Introduction

InfotainmentRead the following pages tobecome familiar with theinfotainment system features.

{ WARNING

Taking your eyes off the roadfor too long or too often whileusing any infotainment featurescan cause a crash resulting ininjury or death. Do not giveextended attention toinfotainment tasks whiledriving. Focus your attentionon driving and limit glances tothe instrument cluster or centerstack screens. Use voiceguidance whenever possible.

The infotainment system has built-infeatures intended to help preventdistracted driving by disabling somefunctions. A grayed-out function isnot available when the vehicle ismoving.

Many primary infotainment featuresare also available by using theinstrument cluster and steeringwheel controls.

Before driving:. Become familiar with the

operation, buttons on thefaceplate, and screen buttons.

. Set up the audio by settingfavorite stations, setting thetone, and adjusting speakers.

. Set up phone numbers inadvance so they can be calledby pressing a single button or byusing a single voice commandfor vehicles equipped withBluetooth® phone capability.

The infotainment system iscontrolled by using the touchscreen,the buttons below the touchscreen,steering wheel controls, and voicerecognition.

Power (On/Off/Mute)

. When off, press O (1) to turnthe system on. Press and hold toturn off.

. When on, press O to mute the

system. Press O again tounmute the system.

Retained Accessory Power (RAP)

The vehicle has RAP. When in RAPthe audio system can be playedeven after the ignition is turned off.See “Retained Accessory Power(RAP)” in the Index of the ownermanual.

Volume

The black area above the chromebar (2) is used to increase ordecrease the volume. There arethree ways to adjust the volume:. Slide a finger.. Press.. Press and hold.

Home Page

The Home Page (3) is where vehiclefeature icons are accessed. Somefeatures are disabled when thevehicle is moving.

The Home Page can be set up tohave up to five pages with eighticons per page.

Press the left u or rightv toaccess the pages of icons.

v (Next): Press to go to the nextHome Page.

u (Previous): Press to go to theprevious Home Page.

k (Interaction Selector): Press todisplay the favorites list.



Press and hold a location within thefavorites area to begin the processof saving a favorite application.

Press the application icon to storeas a favorite, and the name of theapplication will be shown infavorites.

Home: Press to go back to theHome Page to start a differentapplication.

Audio

Press the AUDIO icon to display theactive audio source page. Availablesources are AM, FM, XMCD, MyMedia, USB, SD, Bluetooth, AUXInput.

Phone

Press the PHONE icon to displaythe Phone main page. SeeBluetooth (Overview) on page 89 orBluetooth (Voice Recognition) onpage 94 or Bluetooth (InfotainmentControls) on page 90.

NAV (Navigation, If Equipped)

Press the NAV icon to display thenavigation map or OnStar®

Turn-by-Turn Navigation. See Usingthe Navigation System on page 52or “OnStar Navigation” in the ownermanual.

Settings

Press the SETTINGS icon to displaythe Settings menu. See Settings onpage 97.

Managing Home Page Icons

1. Press and hold any of the HomePage icons to edit that icon.

2. Drag the icon to a new locationon the Home Page or to save itto the applications tray.

3. Press { to exit edit mode.

Pandora (If Equipped)

Press the PANDORA icon to beginPandora. See Pandora InternetRadio on page 22.

Weather (If Equipped)

Applications Tray

The applications tray is at thetop-center of the screen. Theapplications tray can have three tofive applications. Some of thetypically used applications are:

To add an applications from theHome Page to the applications tray:

1. Press and hold any icon on theHome Page to enter edit mode.

2. Drag the icon to theapplications tray.

To remove an item from theapplications tray, drag the iconfrom the applications tray backto the Home Page.

Adding or removing applicationsfrom the applications tray will notremove them from the Home Page.

Touchscreen Buttons

Touchscreen buttons show on thescreen when available. When afunction is unavailable, the buttonmay gray-out. When a function isselected, the button may highlight.

Proximity Sensing

The infotainment system usesproximity sensing. When enabled,certain screen buttons and featureswill become visible when a handapproaches the screen. When thehand is removed, thesefeatures fade.

Haptic Feedback

Haptic feedback is a pulse thatoccurs when a button is pressed onthe screen or when buttons belowthe screen are pressed.



Infotainment Gestures

Use the following finger gestures tocontrol the infotainment system.

Press

Press is used to select a button oroption, activate an application,or change the location inside a map.

Press and Hold

Press and hold can be used to startanother gesture, move, or delete anapplication.

Drag

Drag is used to move applicationson the Home Page, or to pan themap. To drag the item, it must beheld and moved along the screen tothe new location. This can be doneup, down, right, or left.



Nudge

Nudge is used to move items ashort distance on a list or a map. Tonudge, hold and quickly move theselected item up or down to a newlocation.

Fling or Swipe

Fling or swipe is used to scrollthrough a list, pan the map,or change page views. Do this byplacing a finger on the screen thenmoving it rapidly up and down orright and left.

Spread

Spread is used to zoom in on amap, certain images, or web page.Place finger and thumb together onthe screen, then move them apart.



Pinch

Pinch is used to zoom out on amap, certain images, or web page.Place finger and thumb apart on thescreen, then move them together.

Cleaning High Gloss Surfacesand Vehicle Information andRadio Displays

For vehicles with high glosssurfaces or vehicle displays, use amicrofiber cloth to wipe surfaces.Before wiping the surface with themicrofiber cloth, use a soft bristlebrush to remove dirt that could

scratch the surface. Then use themicrofiber cloth by gently rubbing toclean. Never use window cleanersor solvents. Periodically hand washthe microfiber cloth separately,using mild soap. Do not use bleachor fabric softener. Rinse thoroughlyand air dry before next use.

Steering Wheel ControlsThe infotainment steering wheelcontrols can be used to control theinfotainment features displayed inthe instrument cluster.

When in Valet Mode, access to theinfotainment functions is disabled.See Settings on page 97.

g : Press to talk or interact withBluetooth® and OnStar®. SeeBluetooth (Overview) on page 89 orBluetooth (Voice Recognition) onpage 94 or Bluetooth (InfotainmentControls) on page 90 and “OnStarOverview” in the owner manual.

c : Press to decline an incomingcall, or end a current call. Press tomute or unmute the infotainmentsystem when not on a call.



S or T : Press the five-way controlto the left or right to go to theprevious or next area in the displayor to the previous or next menu.

y orz : Press the five-waycontrol up or down to go up or downin a list or page.

SEL: Press to select a highlightedmenu item.

r orq (Next/PreviousFavorite): Press to go to the nextor previous favorite when listeningto the radio. Press to go to the nextor previous track when listening to amedia source.

x + or x − (Volume): Press toincrease or decrease the volume.

Instrument Cluster Features

For vehicles equipped with areconfigurable instrument cluster,there may be up to three interactivedisplay zones. See “InstrumentCluster” in the owner manual.

Cluster menu options may include:

Navigation: Available when a routeis downloaded. See Using theNavigation System on page 52.

Audio: Available when the radio ispowered on. See AM-FM Radio onpage 11.

Phone: Available when a Bluetoothphone is connected. See Bluetooth(Overview) on page 89 or Bluetooth(Voice Recognition) on page 94 orBluetooth (Infotainment Controls) onpage 90.

Settings: Press to display theSettings menu.

AM-FM Radio

Playing the Radio

While on the audio main page theavailable sources are: AM, FM, XM(if equipped), CD, My Media, USB,SD, Bluetooth, and AUX Input.. Press the RADIO screen button

to scroll through AM, FM,or SiriusXM (if equipped).

. Press the MEDIA screen buttonto scroll through CD (ifequipped), My Media, USB, SD,Bluetooth, and Aux Input.

Infotainment System Settings

Press the RADIO button to accessbroadcast sources.

Press the MENU screen button todisplay the following menus:

Tone Settings:. Bass, Midrange, Treble,

Surround (if equipped): Press +or − to adjust. Surround adjuststhe headrest speakervolume only.

. Balance: Press S or T for moresound from the left or rightspeakers. The middle positionbalances the sound between theleft and right speakers.

. Fade: Press UP or DOWN formore sound from the front orrear speakers. The middleposition balances the soundbetween the front and rearspeakers.

Tag Song: Press to tag songinformation, including artist and title,to transfer to an iPod®. If the iPod isnot attached, the information will betransferred when it is attached.Press OK to go back to the NowPlaying view.

Timeshift: Timeshift is therecording of a radio station for up to25 minutes. See “Timeshifting” laterin this section.

DSP Modes:. If equipped with Bose Studio

Surround® sound system, it willhave four DSP modes including:

‐ Normal: Adjusts the audio toprovide the best sound for allseating positions.

‐ Driver: Adjusts the audio toprovide the best sound for thedriver.

‐ Rear: Adjusts the audio toprovide the best sound for therear seat occupants.

‐ Centerpoint: Creates the bestsurround sound for the wholevehicle.



Auto Volume: If equipped, thisfeature adjusts the volume based onvehicle speed. The options are OFF,Low, Medium - Low, Medium,Medium - High, or High. Press[ Back to go back to theprevious menu.

Bose AudioPilot NoiseCompensation Technology:If equipped, this feature adjusts thevolume based on the noise in thevehicle. When turned on, AudioPilotdetects noise and vehicle speed tocontinuously adjust the audio signalso that music will sound the same ata set volume level. This feature ismost effective at lower radio volumesettings where background noisecan affect how well the music isbeing played. See www.bose.com/audiopilot. This feature can beturned on or off. Press [ Back to goback to the previous menu.

HD Radio Switching: For AM andFM only, press to turn HD receptionon or off. Press to go back to theprevious menu.

Update Station List: For AM andFM only, press to update the stationlist. Press to go back to theprevious menu.

Finding a Station

Seeking a Station

Presst oru to search for theprevious or next strongest station.

Tuning a Station

Press the SEEK screen button toswitch to TUNE. Press r or q tomanually search for a station. Pressagain to change back.

Storing Radio Station Presets

Favorites are stored in the area atthe bottom of the screen.

Up to 60 preset stations can bestored under the following:

AM, FM, XM (if equipped), HDRadio Stations: Press and hold ascreen button to save the currentstation as a favorite. Press a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite station.

Mixed-Audio Favorites

Favorites that can be stored includeradio stations, navigation,or applications.



To scroll through the favorites:. Drag anywhere on the screen

buttons along the bottom to raiseup the favorites. To close thefavorites, drag them down.

. Slide a finger to the right or leftto scroll through each page offavorites. A V indicates whichpage is being viewed.

Tone Settings: Press and hold ascreen button to save the currenttone settings as a favorite. Press ascreen button in the favorite area torecall a favorite tone settings.

Pandora Radio Stations: Pressand hold a screen button to storethe current station as a favorite.Press a screen button in the favoritearea to recall a favorite Pandorastation

The number of favorites displayed isautomatically adjusted by default,but can be manually adjusted in theSettings menu under Radio andthen Manage Favorites.

HD Radio TechnologyHD Radio™ Technology is a freeservice with features such asstatic-free sound, moreprogramming choices on local FMHD2, HD3, and higher, andon-screen information such as artistand song title.

Channel Access

To access HD Radio channels:

1. Tune the radio to the channel.If the channel is broadcastingHD Radio Technology, the radiowill automatically switch to digitalaudio, indicated with anHD logo.

2. Press SEEK t oru or TUNEq or r to tune to the previous ornext HD Radio channel.

There may be a delay before thechannel starts playing.

The HD Radio channel number isindicated next to the logo.

HD Radio channels can be savedas favorites. Songs can be taggedfor download to a connectediPhone® or iPod touch®.

When connected to iTunes®, theSynch button on the device mayneed to be pressed to transfer thetags to iTunes.

Troubleshooting

Digital Audio Delay: Wait for thesignal to process. This can takeseveral seconds.

Volume Change, Audio Skip,Echo, Digital Audio Lost: Channelsignal strength may be weak or thechannel is out of range. Verifyproper reception on anotherchannel.



If the HD Radio signal losesreception while listening to channelHD1, the radio will go back to themain non-HD Radio channel.

If the HD Radio signal losesreception while listening to channelsHD2 to HD8, the radio mutes untilthe signal can be recovered or untilthe channel is changed.

Timeshifting

The audio system can record liveradio for up to 25 minutes, Whentuned to a station, the systemautomatically begins recording theaudio along with the associatedmetadata.

Press j to pause playback of theaudio and to initiate timeshift mode.Press r to resume playback of thelive audio.

When timeshifting begins, a time isindicated on the right of the play/pause indicator. This time initiallyindicates the time of day at whichplayback is paused. This timecontinues to show as long as thesystem is in a paused mode and thebuffer continues to fill.

Buffer Reset

The buffer will reset anytime thebroadcast band or stations/channelsare changed. Changing to a mediasource when the pause button ispressed or while pressing the LIVEbutton will not reset the buffer.

Rewinding or Fast Forwarding aTimeshifted Broadcast. Press and hold the rewind

indicator to reverse playback ata rate of 15 times the rate ofnormal playback.

. Press and hold the fast forwardindicator to advance playback ata rate of 15 times the rate ofnormal playback. The timeshiftbuffer can be advanced up tothe end of the timeshift bufferand return to live mode.

Returning to Live Broadcast

If listening to timeshifted radio,press the LIVE button to return tolive radio.

Timeshifting and Station/ChannelLists

If browsing a station/channel list isstarted while listening to thetimeshift content, the list content isshown in live time not buffered time.

Skipping Back in a Broadcast

For programs with metadata,pressing the previous button lessthan five seconds into a programwill make the system skip to thebeginning of the previous program.If more than five seconds into thecurrent song/program, the system



starts at the beginning of the currentprogram. If no metadata is available,the system skips back 30 seconds.

Reaching the End of Buffer

If the audio is paused and the25-minute buffer is reached, thebuffer continues recording content ina first-in, first-out basis. Whenplayback is started, the contentplayed will be the last 25 minutes inthe buffer.

Satellite Radio

SiriusXM® Satellite RadioService (If Equipped)

Vehicles with a valid SiriusXMsatellite radio subscription canreceive SiriusXM programming.

SiriusXM satellite radio has a widevariety of programming andcommercial-free music, coast tocoast, and in digital-quality sound.See www.siriusxm.com or call1-866-635-2349 in the U.S. InCanada, see www.xmradio.ca or call1-877-209-0079.

When SiriusXM is active, the stationname, number, category name,song title, and artist display on thescreen.

SiriusXM Menu

SiriusXM has a menu to adjustdifferent features.

