John McGillicuddy Middle School Principal

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! Here at First Baptist Academy, we strive for excellence in all we do. In the high school athletic program, you will find dedicated Christian coaches who are developing life skills in our high school students. An athletic program is an integral part of the de-velopment of our students’ all-around character. It is a privilege to partner with you to raise the next generation so that they can positively impact their world for the Kingdom. I am looking forward to watching and cheering on our teams and players. Go Lions! 4HG! Serving,

Leigh Anne Bates High School Principal

As we embark on another new school year, we are excited to see how God continues to grow the Athletic program at FBA. We recognize that participation in athletics provides unique opportunities for students to gain individual and team building skills, as they develop good sportsmanship under the direction and supervision of dedicated Christian coaches. These skills will equip them for life, learning and leadership. In upper elementary grades, students participate in a variety of competitive sports enabling them to develop skill, strength, and agility, for the Middle School sports program. Our desire is to train Col. 3:23 athletes...those who give their best effort as unto the Lord, and reflect Christ in all they do as representatives of His kingdom. For His Glory! Linda H. Shaw Elementary Principal

As the Principal of First Baptist Academy Middle School, I want to welcome you to another exciting year of athletics for the glory of God. We at First Baptist Academy place great value upon the significant impact athletics play in the life of our total school program and the individual life of the student. Not only does sports training and competitions build character, it also helps our students develop from the stage of individual competent skills to interdependent reliance that makes a team strong and resilient. Athletics is not an add-on at First Baptist Academy. It is heart and soul along with our academic and fine arts programs that develop young champions for Christ. Again, welcome to another exciting year where The Lion rules. In His Service,

Our athletic programs are a critical component of our mission. They provide a unique opportunity to teach life lessons that cannot be taught in the classroom. Our theme for this school year is Work - God’s Gift to Me! Here at FBA we take seriously our responsibility to prepare the whole student for service to the King of Kings. Please know that your valued support of our athletic program is making a difference. We are thankful for your interest and support and look forward to yet another year of productive service for the Kingdom. In His service,

I give thanks to the Lord for what He is doing in this place. To see God’s hand of blessing being poured out on this campus has been awesome. May we, His people, give Him all the glory for what He has done and will do as we follow His lead. I am personally thankful for the opportunity to serve as the Athletic Director here at FBA. May we never cease to strive to give nothing but our best for His glory. We must always use athletics as a platform where student athletes will develop strong Christian character and a biblical worldview; striving to reach individual and team excellence in the athletic arena, while reaching our community for Jesus Christ. For His Glory!

Dear friend: I want to thank you for your interest in and support for First Baptist Academy and its athletic department. We are excited that we witness greater involvement each year by our students and more passionate in-volvement by our fans, families, and friends. We praise the Lord for beautiful facilities, which are among the finest in the nation. Naturally, I continue to be impressed with the character of our committed coaches and their support staff. As you read this letter, you may likely be attending one of our games. I often think of Yogi Berra, the great Yankees catcher and his entertaining comment: “If the people don’t want to come out to the park, nobody is going to stop them.” Thank you for “coming out” in what is often challenging weather and heavy traffic. Also, thank you for desiring thoroughly Christian education for our students. Thank you for praying for the safety of our athletes and for the Lord’s protection of our coaches as they sacrifice much time, not only to build winners but disciples of Jesus Christ. Pray that our greatest goal will always be the glory of God and not the score on the board. Jim Taylor, another former great athlete, explained the greatness of the Green Bay Packers and their quar-terback of another era, Bart Starr: “We hitched our wagon to a Starr.” We have “hitched our wagon” to the Son of God, the Bright and Morning Star, the Lord Jesus Christ. For His Glory, Dr. Hayes Wicker Senior Pastor FBCN

First Baptist Church Naples REAL FACTS OF LIFE

Would you like to hear some good news? Suppose you were standing in front of God and He asked you about your personal relation-ship with Him with this question: "Why should I let you in my heaven?" What would you say? Fact 1: God has a purpose for you He loves you very much. He made you and wants to have a wonderful relationship with you. He wants to give you a meaningful life here and eternal life in Heaven. "The gift of God is eternal life," according to the Bible (Romans 6:23). God has offered this free gift, but it is usually unclaimed. Fact 2: Your Problem Some give no thought to God or eternity. Others try to get to God through religion by doing religious things to gain God's favor. Tragically, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12) But how much is enough? Actually, all fall short of God's perfect standard. "For all have sinned" (Romans 3:23). The penalty for sin is separation from God forever in a place of unbelievable horror called Hell. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Fact 3: Jesus Christ's Rescue Jesus is God who became a man, living the perfect life you could never live. He did what you could not 'd-o', therefore Christianity is spelled 'd-o-n-e.' "But God demonstrated his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Does this make sense to you? Are you willing to turn from your sin and receive Jesus right now? This prayer can express your heart's desire: Dear Lord Jesus ... I realize that I can't rescue myself... I believe that you died for me to pay the penalty for my sins...I want to turn from my sins... I accept Your forgiveness, Your new life, and Your home in Heaven. Thank You, Lord. Help me to live for You... In Your name I pray. Amen Turning to Jesus involves receiving. His gift of forgiveness for sins, Eternal Life and a new life by believing He died for you. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Faith is not just believing facts, but also acting on them.
