HISTORY OF EQUESTRIAN MINISTRIES
Equestrian Ministries International (EMI)
was formed in 1995 by eight Christian
men with a mutual vision of an international
ministry involving horses and sharing the
love of God. Since then, the membership of
this non-profit, non-denominational ministry
has grown and expanded reaching not only
coast to coast in the United States, but
also in several other countries.

The South Carolina chapter, known as South
Carolina Equestrian Ministries (SCEM),
formed in 1997 and is currently comprised
of several different fellowships representing
various geographical areas throughout the
state. Information and links for each
fellowship can be found on the SCEM website.

Our local fellowship, White Horse Equestrian
Ministries (WHEM), began in 2001 and reaches
out to those in the Greater Columbia Area. As
members we enjoy Christian fellowship with
other equestrians who desire to share God’s
love and the Gospel of Jesus Christ through
various activities and events involving horses.

EM is open to all who share belief in Jesus
Christ. Our common doctrine of faith is Jesus
Christ as the Son of God. He was born of a
virgin and walked among us as a human being.
He died on a cross so that all who believe in
Him may be saved from their sins and have
eternal life. He was raised from the dead and
ascended into Heaven. He will someday
return in power and glory to judge the world.
EM is an evangelistic outreach and exists to
promote netweaving among the Christian
horse community. Our members are a
mixture of equine industry professionals and
people from various walks of life who ride
horses for pleasure and/or show. Some own
horses, some breed horses, some buy and
sell horses, but all appreciate the grace and
beauty of horses. All equestrian disciplines
and breeds are included and encouraged.

Our Mission Statement
White Horse Equestrian Ministries is a fellowship
of believers in Christ who love horses!
Our Mission is to reach the Greater Columbia Area
for Christ through the use of horses!
(Owning a horse is not a requirement for membership).
LOCAL MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
One of the ways WHEM reaches out to our local community
is through Education. Topics related to horse care/training
are discussed and demonstrated. Meetings are not only
open to members, but those in the community are
encouraged to participate as well.
We also have Ministry opportunities to assist local
organizations such as a children’s home, a therapeutic
riding facility and recently a Deaf church by donating
needed supplies/equipment, teaching basic horse
care/riding skills, assisting in benefit horse shows and
giving pony/cart rides at special events. We’ve also been
able to provide funds for families/organizations in need.
Lastly, we have opportunities for Outreach by hosting special
events. We’ve invited communities from across the state to
our Annual Statewide Trail Ride, a camping/riding weekend
filled with fun, fellowship, food, singing and worship. We’ve
also hosted Family Fun Days where the community can
participate in activities for all ages: face painting, door
prizes, special demonstrations and challenging games both
on and off the horse. We’ve also been able to open several
of our local horse shows with prayer and provide a brief
devotional as well as do a patriotic Drill Team presentation.
We can be available to speak at your church, school/home
school, 4-H, scout or horse club to share about EM
(avail in ASL). We may be able, by special arrangement, to
bring horses to your location for demonstrations. Since
this is a non-profit organization, any donations given to
WHEM will be used by the ministry for further outreach.