Pressing the MENU screen buttonmay display the following:

Tone Settings: Press + or − toadjust the tone settings. See AM-FMRadio on page 11.

Tag Song: Press the Tag Songbutton to tag the current artist andsong information.

When connected to iTunes®, theSynch button on iTunes may needto be pressed to transfer thesong tags.

Timeshift: Press to turn Timeshifton or off. See AM-FM Radio onpage 11.

TuneSelect: For SiriusXM only, thisfeature allows alerts for artists orsongs that are played on any otherchannel. Press Artist or Song tosave an Artist or Song in theManage TuneSelect menu. PressManage TuneSelect to turn thealerts On and Off or manage thesaved selection of Artists or Songs.To unselect an alert, press the Songor Artist. To delete an alert, press −.Press [ Back to go back to theprevious menu.

Auto Volume: If equipped, thisfeature adjusts the volume based onthe vehicle speed. See AM-FMRadio on page 11.



Bose AudioPilot NoiseCompensation Technology:If equipped, this feature adjusts thevolume based on the noise in thevehicle. See AM-FM Radio onpage 11.

SiriusXM Messages

XL (Explicit LanguageChannels): These channels, or anyothers, can be blocked by request,by calling 1-866-635-2349 in theU.S., or 1-877-209-0079 in Canada.

Loading XM: The audio system isacquiring and processing audio andtext data. No action is needed.

Channel Off Air: This channel isnot currently in service.

Channel Not Authorized: Thischannel is blocked or cannot bereceived.

Channel Not Available: Thispreviously assigned channel is nolonger assigned.

No XM Signal/Reception May BeBlocked: The vehicle may be in alocation where the XM signal isbeing blocked. When the vehicle ismoved into an open area, the signalshould return.

XM Radio ID: Tune to channel 0 todisplay the XM radio ID numberused to activate XM service.

Check Antenna: If this messagedoes not clear within a short periodof time, the receiver could have afault. Consult with your dealer.

SiriusXM Weather (IfEquipped)

SiriusXM Weather is available onthe navigation system through aservice fee subscription.

From the Home Page, pressWEATHER. The system displaysthe current weather page.

Current Condition

The current weather page displays:. Doppler Map with Weather. Forecast Information. Interaction Selector. Status. Time of Map Update. Applications Tray

Allow approximately 15 minutes forthe current weather in the area todisplay.



Weather Regions

When in the weather application,press the Menu icon to display asplit map. The list displayed on theleft of the split map allows changesto the location.

The Doppler map and forecastinformation displays a preview ofthe map for the location selected.The forecast information is for thecurrent weather or next availableforecast data.

Press the EXIT screen button toreturn to the main weather map.

Press one of the options displayedon the Interaction Selector along thebottom of the map screen to selectanother function or display anothertype of list.

Weather Screen Not UnderGuidance

The weather application uses thenavigation system to provide theappropriate information for theguidance route. When not underguidance, it defaults to the currentlocation.

Doppler Map: The Doppler map isshown with the vehicle location inthe center of the map.

City and State: The city and stateare displayed for the view currentlyshown. The default is the currentcity and state that the vehicle is in.

Forecast Information

. The map can be panned toanother location. The forecastinformation is updated to thenew location.

. The city and state update toreflect the current location.

. Press the RESET screen buttonto reset the map back to thecurrent vehicle location.



Weather Menu

Press MENU on the WeatherInteraction Selector along thebottom of the map screen to displaythe Weather Menu.

The options are:. Weather Advisories: Any

weather advisories that are ineffect for the local area or whileon route are displayed in a list.Press on an advisory from thelist to display a screen that givesadditional details about theadvisory and shows the advisorylocation on the map.

. Weather Alerts: Press to turn ONor OFF. The default is ON.

. Map Legend: Press to displaythe Map Legend.

Interaction Selector

The Interaction Selector at thebottom of the screen can be used toswitch between different viewswithin the weather screen.

These buttons are:. ZOOM − or ZOOM +: Press to

zoom the map in or out.. RESET: Press to reset the map

back to its original location.. SEARCH: Press to search for a

new weather map location. Thelast destination screen displays.Press any button along thebottom of the InteractionSelector to help find a differentdestination. These are recent,voice, and city.

Press Recent to display a list ofrecent locations that wererecently viewed for weather.

Press g to activate voicerecognition. State a city andstate or ZIP code. Follow thevoice prompts to find the desireddestination.

Press Cities to enter a city andstate or ZIP code.



Type a city or state name on thekeyboard screen to find theweather. If the state is omitted,the system assumes a city isbeing searched for within thecurrent state. If the ZIP code istyped, the system displays thecity associated with thatZIP code.

‐ If one match results from aweather search, the systemreturns to the map. The mapand forecast informationupdates for that location.

‐ If there are multiple resultsfrom the weather search, a listof possible matches displays.The map shows the first matchin the list along with thecurrent weather information inthe lower right corner.

. HOURLY: Press to display thehourly forecast for the currentvehicle location. A forecast iconis shown for each periodavailable.

. 36-HOUR: Press to display thecurrent weather, six-hourforecast, and tomorrow’sweather. A forecast icon isshown for each period available.

. DAILY: Press to display a dailyforecast for the next five days.A forecast icon is shown foreach period available.

. MENU: Press to display thecurrent advisories, turn weatheralerts on or off, and view themap legend.

. ROUTE: Press to display theforecasted weather for the route.This feature is only availablewhile under route guidance.

The map legend explains each typeof color or symbol on the map.

SiriusXM NavTraffic(If Equipped)

The infotainment system may haveSiriusXM NavTraffic. It is asubscription service provided

through SiriusXM Satellite Radio.A service fee is required to receivethe SiriusXM NavTraffic service.

Detailed traffic information isdelivered to the vehicle’s navigationsystem by the SiriusXM Radiosatellites. SiriusXM NavTrafficprovides continuously updatedtraffic information.

The service may be available inmore cities in the future. Visitwww.siriusxmnavtraffic.com formore details on local coverage.

To access the traffic features, pressthe Traffic screen button on theMap Menu.

Traffic Alert While Under Guidance

If data is received about a trafficdevelopment on the route ahead, asearch for a better route isperformed. If a better route is found,information may be displayed in analert. This alert displays the routeinformation and how much time maybe saved. If the alternative route isaccepted, the current route will bealtered.

If the alert is not acknowledged, thealert automatically times out anddoes not modify the route.

The detail view of the incidentshows any data about the incidentas well as how much time could besaved by avoiding it. The map viewshows the incident, the originalroute, and the suggested route.If voice prompts are enabled, theincident information is spoken.Press the Take New Route screenbutton to change to the new route.

Traffic Alert While Not UnderGuidance

While driving and not underguidance, the system can receivedata indicating an accident or slowtraffic flow. The information aboutthe incident or slow traffic isdisplayed as an alert when theincident is 5 km (3 mi) ahead. Theincident can be viewed on the map.Press the Dismiss screen button toreturn to the previous map.

Movie Listings

The movie theater POI can besearched through a POI search orbrowsed through the POI categorystructure. When the details for amovie theater are shown, there is



additional information about thetheater. If movie titles andshowtimes are available for theselected theater, this information isshown in the additional details areaof this display.

The details that are shown aredependent on the source of theinformation.

Details shown include:. Movie Names. Parental Ratings (G, PG-13,

R, etc.). Showtimes. Runtime

Fuel Pricing

When SiriusXM information isavailable for a particular fuel station,the price displays for the regularunleaded or diesel fuel, dependingon the fuel type configured in thesystem.

This fuel station POI can either besearched for through a POI searchor browsed through the POIcategory structure.. Press the Sort button to change

the sort method. The default sortmethod is based on distancewith the closest fuel stationsshown at the top of the list.

. Press the Sort button to cyclethrough the sorting options ofdistance, price, or name. Thelast viewed sorting method isdisplayed and is retained overignition cycles.

If the sorting method of price hasbeen selected, the fuel stations inthe list will appear from the lowest tothe highest price based on the fueltype selected. For gasoline, theprice shown is for regular unleaded.When diesel is selected as the fueltype, the diesel price is shown.

Radio ReceptionUnplug electronic devices from theaccessory power outlets if there isinterference or static in the radio.

FM

FM signals only reach about 16 to65 km (10 to 40 mi). Although theradio has a built-in electronic circuitthat automatically works to reduceinterference, some static can occur,especially around tall buildings orhills, causing the sound to fade inand out.

AM

The range for most AM stations isgreater than for FM, especially atnight. The longer range can causestation frequencies to interfere witheach other. Static can also occurwhen things like storms and powerlines interfere with radio reception.When this happens, try reducing thetreble on the radio.



SiriusXM® Satellite RadioService

If equipped, SiriusXM SatelliteRadio Service provides digital radioreception. Tall buildings or hills caninterfere with satellite radio signals,causing the sound to fade in andout. In addition, traveling or standingunder heavy foliage, bridges,garages, or tunnels may cause lossof the SiriusXM signal for a periodof time.

Cell Phone Usage

Cell phone usage, such as makingor receiving phone calls, charging,or just having the phone on maycause static interference in theradio. Unplug the phone or turn it offif this happens.

Backglass AntennaThe AM-FM antenna is integratedwith the rear window defogger in therear window. Do not scratch theinside surface or damage the linesin the glass. If the inside surface isdamaged, it could interfere withradio reception. For proper radioreception, the antenna connectorneeds to be properly attached to thepost on the glass.

If attaching a cell phone antenna tothe glass, attach it between the gridlines.

Notice: Using a razor blade orsharp object to clear the insiderear window can damage the rearwindow antenna and/or the rearwindow defogger. Repairs wouldnot be covered by the vehiclewarranty. Do not clear the insiderear window with sharp objects.

Notice: Do not apply aftermarketglass tinting with metallic film.The metallic film in some tintingmaterials will interfere with ordistort the incoming radio

reception. Any damage caused tothe backglass antenna due tometallic tinting materials will notbe covered by the vehiclewarranty.

Multi-Band AntennaThe roof antenna is for OnStar,SiriusXM® Satellite Radio (US andCanada only), and GPS (GlobalPositioning System). Keep clear ofobstructions for clear reception.If the vehicle has a sunroof, and it isopen, reception can also beaffected.

Pandora Internet RadioPandora® is a free Internet radioservice that streams personalizedradio stations based on artists,tracks, genres, and comedians.Create stations using the Pandorawebsite or Smartphone application,then use - (thumbs up) or ,(thumbs down) to personalizestations. To set up an account, or formore information, go to



www.pandora.com. Pandora maynot be available in Canada orMexico.

A phone or tablet with Internetconnection and the Pandoraapplication installed is required.Personal cell phone data plans areused. Make sure the latest versionis installed on the device.

Launching Pandora

Connect the iPhone to the USBport, or connect Android orBlackBerry® through Bluetooth. SeeAuxiliary Jack on page 33 orBluetooth (Overview) on page 89 orBluetooth (Voice Recognition) onpage 94 or Bluetooth (InfotainmentControls) on page 90. For first timeuse, set up the stations beforeconnecting to the vehicle. ThePandora icon will be available onthe Home Page.

When Pandora is chosen, thePandora logo will populate on thescreen and the system will displaythe last tuned station whiledisplaying “Acquiring Pandora RadioStation.” Launch times can besignificant.

Using the iPhone

1. Plug the device into the USBport. The phone screen must beunlocked.

2. Launch Pandora directly fromthe Home Page by pressing thePandora icon.

If nothing happens when theavailable Pandora screen button ispressed, download the latestPandora application and retry.

The login screen may display on thedevice.

Using an Android or BlackBerryPhone

The BlackBerry phone must beunlocked to launch Pandora service.

Pandora Features

Pandora service has features to ratetracks, skip tracks, or changestations.

} (Bookmarks): When pressedduring a track, a choice displays tobookmark the artist or track. Thissends the bookmark to the Pandoraaccount.

, (Thumbs Down): Whenpressed, Pandora stores thisinformation, changes to the nexttrack, and does not play this track

on this station again. This helpsPandora choose which tracksshould not play on this station. Thisfeature is only available on usercreated stations.

- (Thumbs Up): When pressed,Pandora stores this information and- is highlighted for the remainder ofthe track. This helps Pandorachoose which tracks should play onthis station.

d (Next Track): When pressed,Pandora changes to the next track.

r or j (Play/Pause): Press to playor pause playback.

Pandora Skip Limit

Pandora limits the number of skipsallowed on their service. When theskip limit is reached, , will not skip

the currently playing track, but the ,feedback will be recorded.



Advertisement on Pandora

Pandora may displayadvertisements. The artist nameand track title will not be displayedand the skip track button will not beavailable.

Pandora Troubleshooting

Unable to Connect Device toVehicle

If the device is unable to connect tothe USB or Bluetooth:

1. Turn the vehicle off.

2. Take the Remote Keyless Entry(RKE) transmitter at least 6 m(20 ft) away from the vehicle.

3. Wait about 30 seconds, and tryto connect the device again. SeeAuxiliary Jack on page 33 orBluetooth (Overview) on page 89or Bluetooth (Voice Recognition)on page 94 or Bluetooth(Infotainment Controls) onpage 90.

Unable to Start Pandora

If the device is unable to launchPandora:. Check that the latest version of

Pandora is installed.. Check that there is an active

account logged into Pandora.. Have at least one station

created.. For Android and BlackBerry

devices, check that the device ispaired with the vehicle, andwhether the device displays inthe Connected phone sourceslist under the Phone icon fromthe Home Page.

. For an iPhone, check that theUSB cable is connected to theUSB port and the screen isunlocked.

. Close Pandora on the deviceand launch again. Devices thatallow multitasking may requirean extra step to quit the Pandoraapplication. See the cell phonemanufacturer's user guide.

Thumbs Up or Thumbs DownError

If there is an error trying to rate atrack with the , or - buttons, themessage “Thumbs Down Error” or“Thumbs Up Error” will display.Press OK to dismiss.

Loss of Audio

Loss of Pandora audio can happenin different ways:. Weak or lost data connection.. Device needs to be charged.. Application needs to be

relaunched.. Connection between phone and

radio lost.



. An iPhone is connected to bothBluetooth and the USB port.

Playback can be resumed froma loss of audio by doubletapping on the iPhone menubutton then scrolling through theicons to find an icon that allowsa change of flow betweenBluetooth and USB cable.

Audio Players

CD PlayerThe player can be used for CD andMP3 audio.

The system is capable of playing:. Most audio CDs. CD-R. CD-RW. MP3 or unprotected WMA

formats

When playing any compatiblerecordable disc, the sound qualitycan be reduced due to disc quality,the method of recording, the qualityof the music that has beenrecorded, or the way the disc hasbeen handled.

