-hour buy back guarantee and a 24-month, 30,000 mile powertrain warranty.

“If someone isn’t happy with a car, we’d rather them not have it,” Wood said. “We want them to be happy, so if we can’t find a car that does that, they can get their money back.”

Driving off a lot in a new or pre-owned car often represents the end of a customer’s experience with a dealership.

Not at Neighborhood Autos. They have a team of represen-

tatives who keep in touch with customers to provide continued support.

“We want our customer to know we are here to help if something should happen and money becomes tight,” Wood said. “We understand

that life has its ups and downs and we want to work with our custom-ers to keep them in a car.”

A sign is posted on the wall in

the new office in Azle that says “We focus on your future, not your past. We finance you,” and customers can expect nothing less.

by mark k. campbell“Everybody is somebody to us!”That’s the mantra of Star Banks,

including the branch in Lake Worth. There, ready to serve a variety of

banking needs, you can find a slew of friendly people – including Dena Hall.

An assistant vice-president, Hall has been involved in banking for decades.

She began her 30-year career at First Bank in Azle where she worked 25 years.

The AHS grad, Class of 1984, still calls Azle home.

Hall said she remains involved in the community, adding that the Lake Worth Star Bank branch has several people with Azle ties.

Everyone at the bank focuses on making sure each customer gets the “personal touch. People are not just a number here.”

Hall loves the business.“It’s all I’ve ever done.” That in-

cludes stints as a bookkeeper and teller: “I’ve done something in all the departments.”

And those Azle ties reach to working with the Azle Lions Club and being a Chamber of Commerce

Ambassador.Hall said she likes the Christian

atmosphere at her bank and work-ing for a company that “takes care of their employees.”

Star Bank, chartered in 1998 and independently owned, offers an ar-ray of services including a Master-Card ATM card and online banking.

You can also sign up for FileX-

Vault, software that allows paper documents to be scanned then kept in a “virtual desktop.”

Remote deposit capture allows businesses to scan checks for de-posit.

Star Bank branches are located at White Settlement and Burleson as well as Lake Worth.

It’s the latter that Hall says Azle folks will enjoy visiting, for ser-vice and convenience: “We’re right down the road.”

Star Bank lives by its motto

azle resident Dena Hall works as an assistant vice-president at the Star bank branch in lake Worth. She said the bank is sub-stantially involved with azle.

by Natalie GeNtryHealth First Azle Family Practice

has been offering professional care and aid to the community for years, and their success is due in part to the pair of experienced doctors at its helm.

Kriss Myers, M.D. grew up in Longview, attending school there before heading to Stephen F. Austin

State University for his undergradu-ate education.

After earning a diploma in 1983, Myers attended graduate school at University of Texas Medical School, where he completed studies in 1987.

His family practice residency was undertaken at JPS in Fort Worth in 1990.

During this time, he practiced

family medicine in Nocona, but moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1990 to start HealthFirst with several other doctors.

In 1995, Myers became associ-ated with Dr. James Savage in Azle, and still cares for some of his pa-tients today.

At that time, Myers moved to Azle from the Metroplex.

In 2000, he opened the clinic where it stands today, and now em-ploys two physicians, three nurse practitioners and three physician as-sistants.

Myers and his wife, Ronah, have five children, three of whom have graduated from, or are currently at-tending Louisiana State University. The family is, of course, big fans of LSU.

When not caring for the citizens of Azle, Dr. Myers enjoys playing golf.

P. Daniel Gonzalez, M.D. was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of a retired naval officer.

He grew up in Florida, along the east coast of the U.S. and in Cali-fornia.

By the time he started tenth grade, Gonzalez had been enrolled in ten schools.

He started high school at Arling-ton Bowie and graduated there in 1983.

He went on to earn a bachelor de-gree from Texas A&M University in 1987 and received his Master’s there as well, in 1989.

Gonzalez then went to work for Kraft for five years before mak-

ing the decision to attend medical school at UT Southwestern in Dal-las, where he graduated in 1998.

He completed his residency at John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth.

Gonzalez was Board certified in Family Medicine in 2001 and in Sleep Medicine in 2009.

He now practices Family Medicine and Sleep for Sleep Healers, which is part of the HealthFirst system.

He lives in the Metroplex with his wife D’ann. The couple has two daughters, one of which is follow-ing family tradition at Texas A&M University.

Gonzalez is a lifetime Aggie fan and loves to hunt when not spend-ing time with his family or at the practice.

Family practice led by family men
