For ASCE's September Branch meeting, join us for a discussion with JimSmith, a University of Virginia civil and environmental engineer and
professor who co-leads a project which has developed a simple ceramicwater purficiation tablet. An article was written in UVAToday whichdetails this innovative product which can be read here. From thearticle:
"Called MadiDrop, the tablet - developed and extensively tested at U.Va. - is a small ceramic disk impregnated with silver or coppernanoparticles. It can repeatedly disenfect water for up to six monthssimply by resting in a vessel where water is poured. It is beingdeveloped for use in communities in South Africa that have little to noaccess to clean water."