There can be increased skipping,difficulty in recording tracks,difficulty in finding tracks, and/ordifficulty in loading and ejecting.



If these problems occur, check thedisc for damage or try a knowngood disc.

To avoid damage to the CD player:. Do not use scratched or

damaged discs.. Do not apply labels to discs. The

labels could get caught in theplayer.

. Insert only one disc at a time.

. Keep the loading slot free offoreign materials, liquids, anddebris.

. Use a marking pen to label thetop of the disc.

Loading and Ejecting Discs

To load a disc:

1. Turn the vehicle on.

2. Insert a disc into the slot, labelside up. The player pulls it in therest of the way. If the disc isdamaged or improperly loaded,there is an error and the discejects.

PressX to eject a disc from theCD player. If the disc is not removedwithin a short period of time, it isautomatically pulled back into theplayer.

Playing an Audio CD

Press the MEDIA screen button untilCD Audio icon Now Playing view isselected.

On the CD main page, a tracknumber displays at the beginning ofeach track. Song, Artist, and Albuminformation displays when available.

Use the following controls to playthe disc:

t (Previous/Fast Reverse):. Press to seek to the beginning of

the current or previous track.If the track has been playing forless than five seconds, it seeksto the previous track. If longerthan five seconds, the currenttrack starts from the beginning.

. Press and hold to fast reversethrough a track. Release thebutton to return to playingspeed. Elapsed time displays.

u (Next/Fast Forward):. Press to seek to the next track.. Press and hold to fast forward

through a track. Release thebutton to return to playingspeed. Elapsed time displays.

When a Blu-ray or DVD disc,if equipped, is loaded and the CDbutton is pressed, a messagedisplays.



Storing Media favorites

To store media favorites, press andhold to display a list of media types.Select from this list.

The lists that may display are:

Genres: Press to store the currentgenre as a favorite. Press a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite genre. The first song of thegenre begins to play.

Artists: Press to store the currentartist as a favorite. Press a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite artist. The first song in theartist list begins to play.

Albums: Press to store the currentalbum as a favorite. Press a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite album. The first song in thealbum list begins to play.

Playlists: Press a screen button inthe favorite area to recall a favoriteplaylist. The first song in the playlistbegins to play.

Songs: Press to store the currentsong as a favorite. Press a screenbutton in the favorite area to recall afavorite song.

Podcasts or Podcast Episode:Press and hold a screen button tostore the current podcast as afavorite. Press a screen button inthe favorite area to recall a favoritepodcast or podcast episode. Thepodcast or podcast episode beginsto play.

Audiobooks: Press and hold ascreen button to save the currentaudiobook as a favorite. Press ascreen button in the favorite area torecall a favorite audiobook.

Videos: Press and hold a screenbutton to store the current video asa favorite. Press a screen button inthe favorite area to recall a favoritevideo.

Error Messages

If Disc Error displays and/or the disccomes out, it could be for one of thefollowing reasons:. The disc has an invalid or

unknown format.. The road is very rough. Try the

disc again when the road issmoother.

. The disc is dirty, scratched, wet,or upside down.

. The air is very humid. Try thedisc again later.

. There was a problem whileburning the disc.

. The label is caught in the CDplayer.

If Disc Player Error displays, it couldbe for one of the following reasons:. The player temperature is

too high.. There are load or eject errors.



If the CD is not playing correctly, forany other reason, try a knowngood CD.

If any error continues, contact yourdealer.

Playing an MP3 CD

To play an MP3 CD, follow the sameinstructions as “Playing anAudio CD.”

The following guidelines must bemet when creating an MP3 disc,otherwise the CD might not play:. Sampling rate: 16 kHz,

22.05 kHz, 24 kHz, 32 kHz,44.1 kHz, and 48 kHz.

. Bit rates supported: 8, 16, 24,32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112,128, 144, 160, 192, 224, 256,and 320 kbps.

. Recorded on a CD-R or CD-RW.

MP3 Music Menu

Press the MENU button while thatsource is active to access the menu.

Press any of the following buttonson the MP3 Menu:

Shuffle: Press to play the tracksrandomly. Press again to stopshuffle.

Auto Volume: If equipped, thisfeature adjusts the volume based onthe speed of the vehicle. SeeAM-FM Radio on page 11.

Tone Settings: Press + or − toadjust Bass, Midrange, Treble,or Surround. See AM-FM Radio onpage 11.

MP3 Folder Information

Press anywhere between the topapplication tray or the bottom menuto display the browse screen.

Root Directory: To access, pressthe screen anywhere between thetop and bottom menu. The rootdirectory is treated as a folder. Allfiles contained directly under theroot directory are accessed prior toany root directory folders.

No Folder: When the CD onlycontains compressed audio fileswithout any folders or playlists, allfiles are under the root folder.

File System and Naming: Thesong titles, artists, albums, andgenres are taken from the file's ID3tag and are only displayed if presentin the tag. If a song title is notpresent in the ID3 tag, the radiodisplays the file name as thetrack name.



USB/SD PortThis vehicle may have two SD portsand four USB ports. One SD portand two USB ports in the centerconsole, one USB port in the centerstack storage area, and if equippedwith Rear Seat Entertainment(RSE), one SD port and one USBport in the center console rearstorage area.

Playing from a USB

A USB mass storage device can beconnected to the USB port.

Audio extensions supported by theUSB are:. MP3. WMA. AAC. OGG. AIFF. 3GPP

Gracenote®

When plugging in a USB device,Gracenote service builds voice tagsfor music. Voice tags allow artists,albums with hard to pronouncenames, and nicknames to be usedto play music through voicerecognition.

While indexing, infotainmentfeatures are available.

My Media Library

The infotainment system allowsaccess to content from all of theconnected devices. Press theMEDIA screen button to scrollthrough the options until My Mediais selected. Use gestures or screenbuttons to scroll through thecontent.

USB MP3 Player and USB Drives

The USB MP3 players and USBdrives connected must comply withthe USB Mass Storage Classspecification (USB MSC).

To play a USB device:

1. Connect the USB.

2. Press MEDIA until theconnected device is shown.

Use the following when playing anactive USB source:

r (Play): Press to play the currentmedia source.

j (Pause): Press to pause play ofthe current media source.

t (Previous/Reverse):. Press to seek to the beginning of

the current or previous track.If the track has been playing forless than five seconds, theprevious track plays. If playinglonger than five seconds, thecurrent track restarts.

1. Press to view the albums onthe USB.

1. Press to display a list of allsongs on the USB.

2. To begin playback, select a songfrom the list.

Genres:

1. Press to view the genres onthe USB.

2. Select a genre to view a list ofartists.

3. Select an artist to view albumsby that artist.

Podcasts, Composers, AudioBooks, Videos, and Folder View areshown when More is selected fromthe bottom of the screen.

Podcasts:

Audiobooks:

1. Press to view the audiobooksstored on the iPod.

Loss of Audio

Do not pair the Bluetooth of aniPhone that is connected and usingthe iPod feature under vehiclemedia sources. If an attempt to pairthe Bluetooth of the sameconnected phone is made, thesystem will automatically mute theiPod audio.

If there is a loss of audio, playbackcan be resumed by changing theaudio flow from Bluetooth to USBcable.

To change the audio flow:

1. While the iPhone is connected,double tap the phone’s homebutton.

2. Swipe a finger to the left on thephone’s screen display. A boxwith a triangle on the lower lineof the box that is highlighteddisplays. Press this box todisplay the dock connectoroption.

3. Select “Dock Connector.”

Other phones such as the Androidphones may have a similar reaction.

Bluetooth Streaming Audio andVoice Recognition

See Bluetooth Audio on page 34 forinformation on using voicerecognition with Bluetooth streamingaudio.

Make sure all devices have thelatest software downloaded.

SD Card ReaderThis vehicle may have two SDports, one in the center console andone in the center console storagearea, if equipped with Rear SeatEntertainment (RSE).

The SD port is for audio and videoplayback. Photos are not supported.Playback from an SD card followsthe same file formats andrestrictions defined under the USBsection.

Set up the SD card while the vehicleis in P (Park). See “Audio” underInfotainment on page 3.

Place the card into the port.

If an SD card has already beenconnected, but a different source iscurrently active, press the MEDIAscreen button to scroll through theaudio source screens until USB/SDcard displays.

Auxiliary JackThis vehicle has an auxiliary inputjack in the center console under thearmrest and in the center stackstorage bin. Possible auxiliary audiosources include:. Laptop computer. Audio music player

This jack is not an audio output. Donot plug headphones into theauxiliary input jack. Set up anauxiliary device while the vehicle isin P (Park).

Connect a 3.5 mm (1/8 in) cablefrom the auxiliary device to theauxiliary input jack. When a device



is connected, the system can playaudio from the device over thevehicle speakers.

If an auxiliary device has alreadybeen connected, but a differentsource is currently active, press theMEDIA screen button to scrollthrough audio source screens, untilAUX source screen displays.

Bluetooth AudioIf equipped, music may be playedfrom a paired Bluetooth device. SeeBluetooth (Overview) on page 89 orBluetooth (Voice Recognition) onpage 94 or Bluetooth (InfotainmentControls) on page 90 for helppairing a device.

The music can be controlled byeither the infotainment controls,or the controls on the device.

Music can be launched by pressingthe MEDIA screen button on theHome Page.

To play music via Bluetooth:

1. Power on the device, and pair toconnect the device.

2. Once paired, go into the audioapplication from the Home Pageor via the application tray. SelectMEDIA until Bluetooth displays.

Bluetooth Audio Menu

Press the MENU screen button todisplay the Bluetooth Audio menu.The following may be available:

Bose AudioPilot: If equipped,press to turn Bose AudioPilot on oroff. AudioPilot is an On/Off selectionon the list entry from the Mainmenu. See AM-FM Radio onpage 11.


Press [ Back to go back to theprevious menu.

Manage Bluetooth Devices: Pressto go to the Bluetooth page to addor delete devices.

When selecting Bluetooth audio, theradio may not be able to launch theaudio player on the connecteddevice to start playing. When thevehicle is not moving, choose thephone to begin playback.

All devices launch audio differently.When selecting Bluetooth audio asa source, the radio may show aspaused on the screen. Press playon the device or press r to beginplayback.

Some phones support sendingBluetooth music information todisplay on the radio. When the radioreceives this information, it willcheck to see if any is available anddisplay it. For more informationabout supported Bluetooth features,see www.gm.com/bluetooth.



Rear SeatInfotainment

Rear Seat Entertainment(RSE) SystemThe vehicle may have an RSEsystem. The RSE system includes aradio with AM/FM/XM, Blu-ray/DVD/CD player (if equipped), USB, SD,Audio/video jacks, wirelessheadphones, and a remote control.

Before Driving

The RSE can only be viewed on thefront screen when the vehicle is inP (Park). The driver cannot safelyview the video screen while driving.

In severe or extreme weatherconditions, the RSE system may notwork until the temperature is withinthe operating range of above−20°C (−4°F) and below55°C (131°F).

System Operation

The video screens are on the backof the driver and front passengerseats.

To use:

1. Push the release button on theseatback console.

2. Move the screen to the viewingposition.

3. Open a screen to turn thesystem on. If the screens areopen with the system off, pressthe power button on the remoteto turn the system on. Thesystem can also be turned onfrom the front infotainmentsystem by pressing the RSEicon on the Home page.

Push the video screen down into itslocked position when it is not in use.The screen turns off automatically.

The audio may continue with thescreens down. This allows listeningto music without the screen on.

Only the top of the left RSEseatback console has eight infraredtransmitter lights for the wirelessheadphones throughout the vehicle.Both seatbacks have an infraredreceiver for the remote control onthe top of each console.

Notice: Avoid directly touchingthe video screen, as damage mayoccur.

Disc Menu BD

CD Menu

The CD Menu contains: Track List,Shuffle, Headphones, Brightness,Player Setup: Audio Compression,Auto Enter (for CD-DA only), TitleSearch (for CD-DA only), DiscInformation (for CD-DA only),Overhead Display, if equipped, andSoftware Information. When a discis ejected only Brightness,Headphone, Overhead Display,if equipped, and SoftwareInformation will be available.

Pop Up Menu (BD only)

Select Pop-up menu from the menuoptions to display the on-screenmenu options on top of the movie.Press the disc-generated option toclose the Pop-up menu and returnto the now playing screen (ifavailable) or make a selection toexit the Pop-up menu. When thePop-Up menu is opened theoverlay/interaction selector menuwill be closed. The Pop-up menu isdisc dependent and may or may nottime out on its own.

Top Menu BD/DVD

Select this item to display the menufor the DVD or BD. Press the Backbutton or a selection to exit the topmenu. Top Menu is not available forBD-AV, DVD-VR, and AVC-REC.

Color (BD only)

Press COLOR to display the fourcolor button options: blue, yellow,red, and green. Highlight a coloroption and press enter and theappropriate action will be carriedout. Press the Exit button or Menubutton, or wait for the 15-secondtime out to close the menu. Pressthe down arrow on the yellow colorto keep the overlay menu up, butclose the color menu. The colormenu is disc dependent; selectingcolors for discs that do not supportthis feature will have no function.



Keypad BD/DVD

Press KEYPAD to display the singledigit entry keypad. To close thekeypad, press the Back or Menubutton, or wait for the menu to timeout, or press the down arrow fromthe Clear, 0, or Done buttons. Themovie will be grayed out in BD andDVD keypads. The keypad is discdependent and selecting numbersfor discs that do not support thisfeature will have no function.

The keypad input is limited to fourdigits. Any digits entered beyondfour will be discarded.

Press the Clear button to clear onedigit at a time. Press and hold theClear button to clear all entereddigits.

Disc Control (BDAV andBDMV only)

Press DISC CONTROL to displayoptions to subtitles, play, pause,track forward, track previous, andstop the disc. Press the Back buttonor Menu button, or wait for the timeout to close the menu. Press thedown arrow from the track previousor track forward to keep the overlaymenu up but close the disc controlmenu. The disc control menu is disc

dependent; selecting controls fordiscs that do not support this featurewill have no function.

Stop Disc (DVD only)

Press Stop to close the overlaymenu and open the Disc Stoppedscreen. Press menu on the screento open the Disc Stopped menu.Select from Resume Playback, TopMenu, Title Search, Top MENU,Restart Disc, Screen Mode,Headphones, Brightness, PlayerSetup, Overhead, if equipped,DivX(R), VOD, and SoftwareInformation. These options are notavailable while the disc is playing.

