January 2013▪ The Bellevue Business

Professional Women honored Ollie Garrett with Woman of the Year.

▪ Walmart Foundation Gives Tabor $25,000 for its Minority Business Incubator Program.

▪ President Garrett appointed to the Diversity Oversight Committee for Sound Transit.

▪ Sent a letter to Governor Inslee addressing African-American Priorities for Washington State Government.

February 2013▪ Tabor Member, Nate Miles is

named the Chair of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle Board of Directors.

March 2013▪ Doreen Cato a former member and chair of

Tabor’s Ad Hoc Committee, International Affairs before moving to Ocean Shores was appointed to the states new Charter School Commission and Trish Millines Dziko of Vashon is the co-chair of the Committee for Excellence in the Seattle School District.

▪ Frank Lemos provided testimony in support of House Bill 1674 and Senate Bill 5349.

▪ Tabor hosts first New Member Orientation.

▪ Tabor Members Ollie Garrett, Nancy Locke, Len Simpson met in Olympia with the new Director of Labor & Industries, Joel Sacks, and his staff to discuss concerns and suggestions regarding on-call contracts utilized by the City of Seattle and details about Tabor’s broader interest in working with Labor and Industries.

April 2013▪ Tabor participates in the University

of Washington’s 11th annual Regional Contracting Forum.

▪ Technical Assistance Committee is now known as the Business Development Committee.

▪ Tabor offers members a free tutorial on using the website and other technology available to them.

▪ President Garrett appointed to the King County Civil Rights Commission.

May 2013

▪ Tabor 100 volunteers Kibibi Monie, Eboni and Ronnie Smith, Ronnie Saunders, and Calvin Saunders volunteer at Seattle MESA day— supporting students, teachers, and parents with innovative, hands-on programs and opportunities.

▪ Tabor members attend the City Club Business Lunch with Governor Inslee.

June 2013▪ Tabor 100 joins the Washington State

Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to host a meeting to discuss the newly completed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program Disparity Study.

▪ Tabor hosted a Mayor Candidates forum with Mayor Mike McGinn, Councilmember Bruce Harrell, State Senator Ed Murray, and Peter Steinbrueck.

▪ Tabor participated in the Seattle Chamber of Commerce’s B2B Tradeshow.

▪ Long standing Tabor member and recipient of a Crystal Eagle Award, Dean Emeritus William Bradford is inducted into Minority Business Hall of Fame.

July 2013▪ Tabor 100 is awarded ESN Grant

for Education Advocacy.

▪ Tabor educates community about the results of the Disparity Study and what it means to the community.

▪ Tabor hosts Candidate Forum with Dow Constantine, Albert Shen and Richard Conlin.

August 2013▪ Tabor sponsored the third

successful Summer Youth Education Program (SYEP), which replaced the summer arts program providing math, science, Washington State History, economics, and literary arts education to high school students.

September 2013▪ Janice Bryant Howroyd is

keynote presenter at 14th Annual Captains of Industry Gala.

▪ Crystal Eagle Award winners: Dr. Bill Bradford, Leonard Simpson, Chris Hansen, Vulcan, Walmart, Sandy Hanks, and the Seattle Chamber of Commerce.

▪ President Garrett appointed to the Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB).

October 2013▪ Tabor members meet with

Mayor-candidate Ed Murray to discuss his campaign and plans if he is successful.

▪ Tabor Board members met with the Washington Beverage Association (WBA) to discuss Economic Prosperity and Partnership with Tabor 100.

November & December 2013▪ Tabor members are included in Mayor-

elect Ed Murray’s Transition Team.

▪ Tabor 100 receives 2013 Advocate of the Year Award at the 4th Annual Champion of Inclusion Awards and Business After Hours Reception hosted by the Port of Seattle, Sound Transit, and Washington State Department of Transportation.

▪ Attended Mayor-Elect  Press Conference.

▪ Met with Wal-Mart to reestablish Scholarship and Internship program.

▪ Met in Olympia with Governor’s Office and WSDOT to discuss the DBE Goal setting.

▪ Over 80 WMBE businesses attended the Governor’s Minority Business Policy Pre-Summit hosted by the Government Affairs Committee Chair Frank Lemos.
