A MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends, Since 1926, Catholic Charities has been providing hope and changing lives for countless men, women and children in the Archdiocese of Omaha. The generous support of hundreds of employees and thousands of volunteers and friends has allowed us to continually adapt to meet the needs of our ever-growing community.

In 2014, we introduced and expanded many programs and services including a new transitional living program for youth aged 16-21 in the community. This program provides youth in recovery with support and guidance in a structured environment to help them succeed.

We also started a new partnership with Christ the King Priory in Schuyler, Nebraska to reopen El Puente Immigration Legal Services, providing affordable and accredited immigration legal assistance in rural Nebraska.

2014 was also a year for celebration, as we commemorated the 20th anniversary of our Microbusiness program. Over this program’s history, we have graduated over 800 students in our business training classes, served almost 3,900 clients with technical assistance, providing over 15,000 hours of service, and helped secure over $1.4 million in loans for our small business owners.

The Catholic Charities staff, board of directors and volunteers are deeply touched by the generosity of our wonderful contributors. Without your kindness and goodwill, we would not be able to bring Christ’s love to our neighbors who need it most.

LOOK WHAT HAPPENED IN 2014!

Students in the Christ Child Summer Camp program had the opportunity to go on many fun and educational field trips, thanks to a special grant from the Peter Kiewit Foundation.

Students visited the zoo, traveled down the Missouri on the River City Star, learned about stars at the UNO Planetarium and much more!

Staff at Omaha Campus for Hope celebrated National Recovery Month in September by wearing purple and hosting a special recovery picnic for clients.

Clients and staff enjoyed a picnic lunch served by Catholic Charities leadership!

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert joined Catholic Charities for the 20th anniversary of the Microbusiness Program in May 2014.

The Microbusiness program helps clients create and grow their small business. In 2014, over 50 new businesses were started.

Over 300 people participated in The Hunger Run 5K in June raising vital funds for Catholic Charities food pantries.

Irish Fest Blazin’ Shamrocks on March 1, 2014 was a huge success! More than 600 people raised over $350,000 to support the life-changing and life-saving services at Catholic Charities.

In support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), the Domestic Violence Services Team participated in the Omaha March to EndDomestic Violence.

Catholic Charities joined with our community partners to share our dedication to breaking the cycle of domestic violence in our community.

The Catholic Charities Christ Child Main Senior Program honored those who have served in the armed forces and remembered those we have lost in a special Veteran’s Day ceremony.

The senior program at Christ Child North meets three times a week, providing socialization, education and meals for seniors in North Omaha.

The second annual Columbus Golf Outing on September 17, 2014 was a fun, exciting day of golf with all proceeds benefiting the Columbus Community Center.

Over 100 golfers joined in on the fun and made a difference for Catholic Charities services in Columbus, Nebraska.

Catholic Charities Family Services hosted the annual Adoption Mass to honor and celebrate those whose lives have been impacted by adoption.

Fr. James Keiter officiated the mass at St. John Vianney on November 2, 2014 in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month.

The Catholic Charities Junior Board hosted the 8th annual Hoops for Hope event prior to the Creighton Bluejays home basketball game on November 16.