Resume Playback: Returns to thecurrent position on the disc andresumes play.

Top Menu: Returns to the discprovided menu.

Title Search (BDMV and DVD-Vonly): Displays a list of titles whichcan be selected using the up anddown arrows.



Browse Media (BDAV, DVD-A,DVD-VR only): Allows the media onthe disc to be searched in a listformat.

Restart Disc: Allows the disc to berestart from the beginning.

More BD/DVD

The More submenu includes boththe Settings item and items relatedto still pictures.

PREV STILL/NEXT STILL/STILL OFF

This feature allows for turning Stilloff or advancing to the next stillpicture. NEXT STILL will advance tothe next picture in sequential order.STILL OFF will return to the

designated home still, if it isavailable. Press the Back or Menubutton, or wait for the 15-secondtime out to close the menu. Pressthe down arrow on the bottomoption to close the next still pop-up.This feature is disc dependent.

If nothing is selected from the popup, it will time out and return to theStop Disc selection screen.

This feature can also be accessfrom the Photo button on the DVDDisc Menu.

Settings BD/DVD

This allows access to browse media(BDAV, AVCREC, DVD-A, andDVD-VR only), title search (AVCHD,

DVD-V, BDMV Only), top menu (notavailable in BD-AV), screen mode,subtitles, angle (BDMV, DVD-V,DVD-A only), restart disc, audiotracks, brightness, player setup,Format Internal User Memory (onlyavailable when no disc is inserted),Disc Information, Overhead Display,ifequipped, Headphones, andSoftware Information.

Browse Media

Browse Media allows browsing byVideo List or Playlist.

Title Search (BDMV only)

This allows the titles provided by thedisc to be searched. Select thisoption to bring up a keypad tosearch for specific titles.

Top Menu BD/DVD

Select to display the menu for theDVD or BD.



Screen Mode Setting BD/DVD

Select screen mode Normal, Wide,or Window Zoom by highlightingscreen mode and pressing enter orthe right arrow. Use screen mode toadjust the framing on the RSEdisplay. Screen mode only appliesto video sources and should bemaintained if the disc is ejected.

Disc Subtitle BD/DVD

Select Subtitles from the SettingsMenu by highlighting subtitles andpressing enter or the right arrow.Select a subtitle by highlighting thisoption and pressing enter or theright arrow. Selecting the subtitle willdisplay the updated now playingscreen.

Disc Angle BD/DVD

Select Disc Angle from the SettingsMenu by pressing enter or the rightarrow. Select an angle by using theup and down arrows to highlight theoption and pressing enter or theright arrow.

Restart Disc BD/DV

Select Restart Disc to restart thedisc from the beginning.

Disc Audio Track BD/DVD

Select Audio Track from theSettings Menu by highlighting audiotracks and pressing enter or theright arrow, if this feature issupported by the audio disc.

Brightness Settings

Select brightness from the Settingsmenu by highlighting brightness andpressing the enter button or the rightarrow.

Increase the brightness by using theup or right arrow and decrease thebrightness by using the down or leftarrow. Each screen brightness canbe adjusted separately.

Player Setup BD/DVD

Player Setup may include thefollowing options:. Default Menu Language. Default Audio Language. Default Subtitle Language. Default Pseudo Resume. Auto Enter. Audio Channel (DBAV, Avcrec

only) contains: Stereo, LeftMono and Right Mono. Defaultwill be determined by the disc.

Not all discs support this feature.



Format Internal User Memory

To format internal user memory,select Format Internal User Memoryfrom the Settings Menu, then selectOK. A message displays and theactivity indicator displays.A message displays when theformat is complete.

Errors

Errors can occur if the local storagearea has been broken or if theignition is turned off duringformatting. If the screen is closedduring formatting this will notinterrupt the formatting, if screen isopened again current state of formatwill be displayed. If an error occurs,the Error screen will display whenthe ignition is turned on.

Track List CD

Displays a list of all tracks on theCD. The current track playing will beshown. Select from this menu usingthe navigational keys and the enterbutton.

Shuffle CD

When on, the tracks on the CD willplay in random order. This featurecan be turned on and off.

To turn this feature on and off,highlight Shuffle on the menu andpress Enter or the right arrow. Thecurrent state will display.

Wired Headphones

To select the headphone audio forthe wired headphone jack based onscreen 1 or screen 2, press Enter orthe right arrow on the headphones.Exit the menu after the selectionis made.

The headphones are linked toscreen 1 by default.

Player Setup (CD-DA only)

Allows access to the AudioCompression and Auto Enter.

Title Search (CD-DA only)

Displays a list of titles to select fromby using the up and down arrows.

Disc Information (CD-DA only)

If the inserted disc is a BDMV,BDAV, AVCHD, AVCREC,DVD-Video, or DVD-VR the disc titleshould display. If the inserted disc isDVD-AUdio, DTS-CD, CDDA,or Mixed-CD the track number willdisplay.

DivX(R)

Indicates the vehicle is registered toplay DivX(R) media and how toobtain more information.

Overhead Display

On vehicles with a third overheaddisplay option, this allows theoverhead display to be alwaysshowing what is on screen 1 or 2.

Software Information

This allows access to Versioninformation, Save Vehicle Info toUSB, and view Open Source.

Save Vehicle Info to USB allows thecurrent version to be saved to ajump drive, which must be donebefore an update can be performed.



Open source software provideswhere software information can befound.

RSE Controls Available fromthe Front Screen

To access the RSE application,select Video from the HOMEscreen. The Video app may also beselected from the application tray ifit has been stored in one of the fivelocations.

Sourcing to DVD/BD

After a disc is inserted, it willautomatically begin playing on bothrear screens. If no video disc isinserted or if the disc is ejectedwhile it is sourced to DVD/BD, thescreen will display “No Video DiscInserted.”

With the vehicle in P (Park), thefollowing icons will appear along thebottom of the front screen when aDVD, VCD, USB, or SD is inserted:

Rear Media

REAR MEDIA will allow transitioningbetween AUX, Disc, USB, and SDsources for the rear screens.Sources selected using the REARMEDIA button will be automatically

sourced for both rear screens andbegin playback from the firstavailable file.

The video will only appear on thefront screen with the vehicle inP (Park). When the vehicle is in anyother gear, the front screen displaysthe active media source.

DVD/BD Disc Menu

With the vehicle in P (Park), pressto access the DVD/BD disc menu.

Next Track/Previous Track

Useu to skip ahead, ort to skip

back between chapters. Presstless than five seconds into thecurrent track to start at thebeginning of the previous track.Presst more than five secondsinto the current track to start at thebeginning of the current track.



Fast Forward/Fast Rewind

With the vehicle in P (Park), hold uort for approximately one andone-half seconds to fast forward orfast rewind at a rate of eight timesnormal playback. Ifu ort areheld for approximately six seconds,the rate of fast forward or fastrewind will increase.

Play/Pause

Press r to play orj pause,depending on the current selection.

Keypad for DVD/VCD/SD/USB

With the vehicle in P (Park), pressto display the DVD Keypad. DVDkeypad functionality is discdependent and may not be availableon all DVDs. Up to four digits canbe entered. Press CLEAR to clearall digits in the entry field.

Pop Up Menu (BD Only)

This displays the pop up menucontents for the BD. Make aselection or use the interactionselector to exit pop up menu view.

Exit Video

When available, this feature is usedto exit the Now Playing screen.

Cursor

The cursor is used to navigate andselect items in the disc menu. Pressthe up, down, right, or left arrows,or the enter button. The cursor willdisplay horizontally across the top ofthe screen. A second press willchange the display to a verticalmenu of cursor buttons. The cursorwill time out and close.

Sourcing USB/SD/VCD/AUX withVideo

With the vehicle in P (Park), thefollowing icons will be available:

VCD in P (Park).. DISC MENU is only available for

disc sources such as VCD. Thesystem displays the menuprovided by the disc.

With the vehicle in D (Drive), thefollowing icons display along thebottom of the front screen when oneof these sources is active:

AUX: Only REAR MEDIA andMENU are availble.

Rear Media

Use REAR MEDIA to select AUX,Disc, USB, or SD sources for therear seat entertainment. When usingthe REAR MEDIA button to select asource, both rear screens will besourced and begin playback of thefirst available file. The video willonly display on the front screen ifthe vehicle is in P (Park). When the

vehicle is in any other gear, the frontscreen displays the active mediasource.

Previous Track/Next Track

Presst oru to select theprevious or next track on the currentmedia.

Play/Pause

Press r to play orj to pause,depending on the current selection.A time bar displays when the pausebutton is pressed.

Menu (DVD/BD/SD/USB/AUX/VCD)

MENU is only available in D (Drive).Press the MENU button to displaythese menu options:. Tone Settings. Auto Volume Control. Traffic Announcements

Tone Settings (DVD/BD)

Tone settings for bass, mid, andtreble are available in any sourcemode. Once set, tone settings areset for all sources.

Auto Volume Control (DVD/BD)

Automatic volume control (AVC)adjusts the volume of the audiobased on the speed or ambientnoise of the vehicle. Some vehiclesmay be equipped with the BoseAudioPilot system. In these cases,the Auto Volume main menu item isreplaced with the Bose AudioPilotmenu item. AVC or Bose AudioPilotis available to use with anysource mode.

Traffic Program Alerts (DVD/BD)

Traffic alerts will display in the RSEsystem. The video will continue toplay and the audio will mute,depending on the alert.



Closing the Menu (DVD/BD)

Press the Exit button to close amenu. This will return to the RSEapplication on the previously viewedscreen.

Power

Press the power button on thescreen to turn the rear RSE screenson or off. The front screen willcontinue to operate when the rearscreens are turned off. The rearscreens can be turned back on fromthe rear seat by using the remote,select screen 1 or 2 and press thepower button.

RSE includes two 2-channelwireless headphones. Theheadphones are used to listen tovarious multi-media. The wirelessheadphones have a power button,Channel 1 or 2 switch, and avolume control.

Push the power button to turn onthe headphones. A light on theheadphones comes on. If the lightdoes not come on, check thebatteries. Intermittent sound or staticcan also indicate weak batteries.See “Battery Replacement” later inthis section.

Turn the headphones off when notin use.

Press the center of the right side ofthe headphone to change thechannel. Channel 1 will provideaudio associated with screen 1 andchannel 2 will provide audioassociated with screen 2.. Screen 1 is behind the driver/left

seatback.. Screen 2 is behind the

passenger/right seatback.

Infrared transmitters are on the topof the left seatback video screen.The headphones shut offautomatically to save the batterypower if the RSE system is off or ifthe headphones are out of range of



the transmitters for more thanthree minutes. Moving too farforward or stepping out of thevehicle can cause the headphonesto lose the signal or have static.

Use the volume control on theheadphones to adjust the volume.

For best audio performance, wearthe headphones as indicated withL (Left) and R (Right) on the earpads. Do not let anything cover theear pads.

Notice: Do not store theheadphones in heat or directsunlight. This could damage theheadphones and repairs will notbe covered by the warranty.Storage in extreme cold canweaken the batteries. Keep theheadphones stored in a cool, dryplace.

If the foam ear pads become wornor damaged, the pads can bereplaced separately. To purchasereplacement ear pads, call1-888-293-3332 or contact yourdealer.

Battery Replacement

To change the batteries:

1. Loosen the screw to the batterydoor on the left side of theheadphones.

2. Slide the battery door open.

3. Replace the two AAA batteries.

4. Replace the battery door andtighten the screw.

Remove the batteries if theheadphones will not be used for along time.

Auxiliary Inputs

The A/V jacks allow audio or videocables to be connected from anauxiliary device such as acamcorder or video game system.

The A/V jacks are color coded:. Yellow for video input.. White for left audio input.. Red for right audio input.

Power for auxiliary devices is notsupplied by the infotainment system.

To use the auxiliary inputs of theRSE system:

1. Connect the auxiliary devicecables to the A/V jacks.

2. Power on both the auxiliarydevice and the RSE videoscreen.

USB/SD

This allows for video and audioplayback of supported media.

To use the USB and SD:

1. Insert the device in theappropriate slot.

2. Select the source via the rearscreen menu with the remotecontrol MEDIA button.

3. Select the source via the front bypressing on the “Video”application on the home screen.

Audio Output

Audio from a Blu-ray/DVD/CDplayer or auxiliary inputs can beheard through:. Wireless headphones.. Vehicle speakers.. Vehicle wired headphone jack.

The RSE system transmits theaudio signal to the wirelessheadphones if an audio signal isavailable. See “Headphones” earlierin this section.

Wired Headphone Jack

Audio from the wired headphonejack can be heard from the desiredsource through the MENU button onthe remote and by selectingSettings, then “Headphone.” Theheadphone audio is selected basedon the audio associated withscreen 1 or screen 2.

The front seat passengers are ableto listen to playback from the A/Vjacks through the vehicle speakersby selecting Rear A/V as the sourceon the radio.

To use the remote control, aim it atthe transmitter window at eitherseatback console and press thebuttons firmly. Direct sunlight or verybright light could affect the ability ofthe RSE transmitter to receivesignals from the remote control.Check the batteries if the remotecontrol does not seem to beworking. See “Battery Replacement”later in this section. Objectsblocking the line of sight could alsoaffect the function of the remotecontrol.

If a CD, Blu-ray/DVD, or MP3 disc isin the CD slot, the remote control Obutton can be used to turn on thevideo screen display and start thedisc. The infotainment system canalso turn on the video screendisplay.



Notice: Storing the remotecontrol in a hot area or in directsunlight can damage it, and therepairs will not be covered by thewarranty. Storage in extreme coldcan weaken the batteries. Keepthe remote control stored in acool, dry place.

Battery Replacement

To change the remote controlbatteries:

1. Insert a coin or key to pull up therear cover on the remote control.

2. Replace the two AAA batteriesin the compartment.

3. Replace the battery cover.

Remove the batteries from theremote control if it will not be usedfor an extended period of time.

RSE Troubleshooting

No power: The ignition might notbe in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY.

The picture does not fill thescreen. There are black borderson the top and bottom or on bothsides or it looks stretched out:Press the menu button on theremote control to change the displaymode setting.

In auxiliary mode, the picturemoves or scrolls: Check theauxiliary input connections at bothdevices.

The remote control does notwork: Check to make sure there isno obstruction between the remotecontrol and the transmitter window.Check the batteries to make surethey are not dead or installedincorrectly.

There is no sound from theheadphones with the indicatorlight on: If the batteries are good,make sure the headphones are onthe correct channel for the screenbeing viewed.

The auxiliary source is runningbut there is no picture or sound:Check that the RSE video screen isin the auxiliary source mode bypressing the MEDIA button on theremote control. Check the auxiliaryinput connections at both devices.

Sometimes the wirelessheadphone audio cuts out orbuzzes: Check for obstructions,low batteries, reception range, andinterference from cell phone towersor from cellular telephone use in thevehicle. Check that the headphonesare on correctly using the L (Left)and R (Right) on the headphones.Check that the headphones arepositioned properly with theheadband across the top ofthe head.



I lost the remote and/or theheadphones: See your dealer forassistance.

The Blu-ray/DVD is playing, butthere is no picture or sound:Check that the RSE video screen issourced to the Blu-ray/DVD playerby pressing the MEDIA button onthe remote control.

Video Display Error Messages

The video screen may display oneof the following:

Disc Error: There are disc load oreject problems, the disc is insertedwith the disc label wrong side up,the disc is damaged, or the disc isnot from the correct region.

No Disc Inserted: No disc ispresent.

Disc Player Error: Thetemperature is outside the operatingrange of the RSE system. If thetemperature is within range, seeyour dealer.

Video Distortion

Video distortion can occur whenoperating cellular phones, scanners,CB radios, Global PositioningSystems (GPSs)*, two-way radios,mobile faxes, or walkie talkies.

It might be necessary to turn off thevideo player when operating one ofthese devices in or near the vehicle.

*Excludes the OnStar System.

Navigation

Using the NavigationSystem

Press the NAV button on the HomePage or the NAV icon in theapplication tray to access thenavigation application.

Press MENU from the map view toaccess the Navigation Menu.Features displayed in theNavigation Menu can be selected toadjust navigation preferences.



It is advised to set up preferencesbefore setting a destination. To set adestination, see Destination onpage 63.

Additional navigation features are:. End/Resume Route. Navigation Voice Preferences. Current Location. Display “Places of Interest”

Icons. Map View. Routing Preferences. Traffic. Personal Data

Resume Route. Press the Resume Route screen

button to resume route guidanceto the last entered destination.

. While under route guidance, thisscreen button displays EndRoute. Press End Route to endroute guidance. No furtherprompts will be given. The listitem then changes to ResumeRoute.

. The last location that the systemhas provided guidance to can beresumed by pressing on thislist item.

. If the route includes waypoints,the entire route can besuspended using the EndGuidance list item. WhenResume Guidance is pressed,all waypoints are resumed forguidance.

Navigation Voice Preferences

Press the Navigation VoicePreferences list item to adjust thevoice preferences.

The following options can beadjusted:. Voice Prompts ON/OFF. Voice Volume. Prompts During Phone Calls

ON/OFF

Voice Prompts

Press the Voice Prompts list item totoggle voice prompts ON and OFF.

Voice Volume

Adjust the loudness of the audiofeedback by pressing the − or +button. If a maneuver prompt isbeing played, and the main volumeis adjusted, the prompt volume willupdate and be saved.



As the volume of the voice guidanceis being adjusted, a quick status bardisplays, showing the volumesetting.

Prompts During Phone Calls

When enabled, the system plays ashorter prompt while on a phonecall. This setting can be configuredas to whether a prompt would beheard during a phone conversation.

When this setting is OFF, only theshort alert tone is played whenapproaching the maneuver.

Current Location

Press the Current Location list itemto display a Current Location list.

The following information isdisplayed on the CurrentLocation list:. Nearest Address. Lat/Long. Nearest Hospital. Nearest Police Station. Nearest Gas Station. Nearest Roadside Assistance

Pressing on any of the options willdisplay the destination details viewfor that location to allow you tobegin guidance to the selectedlocation.

Press the Nearest Address buttonand then the Save screen button tostore the current location to theAddress Book.

Display Places of Interest Icons

Places of Interest (POI) icons canbe displayed on the map usingthis view.

. The POI icons can be turned ONand OFF. Press the check boxnext to the POI icon to displaythe icon.

. Press Clear All to reset the iconsthat are displayed on the map.



. A subcategory can be selectedinstead of the entire category.Press the list item itself ratherthan the check box. Thesubcategories will display. Selectany of those categories tonavigate down the hierarchy.

. When a higher-level categoryhas some of its subcategoriesselected, the checkmark next toit is grayed out. This indicatesthat only some of the categoriesbelow are shown. Press thegrayed-out checkmark to turn allof the icons for that category onor off.

Map View

Press to select the desired mapview. A checkmark appears toindicate a view has been selected.

3D View

The 3D View is a Heading Up viewbut it includes perspective. Mapitems will appear larger as thevehicle comes closer.

Heading Up View

The Heading Up View keeps thevehicle's current heading at the topof the view. The vehicle icon alwaysfaces the top of the view as the maprotates.

North Up View

The North Up View keeps north atthe top of the view. The vehicle iconis placed in the center of the viewand rotates to indicate the headingfor the vehicle.

Audio Information On/Off

Press to turn the audio informationview on or off from the main mapview. When ON, the audioinformation becomes an audiostatus pane. This allows for twolines of audio information in thestatus pane and enables the use ofsome Interaction Selector controls.

The audio status screen containsthe following elements:. Station Frequency. Artist Information. Song Information

Press thet /u Station controls togo to the next or previous strongsignal station or digital channel.

When the audio status panedisplays Artist and SongInformation, press the t /u



controls to go to the next orprevious track based on the currentmedia mode.

Day/Night Mode

Press to access the Day/NightMode menu.

The options are:. Day Mode: Brightens the map

background.. Night Mode: Darkens the map

background.. Automatic: Adjusts the screen

background automaticallydepending on the exteriorlighting conditions.

Routing Preferences

Press the Routing Preferences listitem to access the RoutingPreferences menu. Options on howthe routes are created for routeguidance are listed on this menu.

Route Style

Press this list item to change theroute type preferences.

The options are:. Fast (default). Eco Friendly (if equipped). Short. Configure Eco Profile

The Configure Eco Profile can beused to configure two parametersfor the Eco Friendly route. Theseparameters are roof load and trailer.For each parameter, the options areNone, Small, Medium, and Large.Press to scroll through the list. Thedefault for both is None.

These preferences are used for allroutes generated.

Route segment preferences areother options showing on theRouting Preferences menu.

This includes:. Use Toll Roads ON/OFF. Use Freeways ON/OFF. Use Carpool Lanes ON/OFF. Avoid Slow Traffic ON/OFF. Use Tunnels ON/OFF. Use Time Restricted Roads

ON/OFF



Traffic (If Equipped)

Press to browse the traffic in thearea as well as adjust the trafficsettings. Where traffic information isavailable, it is displayed on the map.

Where live traffic flow data isavailable, it is displayed as a solidline adjacent to the road. The roadis displayed in colors to show theflow rate as:. Black – Stopped or Closed. Red – Poor. Yellow – Slow. Green – Normal

There are several options on theTraffic menu:. Show Nearby Traffic Incidents. Show Flow On Map ON/OFF. Show Icons On Map ON/OFF. Traffic Routing Preferences. Traffic Types

1. Press Show Nearby TrafficIncidents to access the TrafficList menu. This menu displaysthe incident symbol and highwayname, along with the distanceand heading to the incident.

2. Press on the incident to displayadditional details about theincident as well as an option toavoid that particular incident if itis along the current route.

Traffic Routing Preferences

The system can be configured as tohow it reacts when receiving trafficinformation. Press Traffic RoutingPreferences to access the TrafficRouting menu.



When this setting is OFF, thesystem will never take trafficconditions into account whencreating routes. In addition, the twooptions below are grayed out. If oneof the grayed-out options ispressed, it automatically turns thetraffic avoidance feature ON andperforms the desired selection.

The two options, Ask Me BeforeAvoiding and Automatically AvoidTraffic will adjust the system asfollows:. If the Automatically Avoid Traffic

list item is pressed, the systemwill automatically adjust theroute based on traffic withoutnotifying the driver.

. If the Ask Me Before Avoidinglist item is pressed, the systemwill always use Alerts to showwhen there is an incident andallow it to be avoided bypressing the avoid button.

If the Traffic list item is pressed fromthe Map Menu and Traffic is notavailable because the SiriusXMsubscription is not valid, a pop-upwill display with information on howto reactivate the subscription alongwith the SiriusXM radio ID.

Traffic Types

Press to access the TrafficTypes menu.

The system can be configured tofilter out certain types of trafficevents. If a particular type has beenturned off, the system does notdisplay it on the map, and does notalert the driver.

Personal Data

Data that the system has savedduring the course of using thenavigation system can be managedthrough:. Address Book Entries. Recent Destinations. My POIs (if equipped)



Address Book Entries

Press Address Book to edit.

Recent Destinations. Press Delete Individual

Destinations to display a recentdestinations list. Select theindividual entry to delete.

. Press Delete All Destinations todelete the entire recentdestination list. A pop-updisplays asking to confirm thedeletion.

My POIs. Press My POIs to display a

menu of other options.. Select Delete Individual

Categories. A My POIs categorylist displays.

. Select the individual entry todelete.

. Press Delete All My POIs todelete the entire list ofcategories. A pop-up displaysasking to confirm the deletion.

. To exit out of a list, press theEXIT screen button in the topright corner of the map to returnto the main map view.

Map Adjustments

ZOOM −/+ can be used to adjustthe scale of view on the map. Whenthe end of the zoom level isreached, ZOOM −/+ will gray out.

Use the pinch/spread hand gestureto zoom the scale of view onthe map.. ZOOM − (minus): Pinch fingers

together to zoom out.. ZOOM + (plus): Spread fingers

apart to zoom in.

The zoom scales can be configuredfor English or metric units. Tochange from English to metric, see“Instrument Cluster” in the ownermanual.

Scroll Features

. To scroll within the map, pressanywhere on the map screen.

. Nudge or slide a finger on themap; the map moves in thedirection of the finger.

. Fling a finger on the map; themap will start scrolling in a shortcontinuous scroll.

. Press a finger on the location onthe map; the map recenters tothe location that waspressed on.



. Press a finger twice on alocation on the map, the mapzooms in one level to thelocation that was pressedtwice on.

. When the map is recenteredaway from being locked to thevehicle position, the crosshairswill show in the center of themap. As the map continues tobe recentered, the crosshairswill remain on the screen. Whenthe crosshairs are shown on thescreen, a callout with moreinformation displays. If the mapis moved from the currentlocation, the crosshairs willdisappear along with the callout.

. Press a finger on the callout nextto the crosshairs and thedestination details view displays.From this view, route guidancecan be received or saved to thevehicle's contact list.

. When the map is recentered, thestraight-line distance from thevehicle to the selected point isdisplayed in the callout. Inaddition, a heading direction inthe form of an arrow is displayedto indicate the direction. Thearrow is shown in relation to thecurrent vehicle heading.

. Press a finger on a POI iconshown on the map; the name ofthe POI is shown in the addresscallout, along with the city nameand state. If the callout isselected, the destination detailsview for the POI shown.

. After panning the map awayfrom the vehicle, press RESETto return the map back to thecurrent position.

. Press the Overview button toquickly get a view of the entireroute. The route Overview buttontakes the place of the RESETbutton while under routeguidance. Press the RESETbutton to return the map to thecurrent position.



MapsThe map database is stored in theinternal flash memory that is used inthe navigation system.

Detailed Areas

Road network attributes arecontained in the map database fordetailed areas. Attributes includeinformation such as street names,street addresses, and turnrestrictions. A detailed area includesall major highways, service roads,and residential roads. The detailedareas include Places of Interest(POIs) such as restaurants, airports,banks, hospitals, police stations,gas stations, tourist attractions, andhistorical monuments. The mapdatabase may not include data fornewly constructed areas or mapdatabase corrections that arecompleted after production. Thenavigation system provides fullroute guidance in the detailed mapareas.

Navigation SymbolsFollowing are the most commonsymbols that appear on a mapscreen.

The vehicle symbol indicates thecurrent position and headingdirection of the vehicle on the map.When under route guidance, a circlewith an arrow is added to thevehicle symbol which indicates thedirection to the destination.

The destination symbol marks thefinal destination after a route hasbeen planned.

The waypoint symbol marks one ormore set waypoints.

A waypoint is a stopover destinationpoint added to the planned route.



The estimated time to thedestination displays. Press theArrival button to toggle to durationand to the distance of thedestination.

This symbol indicates therecommended maneuver thatshould be performed. Press it todisplay the turn list or waypoint list.

The No GPS symbol appears whenthere is no Global PositioningSystem (GPS) satellite signal. Whenthe GPS is gone, the vehicleposition on the map may not beaccurate.

Autozoom

As a maneuver is beingapproached, the map automaticallyzooms in to give greater detail.

If lane guidance is available for themaneuver, this is also shown.

When the system begins toautozoom, it zooms in to itsminimum level. After the maneuveris performed, the system slowlyzooms back out.

Driving on a Route

Maneuver Road Name

If the road name has multiplenames, all names are shown.

Active Map View

Timed-Out Map View



If the road that the system hascalculated for the next maneuverhas an icon, it will be shown to theleft of the maneuver road name.

The distance to the maneuver isshown from the current locationalong the route to the maneuver.

Off-Road Indication

When driving in an area with noroad showing on the map, thesystem transitions to off-road mode.The map displays a destinationpointer in the Turn List area. Thesystem will attempt to guide byshowing a highlighted route startingat the nearest road. This road nameis shown in the next maneuvername field at the top of the screen.

Navigation Next Turn ManeuverAlert

The navigation system may need toget the attention of the driver incertain situations.

If not in the navigation applicationwhen a near maneuver prompt isgiven, it is shown as an alert. Thealert contains the turn indicator andbutton to display the mainnavigation view, or dismiss the alert.

The alert also contains the name ofthe street to turn on and acountdown bar.

Destination

If route guidance is not active, pressthe NAV screen button on the HomePage to access the map view. Pressthe Destination icon from the mapview to enter a destination.Available methods of entering adestination are Voice Recognition,Address, Recent Destination,Contacts, and POIs. Several optionscan be selected to plan a route.Some destination items may begrayed out if no destination waspreviously entered or saved.



Another way to enter a destinationis to connect to the OnStar® systemand ask an OnStar Advisor todownload a destination into theembedded navigation system. SeeOnStar® System on page 75.

Press the DESTINATION button togo to the destination entry views.

Available Methods of Search. Voice Recognition. Address. Recent Destinations. Contacts. POIs (Points of Interest)

Press the DESTINATION button andthe last used destination view isshown. This mode is retained. Theinitial default is Address.

Alpha-Numeric Keyboard

The keyboard is used in multiplelocations throughout the system andcan be used with many features.The navigation system uses thealpha-numeric system’s keyboardwhich includes 1 through 0, Athrough Z in QWERTY layout,hyphen, comma, period, Space, andSym which would show additionalcharacters needed.

The keyboard can also be modifiedto include characters appropriate forthe region configured in the vehiclesettings.

@ GO: Press to search for thedestination details of an address orplace of interest entered in the textfield. Once the GO screen button ispressed, the activity indicatordisplays in the list of possiblematches.

| (Dropdown Arrow): Press todisplay a list of matches.

When there are multiple matches, adropdown arrow is shown after theautocomplete text. This dropdowndisplays an entire list of matches.Press the appropriate match withouthaving to enter more text.

z (Delete): Press to delete the lasttyped character. Press and hold thisscreen button to clear the entire textfield. If the entire text field has beendeleted, this screen button becomesan Undo button. Pressing Undo willrestore the deleted text.



Exit: Press to return to theprevious Map view.

Sym: Press to show the symbolkeyboard.

Space: Press to enter a spacebetween characters or the words ofa name.

Q (Up Arrow): Press to display theInteraction Selector.

Special Characters

As the characters are typed on thekeyboard, a pop-up of the letterpressed displays above the key thatwas pressed.

Continue to press and hold, and anyadditional special charactersassociated with that letter aredisplayed around the current letter.To select one of the specialcharacters, slide a finger left or rightto adjust the highlight of the specialcharacter.

Special Character List

The following characters havespecial characters beneath them:

Address. A destination can be searched

by typing out the address,intersection, highway, or freewayentrance ramps on thekeyboard. This information istyped and displayed in theinformation field. Press thesearch icon to start the search.

For example:

Address: 100 Main CenterCrawford, State/Province(if needed)

Road Name: Main Rd

Intersection: North SquareWest Road Standish State/Province

Freeway: N-94. State information does not have

to be included in the search fieldif entering an address that islocated in the same state.

. Whenever the keyboard view isentered, the last text that wastyped, even if it was notsearched on, will display.



. A partial or complete addresscan be typed in the search field.If a partial address is typed, thesystem attempts to use localknowledge to fill in additionalinformation. For example, if nocity name or state are given, thesystem assumes a search forsomething in the current city or anearby city in the current state.The system is also capable ofrecognizing address formatsaccording to other regions.

If a destination address or locationbeing entered is outside of thecountry, the country abbreviationmust be added after the address.For example, if the current vehiclelocation is in Detroit MI and thedestination is in Windsor, the correctinput would be Windsor ON CAN.

Intersection: If looking for anintersection, type in the two streetnames and optionally the city andstate/province of the intersection.

On-Ramp: If looking for the closeston-ramp as a destination, enter ahighway name. The direction is notrequired but can be specified. Thesystem will search for the closeston-ramp.

Also available is the Exit-Ramp. Forexample, N-94 Exit 42.

The keyboard can utilize anautocomplete function. Dependingon the application, autocompletematches entries that have beenpreviously typed or are stored in aRecent Destinations list.

1. After a character has beentyped, the system is able to startdisplaying matches that beginwith that character. The matchescontinually become more refinedas additional characters areentered.

2. If there are multiple matches forwhat has been entered, the firstresult alphabetically will beshown.

When there are multiplematches, a dropdown arrow isshown after the autocompletetext. This dropdown displays theentire list of matches. Press theappropriate match withouthaving to enter more text.



3. If autocomplete does not showthe results needed, press thedelete screen button to clear theautocomplete from the enteredfield.

If there are no matches, apop-up displays in response toshow how the systemunderstood the entered text andattempts to show how the textcould be entered to help find thedestination.

Multiple Matches

. If the search results in multiplematches, a list of matches isshown.

. Address search results aregrouped by result type, in theorder of Full Addresses, States,Cities, Intersections, andStreets. If no results are found ina particular group, that group isnot shown. If only one type ofresult is found, the single typeresult screen is shown. Withineach group, they are listed inConfidence order. This meansthat the closest match result willbe at the top.

. Address searches can be sortedby Confidence, Distance,or Alphabetical Order.

Spelling Mistakes

The system is able to offeralternatives if the searched term isnot found exactly. The system usesthe closest term it finds andprovides those results.

The system first searches theentered term exactly. If no matchesare found, partial words are used.An example is, when entering in anaddress, the system attempts to do

a full match on the entire string. If itdoes not find a match, the housenumber is then considered anoptional term and the systemattempts to find the street and cityname. The prefix and suffix of streetnames are also treated as optionalterms. The search is first done bytrying to match the prefix and/orsuffix. If there is no match found,these terms are removed from thesearch to make the search moregeneric.

Places of Interest (POI)



While at the Home Page, press theNav screen button to display a viewof the map. Press the Destinationscreen button to go to thedestination entry views.

1. Press the POIs screen button todisplay a list of POI categories.

The first list item in every POIlist is a search function. For thehighest level of categories, pressthe Search All screen button orselect a category and searchwithin that selection.

2. Select a POI category to displaysubcategories.

3. If a selected subcategory has noresults in the surrounding area,the search is expanded until aresult is found.

4. When a category is selected, thenearest locations are shown onthe map and it lists the nearest20 matches. If the limit isreached and no further matchesdisplay, there is a Show NextResults button to expand thesearch by another 10 results.The currently selected categoryor search term is shown in thetitle bar along with the number ofmatches shown in the list inparentheses.

5. Pan the map using the fingergestures to minimize the POI listand to interact with the map. Theicons that were shown beforecontinue to be displayed andupdated. The list is also updatedbased on where the map waspanned or zoomed. The searchfor POIs is constrained to wherethe map has been moved to.Press the list reveal buttonwhich is the arrow pointing right,near the left edge of the screento display the list again.

6. If the search map is pressed torecenter, the crosshairs areshown to indicate the center ofthe new search location. If a POIicon is pressed on while in thefull expanded map, a callout forthat location displays. Press thecallout to display the destinationdetails view.



7. Press the map reset button toreturn the map to automaticzooming and searching. It isrecentered around the vehicle’sposition, the route, thedestination, or another locationthat was specified for thesearch. The map RESET buttonis only displayed if the map wasmanually adjusted.

Press the List All screen button todisplay all of the matching results ina particular category with itssubcategories.

Using the Keyboard

The POI can be searched byentering a POI name, category,name and category, or phonenumber on the keyboard.

For example, enter theinformation as:

POI Name: Worldwide Food

POI Category: Restaurants

POI Name and Category:Worldwide Food Restaurants

POI Phone Number: 000222555

The POI keyboard search resultswill display in the order in whichthey were found. Press the Sort

button to change the sorting orderby Confidence, Alphabetical,or Distance.

If browsing for POIs or searching forresults on a keyboard in a differentlocation than what was searchedpreviously, press the Search Nearbutton to specify a different location.

If not under route guidance, thesearch area options are:. Nearby (default). Another Location



If under route guidance, the searcharea options are:. Along Route (default). Nearby. Near My Destination. Another Location

Favorite POIs

Locations, categories, or a particularPOI chain ID can be saved asFavorites in the POIs view.

Press and hold on a favoritelocation, then press on the categoryto be saved. Whenever a set ofPOIs is grouped, as in a category ora set of POIs that all belong to thesame chain ID, the whole category

or chain ID is saved in the favoritesfor recall. POIs are only grouped bychain when the sorting order isAlphabetical.

A POI search can also be saved asa Favorite. While in the POI searchkeyboard view, press and hold on afavorite location and the text that iscurrently typed in the keyboard willbe saved.

Recalling a POI Category orChain

If a POI category or chain favorite isrecalled, the system displays a listof matching results defaulting tonearby, but allows a search of otherlocations. Press the Search Nearbutton to specify a different location.

Saved Destinations

Select a saved destination from theContacts or Recent Destinations.

Contacts

Select the Contacts button to viewthe vehicle’s contact list or aconnected Bluetooth device. Pressthe Change Contacts List screenbutton to switch between thevehicle’s contact list and theBluethooth device’s contact list. If aparticular contact has a singleaddress associated with it, thatcontact has a Quick Route list itemfunction button next to it. Contactswithout this Quick Route buttoneither have multiple addresses or noaddress at all. Press the QuickRoute button to go to theDestination Details view.



Press on an address, either fromthe Quick Route on the contact listor a specific address from thecontact detail list, to go to thedestination view showing thataddress on the map.

Trips from Contacts can be savedand recalled. The order is based onwhen the trip was last used. Whenthe trips are saved, they are given adefault title of the final destinationname. If there are no saved trips,this list item is hidden.

Favorite Destinations. Destinations can be saved as

Favorites for recall later.Depending on the favorite, when

an address or POI favorite isrecalled, the Destination DetailsView is shown.

. When a favorite address is beingrouted to, it is shown active.Press on the active favorite, tosuspend that route.

. Save locations as Favorites forrecall later in the DestinationDetails View.

. Save trips from theAddress Book.

Storing Favorites from the ContactDetails List

A contact name or any of thecontact’s information such as phonenumber, e-mail address, or addressfrom Contact Details can be storedas a Favorite.. Press and hold on the favorite

location while viewing a contacton the Contact Details List. Thecontact name and all contactinformation can be stored.

. Press to save as a favorite. Thefavorite label will be the name ofthe contact.

. Press on the Favorite to displaythe destination view.

Storing Favorites from Map

Favorite locations can be storedfrom the Map View.

If not under route guidance, thecurrent vehicle location will besaved as a Favorite. If under routeguidance, the final destination willbe saved.



Route Guidance

. Press GO to go to the mainnavigation view and to startroute guidance.

. If the system has an activeroute, a pop-up will display,“What would you like to do withthis destination?” The optionsare: Add As Waypoint, Set NewDestination, or Cancel.

. If a waypoint is added, it isplaced in the location that leadsto the most efficient route.

. There is a maximum number ofwaypoints that can be added tothe system. When the maximumnumber has been reached, apop-up displays indicating that awaypoint must be deleted beforea new one can be added. Evenafter a waypoint has beendeleted, it will be added to therecent destinations list for easyrecall.

Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)and Distance

. When under route guidance, thesystem shows the ETA or traveltime, or the driving distance.

. The ETA and travel time arecalculated using any availabletraffic information.

. If in a waypoint trip, the ETA,travel time, and driving distanceare all shown relative to the finaldestination.

. The final ETA is shown takinginto consideration any time zonecrossings that the route hastraveled through.

. Press the ETA information areato switch between the estimatedarrival time, total driving timeresulting, and driving distance.



Turn List

Press on the next turn indicatorshown on the map to display theturn list or waypoint list. TheInteraction Selector is minimizedautomatically. Press Q to reveal thefollowing options:

Destination

Press the Destination screen buttonto add a waypoint or change thedestination while viewing the turnlist. When the Destination screenbutton is pressed, the display showsthe Destination screens.

End Guidance

Press the End Guidance screenbutton to suspend the current routein the turn list. When the EndGuidance screen button is pressed,the turn list is exited and the displayreturns to the main map view.

Avoid Areas

Press the Avoid Areas screenbutton to select the highway namethat is to be avoided. The systemshows a pop-up asking how manymiles or if the entire road should beavoided.

Turn List

. When under a waypoint trip,press on the Turn List InteractionSelector button to show the turnlist. When entering a turn list, thenext maneuver instruction isspoken.

. The turn list title is the name oraddress of the destination. Presson the information button next tothe name of the destination todisplay the destinationinformation.

. The turn list is sorted in orderwith the next maneuver at thetop of the list and thesubsequent maneuvers listedbelow it. The next maneuver isalways highlighted upon entryinto the Turn List to quickly showwhat the next maneuver is.

. Each maneuver indicates thedistance between it and theprevious maneuver or thevehicle’s current location. Thenext maneuver at the top willcount down until the maneuveris reached, and then the nextmaneuver will begin tocount down.

. Each maneuver has anestimated time of arrival basedon the current driving conditions.



Saved Trips

Waypoint trips can be saved forlater recall. Press the Add button inthe waypoints list to save the trip tothe Saved Trips list in the vehicle’scontacts list. When trips are saved,they are given a default title of thefinal destination. Saved trips can beedited by selecting the Edit list itembutton to access the edit screen forthe saved entry. The only field thatcan be edited is the name field.Press on the name field to accessthe keyboard view. Type the namechange. This change isautomatically saved when executedby the keyboard.

The saved trip can also be deletedfrom the edit mode. Press the deletebutton and a delete confirmationpop-up will display.

Waypoints

. When under a waypoint trip,press on the next turn indicatorto bring up the waypoint list. Thelast waypoint view is shown,which could be Waypoints, TurnList, or Edit Route.

. The waypoint list is sorted inorder with the next waypoint atthe top of the list. Each waypointis indicated with a numberedicon, starting with the nextwaypoint.

. To indicate what segment of theroute is for the next waypoint,and what is for the remainder ofthe route, they appear indifferent colors.

Optimized Route. Press the Optimize screen

button to optimize the currentwaypoint trip.

. The optimization is doneaccording to how thepreferences are set for newroutes, e.g., fastest route,shortest distance, or eco friendly.

. While the system is optimizingthe route, the waypoint trip hasthe Activity Indicator displayedover top of it. If the system iscalculating the ETA and traveldistance for a waypoint, theActivity Indicator is displayed inthe list header.

. When either a waypoint trip isfirst created, or additionalwaypoints are added to anexisting waypoint trip, they areadded in the location that wouldlead to an optimized route.



. If a destination is alreadyplanned and a waypoint isadded, it is either added beforeor after the current destination,whichever leads to the mostoptimal route.

. If under an existing waypoint tripconsisting of two or moredestinations, any additionalwaypoints are added in thelocation that would lead to themost optimal route.

Edit Route. Press the Edit Route screen

button to modify the order orremove a waypoint from theroute. Press the delete screenbutton to remove a waypointfrom the route.

. A pop-up displays asking forconfirmation of the waypointdeletion.

OnStar® SystemAn OnStar® Subscriber has theability to connect to the OnStarsystem and ask an OnStar Advisorto download a destination into thebuilt-in navigation system. OnStarwill send address information andlocation coordinates of thedestination into the navigationsystem.

OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation

Press the MENU button to go to theTurn-by-Turn menu.

The Turn-by-Turn menu consists ofthe following options:. Update Route (only shows if the

vehicle is off the route). Cancel Route. My Destination. Route Preview. Repeat

When the system is downloading aroute, the only option available isCancel Route. Once the route isdownloaded, the additional list itemsdisplay.



My Destination

If My Destination is selected, aspecial version of the ManeuverView displays. The DestinationAddress is shown in the StreetName field and the total distance tothe destination is shown in theDistance to Maneuver View. Pressthe DONE button to return to theManeuver View.

Route Preview

. If Route Preview is selected, aspecial version of the ManeuverView displays.

. Press NEXT to display the nextmaneuver information, includingdistance between it and theprevious maneuver.

. Press PREV to display theprevious maneuver information,including distance between itand the previous maneuver.

While on the current maneuver,the PREV button is hidden. If onthe last maneuver, the NEXTbutton is hidden.

. Press the DONE button to returnto the Maneuver View.

Repeat

Select Repeat to go back to theManeuver View. The audiblemaneuver prompt is repeated.

No Active Route

There is no active route:. If the vehicle does not have

navigation and the navigationapplication is selected from theHome screen, a screen stating,“No Active Route” displays.Press the Call OnStar button.

. If the system receives theindication that there is an activeOnStar subscription, the helptext is displayed with instructionson how to set up a route.



. If the vehicle is not equippedwith OnStar, the navigationapplication icon is removed fromthe home screen andapplications tray, so this view isnot accessible.

Mutually Exclusive fromEmbedded Navigation

If the vehicle has both a built-innavigation system and OnStar, thesystem only allows one applicationat a time. If an OnStar Turn-by-Turnroute is in progress, all otherinternal navigation functions aredisabled until the route iscompleted.

When the navigation application isselected, OnStar Turn-by-Turnscreens display.

Canceling an Embedded Route

If a route is in progress using thevehicle navigation system and anOnStar Turn-by-Turn route isrequested, the vehicle navigationsystem route is canceledautomatically.

Canceling a Turn-by-Turn Route

If a route is in progress usingOnStar Turn-by-Turn navigationsystem, and a route is requestedusing the vehicle navigation system,a pop-up is displayed confirmingthat the Turn-by-Turn route shouldbe canceled.

OnStar Canceling an EmbeddedNavigation

OnStar is able to remotely cancelthe vehicle navigation systemroutes. If an Advisor is requestedwhile connected to OnStar, all activevehicle navigation routes in thevehicle will be canceled. There willbe no confirmation, and this updatewill immediately be reflected on thedisplay. Route guidance can beresumed by selecting the ResumeRoute screen button in theMap Menu.

Settings

Press Settings on the Home Pageto adjust features and preferences,such as Time and Date, SportMode, Language, Valet Mode,or Radio. For setting options, seeSettings on page 97.

A few of the setting options changethe way the navigation systemdisplays or reacts while in use.

1. Press the Settings screen buttonon the Home Page.

2. Press the scroll bar until thedesired option displays. Selectthe desired settings to change.



Voice

Voice recognition allows forhands-free operation within thenavigation, audio, phone, andweather applications. See VoiceRecognition on page 81.

Press the voice screen button todisplay the Speech menu.

Prompt Length: Press to changethe prompt length to Short or Long.

Audio Feedback Speed: Press tochange the auto feedback speed toSlow, Medium, or Fast.

Confidence Threshold: Press tochange the sensitivity of speechrecognition system.

Display

Mode: Press Mode to change thescreen background. This settingcontrols map colors.. The Auto setting adjusts the

screen background automaticallydepending on the exteriorlighting conditions.

. The Day setting brightens themap background.

. The Night setting darkens themap background.

Calibrate Touchscreen: Press todisplay the Touchscreen CalibrationScreen.

Turn Display Off: Press to turn theDisplay option off.

Low Fuel Alert

If the vehicle reaches a low fuellevel, the system displays an alertabout the low fuel condition. Pressthe More Info. screen button to viewnearby gas stations, and startguidance if desired.

If the remaining driving distance isavailable from the system, this isincluded in the alert.

Global PositioningSystem (GPS)The position of the vehicle isdetermined by using satellitesignals, various vehicle signals, andmap data.

At times, other interference such asthe satellite condition, roadconfiguration, condition of thevehicle, and/or other circumstancescan affect the navigation system'sability to determine the accurateposition of the vehicle.



The GPS shows the current positionof the vehicle using signals sent byGPS Satellites. When the vehicle isnot receiving signals from thesatellites, a symbol appears on themap screen. See NavigationSymbols on page 61.

This system might not be availableor interference can occur if any ofthe following are true:. Signals are obstructed by tall

buildings, trees, large trucks,or a tunnel.

. Satellites are being repaired orimproved.

For more information if the GPS isnot functioning properly, seeProblems with Route Guidance onpage 80 and If the System NeedsService on page 80.

Vehicle PositioningAt times, the position of the vehicleon the map could be inaccurate dueto one or more of the followingreasons:. The road system has changed.. The vehicle is driving on slippery

road surfaces such as sand,gravel, or snow.

. The vehicle is traveling onwinding roads or long straightroads.

. The vehicle is approaching a tallbuilding or a large vehicle.

. The surface streets run parallelto a freeway.

. The vehicle has been transferredby a vehicle carrier or a ferry.

. The current position calibrationis set incorrectly.

. The vehicle is traveling at highspeed.

. The vehicle changes directionsmore than once, or the vehicle isturning on a turn table in aparking lot.

. The vehicle is entering and/orexiting a parking lot, garage, or alot with a roof.

. The GPS signal is not received.

. A roof carrier is installed on thevehicle.

. Tire chains have been installed.

. The tires are replaced or worn.

. The tire pressure for the tires isincorrect.

. This is the first navigation useafter the map data is updated.

. The 12-volt battery isdisconnected for several days.

. The vehicle is driving in heavytraffic where driving is at lowspeeds, and the vehicle isstopped and started repeatedly.



Problems with RouteGuidanceInappropriate route guidance canoccur under one or more of thefollowing conditions:. The turn was not made on the

road indicated.. Route guidance might not be

available when using automaticrerouting for the next right orleft turn.

. The route might not be changedwhen using automatic rerouting.

. There is no route guidance whenturning at an intersection.

. Plural names of places might beannounced occasionally.

. It could take a long time tooperate automatic reroutingduring high-speed driving.

. Automatic rerouting mightdisplay a route returning to theset waypoint if heading for adestination without passingthrough a set waypoint.

. The route prohibits the entry of avehicle due to a regulation bytime or season or any otherregulation which may be given.

. Some routes might not besearched.

. The route to the destinationmight not be shown if there arenew roads, if roads haverecently changed, or if certainroads are not listed in the mapdata. See Maps on page 61.

To recalibrate the vehicle's positionon the map, park with the vehiclerunning for two to five minutes, untilthe vehicle position updates. Makesure the vehicle is parked in alocation that is safe and has a clearview of the sky and away from largeobstructions.

If the System NeedsServiceIf the navigation system needsservice and the steps listed herehave been followed but there arestill problems, see Problems withRoute Guidance on page 80.

Map Data UpdatesThe map data in the vehicle is themost up-to-date informationavailable when the vehicle wasproduced. The map data is updatedperiodically, provided that the mapinformation has changed.

United States and Canada

To order, have the vehicle’s VehicleIdentification Number (VIN)available. This helps the centermake sure that the correct and mostup-to-date map data for the vehicleis received. See “VehicleIdentification Number (VIN)” in theowner manual.

Have the Vehicle IdentificationNumber (VIN) available whenordering to ensure the correct andmost up-to-date map data for thevehicle received. See “VehicleIdentification Number (VIN)” in theowner manual.

Database CoverageExplanationsCoverage areas vary with respect tothe level of map detail available forany given area. Some areas featuregreater levels of detail than others.If this happens, it does not meanthere is a problem with the system.As the map data is updated, moredetail can become available forareas that previously had limiteddetail. See Map Data Updates onpage 80.

Voice RecognitionVoice recognition allows forhands-free operation within thenavigation, audio, phone, andweather applications. This featurecan be started by pressing eitherthe g button on the steering wheelor the voice recognition icon on thetouchscreen display.

However, not all features withinthese areas are supported by voicecommands. Generally, only complextasks which require multiple manualinteractions to complete aresupported by voice commands.

For example, tasks that take morethan one or two button presses suchas selecting a song or artist to playfrom a media device would besupported by voice commands.Other tasks, like adjusting thevolume or seeking up or down areaudio features that are easilyperformed by pressing one or twobuttons, and are not supported byvoice commands.



In general there are flexible ways tospeak commands for completing thetasks. Most of them, exceptdestination entry and voice keypad,can be completed in a singlecommand. If the task takes morethan one command to complete, thefirst command would be to indicatethe kind of task that is to beperformed, like “NavigationDestination Entry.” The system willreply prompting dialog to help speakthe necessary information. Forexample, if a destination for routeguidance is needed, say“Navigation” or “Destination Entry.”

Voice recognition can be used whenthe ignition is on or when RetainedAccessory Power (RAP) is active.See “Retained Accessory Power(RAP)” in the owner manual.

Using Voice Recognition

Voice recognition becomes availableonce the system has beeninitialized. Initialization takes placeonce the ignition is turned on. Thismay take a few moments.

1. Press g on the steering wheelcontrol to activate voicerecognition, or press the voicerecognition icon on theinfotainment touchscreen on thecenter stack.. If voice recognition is

started from the steeringwheel control, theinstrument cluster displaysthe selections and visualdialog content.

. If voice recognition isstarted from theinfotainment touchscreenon the center stack, the listsand controls are verbal andthe visual displays throughthe center stack.

2. The audio system mutes and thesystem plays a prompt followedby a beep.

3. Wait until after the beepcompletes, then clearly speakone of the commands describedin this section.

Press g to interrupt any voicerecognition. This will terminatethe prompt. The beep is heardimmediately, and a commandcan be stated without havingto wait.

There are two voice prompt modessupported:. Long verbal prompts: The longer

prompts provide moreinformation regarding thesupported actions.

. Short prompts: The shortprompts provide simpleinstructions about what can bestated.

If a command is not spoken, thevoice recognition system says ahelp prompt.



Prompts and Screen Displays

While a voice recognition session isactive, there will be correspondingbuttons on screens displayed.Manual interaction in the voicerecognition session is permitted.Interaction during a voice sessionmay be completed entirely usingvoice commands, or someselections may expedite a session.If a selection is made using amanual control, the dialog willprogress in the same way as if theselection was made through a voicecommand. Once the system is ableto complete the task, or the sessionis terminated, the voice recognitiondialog stops.

An example of this type of manualintervention is pressing on an entryof a displayed number list instead ofspeaking the number associatedwith the entry desired.

Canceling Voice Recognition. Press the Home screen button.

Pressing this button willterminate the voice recognitionsession.

. Press or say “Cancel” or “Exit” toterminate the voice recognitionsession and display the screenfrom which voice recognitionwas initiated.

. Pressc on the steering wheelcontrols to terminate the voicesession and display the screenfrom which voice recognitionwas initiated.

Helpful Hints for SpeakingCommands

Voice recognition can understandcommands that are either naturallystated in sentence form, or directcommands that state the applicationand the task.

For best results:. Listen for the prompt and wait

for the beep before saying acommand or reply.

. Say “Help” or look at the screendisplay for commands.

. Voice recognition can beinterrupted during a prompt bypressing g again.

For example, if the promptseems to be taking too long tofinish, or if what is beingprompted causes a need for animmediate reply, press g againand wait for the beep.

. Speak the command naturally,not too fast, not too slow. Usedirect commands without a lot ofextra words.



. Usually Phone and Audiocommands can be spoken in asingle command.

For example, “Call David Smithat work,” “Play” followed by theartist or song name, or “Tune”followed by the radio stationnumber.

. Navigation destinations are toocomplex for a single command.First, state a command thatexplains the type of destinationneeded, such as I wantdirections to an “Address,”“Navigate to an intersection,” “Ineed to find a Place of Interestor POI,” or “Directions to aContact.” The system respondswith requesting more details.After saying “Place of Interest,”only major chains are availableby name. Chains are businesseswith at least 20 locations. Forother POIs, say the name of acategory like “Restaurants,”“Shopping Malls,” or “Hospitals.”

There is no need to memorizespecific command words. Directcommands might be more clearlyunderstood by the system. Anexample of a direct command wouldbe “Call 555-1212.” Examples ofthese direct commands aredisplayed on most of the screenswhile a voice session is active.If “Phone” or “Phone Commands,” isstated, the system understands thata phone call is requested and willrespond with questions until enoughdetails are gathered.

If the phone number has beensaved with a name and a place, thedirect command should includeboth, for example “Call David Smithat work.”

Using Voice Recognition forList Options

When a list is displayed, a voiceprompt will ask to confirm or selectan option from that list. A selectioncan be made by manually selectingthe item, or by speaking the linenumber for the item to select.

When a screen contains a list, theremay be options that are availablebut not displayed. The list on avoice recognition screen functionsthe same as a list on other screens.Scrolling or flinging can be used tohelp display other entries fromthe list.

Manually scrolling or paging the liston a screen during a voicerecognition session suspends thecurrent voice recognition event andplays the prompt “Make yourselection from the list using themanual controls or press the Backbutton to try again.”

If manual selection takes more than15 seconds, the session terminatesand prompts that it has timed out.The screen returns back to thescreen where voice recognition wasinitiated.

The Back Command

Say “Back” or press the Back buttonto go to the previous screen.



If in voice recognition, and “Back” isstated all the way through to theinitial screen, then “Back” is statedone more time, the voice recognitionsession will cancel.

Help

Say “Help” on any voice recognitionscreen and the help prompt for thescreen is played. Additionally, apop-up displays a text version of thehelp prompt. Depending on howvoice recognition was initiated, theHelp pop-up will either display onthe instrument cluster or theinfotainment touchscreen. Press theDismiss button to make the pop-upgo away.

Pressing g while the help prompt isplaying will terminate the promptand a beep will be heard. Doing thiswill stop the help prompt so that avoice command can be used.

Voice Recognition for theRadio

All audio screens have a voicerecognition button (g) to launchaudio voice recognition. If browsingthe radio when the voice button onthe screen is selected, the voicerecognition commands for Radiofeatures are available.

“Switch to AM”: Switch bands toAM and tune to the last AM radiostation.

“Switch to FM”: Switch bands toFM and tune to the last FM radiostation.

“Switch to XM”: Switch bands toXM and tune to the last XM channel.

“Tune to <AM frequency> AM”:Tune to the radio station whosefrequency is identified in thecommand (like “nine fifty”).

“Tune to <FM frequency> FM”:Tune to the radio station whosefrequency is identified in thecommand (like “one oh onepoint one”).

“Tune to <AM frequency> AMHD”: Tune to the HD Radio stationwhose frequency is identified in thecommand.

“Tune to <FM frequency> FMHD”: Tune to the HD Radio stationwhose frequency is identified in thecommand.

“Tune to <FM frequency> FM HD<HD channel number>”: Tune tothe HD Radio station whosefrequency and HD channel isidentified in the command.

“Tune to XM <XM channelnumber>”: Tune to the XM radiostation whose channel number isidentified in the command.



“Tune to XM <XM channelname>”: Tune to the XM radiostation whose channel name isidentified in the command.

Voice Recognition for AudioMy Media

If browsing My Media when thevoice button is selected, the voicerecognition commands for My Mediafeatures are available.

“Play Artist”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific Artist name.

“Play Artist <artist name>”:Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.

“Play Album”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific album name.

“Play Album <album name>”:Begin playback of the identifiedalbum name in the command.

“Play Song”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific song name.

“Play Song <song name>”: Beginplayback of the identified songname in the command.

“Play Genre”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific genre.

“Play Genre <genre name>”:Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.

“Play Playlist”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific playlist name.

“Play Playlist <playlist name>”:Begin playback of the identifiedplaylist in the command.

“Play <device name>”: Playmusic from a specific deviceidentified by name. The device

name is the name displayed on thescreen when the device is firstselected as an audio sourced.

“Play Chapter”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Chapter <chapter name>”:Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.

“Play Audiobook”: Begin a dialogto enter a specific name.

“Play Audiobook <audiobookname>”: Begin playback of themedia selection identified in thecommand.

“Play CD Track <tracknumber>”: Begin playback of theCD at the track identified in thecommand.

“Play Episode”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Episode <episodename>”: Begin playback of themedia selection identified in thecommand.



“Play Podcast”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Podcast <podcastname>”: Begin playback of themedia selection identified in thecommand.

“Play Video”: Begin a dialog toenter a specific name.

“Play Video <video name>”:Begin playback of the mediaselection identified in the command.

“My Media”: Begin a dialog toenter the desired media content.

Handling Large Amounts of MediaContent

It is expected that large amounts ofmedia content will be brought intothe vehicle. It may be necessary tohandle large amounts of mediacontent in a different way thansmaller amounts of media. Thesystem may limit the options ofvoice recognition by not allowingselection of song titles by voice atthe highest level if the number ofsongs exceeds the maximum limit.

Voice command option changesthrough media content limits are:. Song files including other

individual files of all media typessuch as audiobook chapters,podcast episodes, and videos.

. Album type folders includingtypes such as albums andaudiobooks.

There are no restrictions if thenumber of song files and albums isless than 4,000. When the numberof song files connected to thesystem is between 4,000 and 8,000,the content cannot be accesseddirectly with one command like“Play <song name>.”

The restriction is that the command“Play Song” must be spoken first;the system will then ask for the songname. The reply command would beto say the name of the song to play.

Similar limits exist for albumcontent. If there are more than4,000 albums, but less than 8,000,the content cannot be accessed

directly with one command like,“Play <album name>.” Thecommand “Play Album” must first bespoken; the system will then ask forthe album name. The reply wouldbe to say the name of the albumto play.

Once the number of songs hasexceeded approximately 8,000,there is no support for accessing thesongs directly through voicecommands. There will still beaccess to the media content byusing commands for playlists,artists, and genres.

The access commands for playlists,artists, and genres are prohibitedafter the number of this type ofmedia exceeds 4,000.

The system will provide feedbackthe first time voice recognition isinitiated if it has become apparentthat any of these limits are reachedduring a device initializing process.



Voice Recognition forNavigation

“Navigation”: Begin a dialog toenter specific destinationinformation.

“Navigation Commands”: Begin adialog to enter specific destinationinformation.

“Destination Address”: Begin adialog to enter a specific destinationaddress, which includes the entireaddress consisting of the housenumber, street name, and city andstate.

“Destination Intersection”: Begina dialog to enter a specificdestination intersection.

“Destination Place of Interest”:Begin a dialog to enter a destinationPlace of Interest category or majorbrand name (if equipped).

Not all brand names of businessesare available for voice entry. Mostmajor chains, such as chains withmore than 20 locations, should beavailable to search for by name, but

the name must be precisely spoken.Nicknames or short names for thebusinesses will not likely be found.Lesser known businesses mighthave to be located by category,such as fast food, hotels, or banks.

“Destination Contact”: Begin adialog to enter a specific destinationcontact name.

“Cancel Route”: End routeguidance.

Voice Recognition for thePhone

“Call <contact name>”: Initiate acall to an entered contact. Thecommand may include location ifthe contact has location numbersstored.

“Call <contact name> At Home,”“At Work,” “On Mobile,” or “OnOther”: Initiate a call to an enteredcontact and location at home, atwork, on mobile device, or onanother phone.

“Call <phone number>”: Initiate acall to a standard phone numberseven or 10 digits in length, andalso 911, 411, or 611.

“Pair Phone”: Begin the Bluetoothpairing process. Follow instructionson the radio display.

“Redial”: Initiate a call to the lastdialed number.

“Switch Phone”: Select a differentphone for outgoing calls.

“Voice Keypad”: Begin a dialog toenter special numbers likeinternational numbers. The numberscan be entered in groups of digitswith each group of digits beingrepeated back by the system. If thegroup of digits is not correct, thecommand “Delete” will remove thelast group of digits and allow themto be re-entered. Once the entirenumber has been entered, thecommand “Call” will start dialing thenumber.

“Voice mail”: Initiate a call to voicemail numbers.

“Weather”: Begin a dialog to entera weather location.

Phone

Bluetooth (Overview)The Bluetooth-capable system caninteract with many cell phones,allowing:. Placement and receipt of calls in

a hands-free mode.. Sharing of the cell phone’s

address book or contact list withthe vehicle.

To minimize driver distraction,before driving, and with the vehicleparked:. Become familiar with the

features of the cell phone.Organize the phone book andcontact lists clearly and deleteduplicate or rarely used entries.If possible, program speed dialor other shortcuts.

. Review the controls andoperation of the infotainmentsystem.

. Pair cell phone(s) to the vehicle.The system may not work withall cell phones. See “Pairing” inthis section.

Vehicles with a Bluetooth systemcan use a Bluetooth-capable cellphone with a Hands-Free Profile tomake and receive phone calls. Theinfotainment system and voicerecognition are used to control thesystem. The system can be usedwhile in ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY. The range of theBluetooth system can be up to 9.1 m(30 ft). Not all phones support allfunctions and not all phones workwith the Bluetooth system. Seewww.gm.com/bluetooth for moreinformation about compatiblephones.

Bluetooth Controls

Use the buttons on the infotainmentsystem and the steering wheel tooperate the Bluetooth system.



Steering Wheel Controls

g (Push to Talk): Press to answerincoming calls, confirm systeminformation, and start voicerecognition.

c (End Call): Press to end a call,decline a call, or cancel anoperation. Press to mute or unmutethe infotainment system when noton a call.

Infotainment System Controls

PHONE: Press this screen buttonto enter the phone main menu.

Audio System

When using the Bluetooth system,sound comes through the vehicle'sfront audio system speakers andoverrides the audio system. Pressjust above the chrome volume barduring a call to change the volumelevel. The adjusted volume level

remains in memory for later calls.The system maintains a minimumvolume level.

Bluetooth (InfotainmentControls)For information about how tonavigate the menu system using theinfotainment controls, seeInfotainment on page 3.

Pairing

A Bluetooth-enabled cell phonemust be paired to the Bluetoothsystem and then connected to thevehicle before it can be used. Seethe cell phone manufacturer's userguide for Bluetooth functions beforepairing the cell phone.

Pairing Information. A Bluetooth phone with music

capability can be paired to thevehicle as a phone and a musicplayer at the same time.

. Up to 10 devices can be pairedto the Bluetooth system.

. The pairing process is disabledwhen the vehicle is moving.

. Pairing only needs to becompleted once, unless thepairing information on the cellphone changes or the cell phoneis deleted from the system.

. One Bluetooth device can beconnected to the Bluetoothsystem at a time.

. If multiple paired cell phones arewithin range of the system, thesystem connects to the pairedcell phone in the order that theywere last used in the system. Tolink to a different paired phone,see “Linking to a DifferentPhone” later in this section.

Pairing a Phone

1. Press the PHONE screenbutton.

2. Select PHONES and select PairNew Device.



3. A four-digit PersonalIdentification Number (PIN)appears on the display. The PIN,if required, may be used inStep 5.

4. Start the pairing process on thecell phone to be paired to thevehicle. See the cell phonemanufacturer's user guide forinformation on this process.

5. Locate “Cadillac CUE” on thedisplay. Follow the instructionsprovided in Step 3, to enter thePIN . After the PIN issuccessfully entered or the codeis confirmed, the systemresponds with “<Device name>has been successfully paired”when the pairing process iscomplete.

6. If “Cadillac CUE” does notappear, turn the phone off orremove the phone battery andretry.

Making a Call Using Contactsand Recent Calls

Calls can be made through theBluetooth system using personalcell phone contact information for allphones that support the PhoneBook feature. Become familiar withthe phone settings and operation.Verify the cell phone supports thisfeature.

When supported, the Contacts andRecent Calls menus areautomatically available.

The Contacts menu accesses thephone book stored in the cell phone.

The Recent Calls menu accessesthe recent call list(s) from your cellphone.

Three-Way Calling

Three-way calling must besupported on the Bluetooth phoneand enabled by the wireless servicecarrier to work.

To start a three-way call while in acurrent call:

1. In the Call View, select Add toadd another call.

2. Initiate the second call byselecting from RECENT,CONTACTS, or KEYPAD.

3. When the second call is active,press Merge to conference thethree-way call together.



4. Once all calls are merged, theMerge button becomes anUnmerge button. Press tounmerge the calls.

Some wireless service carriersmay not allow a merged call tobecome unmerged.

Ending a Call


. Press End on the center stackdisplay to end all existing calls,or press End next to a call toend only that call.

. Press End on the instrumentcluster using the select button.

Dual Tone Multi-Frequency(DTMF) Tones

The in-vehicle Bluetooth system cansend numbers during a call. This isused when calling a menu-drivenphone system.


2. While in the Call View, press theup arrow to raise the interactionselector.

3. Select KEYPAD and enter thenumber.

Voice Mail

The default voice mail number is thephone number of the outgoingphone source. The voice mailnumber can be changed inBluetooth settings.

Clearing the System

Text MessagingIf equipped, the infotainment systemmay allow text messages to bereceived and replied to. Receivedmessages can also be read aloud.

Text Menu

Inbox: Press to display incomingmessages. To view a message,press on the name of the sender.Press > to listen to the text

message. Press [ Back screenbutton to go back to theprevious menu.

Reply: Press to reply using apredefined text message. See “TextSettings.”

Viewing a Text Message

While viewing a text message:. Press Reply to reply using a

Viewing Sender Information

If equipped, press the name of thesender to view sender information ifthis information matches contactinformation already stored.

Select a Predefined Message:Press to select from a set of quickmessages. Press the messageto send.

Predefined Messages

These are short text messages thatcan be used to send so responseswill not have to be typed.

The messages can be deleted or anew message can be added.

To add a new message:

1. Press Text Settings, then pressManage Predefined Messages.

2. While in the predefinedmessages list view, select AddNew Predefined Message and akeyboard displays.

3. Type a new message and pressNEW MSG when done to addthe message. Press [ Backscreen button to go back to thepredefined messages list. Pressz to delete one character ata time.

Memory Full

This message may display if there isno more room on the phone to storemessages.

Text Settings

Text Alerts: When on, this featurewill display an alert when a new textmessage has been received. Pressto turn on or off.

Manage Predefined Messages:Press to add, change, or deletepredefined messages.



SettingsThe Settings Menu allowsadjustment of different vehicle andradio features. The menu maycontain the following:

Time and Date

Press + or − to increase ordecrease hours, minutes, and AM orPM. Press 12Hr or 24Hr for 12 or24 hour clock. Press + or − toincrease or decrease month, day,or year. See “Clock” in the ownermanual.

Language

This will set the display language inthe radio, instrument cluster, andvoice recognition. Press Languageand select the appropriatelanguage. Press [ Back screenbutton to go back to theprevious menu.

Valet Mode (If Equipped)

This will lock the infotainmentsystem, steering wheel controls,steering column, and vehiclestorage locations, if equipped. Entera four-digit code on the keypad.Press Enter to go to theconfirmation screen. Re-enter thefour-digit code. Press LOCK to lockthe system. Enter the four-digit codeto unlock the system. Press [ Backscreen button to go back to theprevious menu.

Radio

Press to display the Radio Menuand the following may display:. Manage Favorites: Press to

highlight a favorite to edit. PressRename to rename the favoriteor Delete to delete it. Press andhold the station to drag it to anew location. Press Done to goback to the previous menu.

. Number of Favorites Shown:Press to set the number offavorites to display. Select Auto,5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45,50, 55, or 60. Auto will adjust thenumber of favorite locations thatcan be seen. Press [ Backscreen button to go back to theprevious menu.

. Tone Settings: Press + or − toadjust Bass, Midrange, Treble,or Surround. See AM-FM Radioon page 11.

. Tag Song: Press to tag songinformation, including artist andtitle, to transfer to an iPod®. See“Timeshifting” under AM-FMRadio on page 11.

. Timeshift: Timeshift is therecording of a radio station forup to 25 minutes. See“Timeshifting” under AM-FMRadio on page 11.



. Auto Volume: If equipped, thisfeature adjusts the volumebased on the vehicle speed. SeeAM-FM Radio on page 11.

. Bose AudioPilot NoiseCompensation Technology:If equipped, this feature adjuststhe volume based on the noisein the vehicle. See AM-FMRadio on page 11.

. Maximum Startup Volume: Thisfeature sets the maximumstartup volume. If the vehicle isstarted and the volume isgreater than this level, thevolume is adjusted to this level.To set the maximum startupvolume, press + or − to increaseor decrease. Press [ Backscreen button to go back to theprevious menu.

. Audio CUE Volume (IfEquipped): This feature adjuststhe startup and shutdownsounds. To adjust the volume,press + or − to increase ordecrease. This feature can be

turned on or off. Press [ Backscreen button to go back to theprevious menu.

From the Bluetooth screen button,the following may be displayed:. Add New Device: Press to add a
