You have chosen a ŠKODA vehicle, which is fitted with an Infotainment Radio Swing (hereafter called theunit) – we thank you for your confidence in us.The new operating concept allows you to make all the vehicle settings and to operate electronic systemscentrally from the device.

Please read this Owner's Manual carefully, because the operation in accordance with these instructions is aprerequisite for proper use of the unit.

Please note that these instructions are meant only as an addendum to the information presented in theOwner's Manual of your vehicle. Therefore, they can be used only in conjunction with the latest manual forthis vehicle. For a detailed description of some functions listed in these instructions, see the Owner's Manualfor your vehicle.

Vehicle equipment

These operating instructions describe all possible equipment variants withoutidentifying them as special equipment, model variants or market-dependentequipment.

Consequently, this vehicle does not need to contain all of the equipment compo-nents described in this Owner's manual.

The level of equipment of your vehicle refers to your contract. Further informationis available from a ŠKODA Service Partner.

The illustrations can differ in minor details from your vehicle; they are only inten-ded for general information. Ð

Safety instructions

WARNING

■ Concentrate fully at all times on your driving! As the driver you are fully re-sponsible for road safety. Only use the device such that you are in full controlof your vehicle in every traffic situation - risk of accident!■ Adjust the volume to ensure that acoustic signals from outside, e.g. sirensfrom vehicles which have the right of way, such as police, ambulance and firebrigade vehicles, can be heard at all time.■ High volumes can cause hearing damage. Ð

Warranty

The equipment warranty terms and conditions apply to this unit just like to newvehicles » service schedule. Ð

Component protection

Some electronic control units are factory-equipped with component protection.

The component protection was developed as a protection mechanism for:

› impairment of factory- or garage-fitted control units after installation in anothervehicle (for example, after a theft);

› impairment of components operated outside of the vehicle;› the possibility of a legitimate installation or change of control units for repairs

at a ŠKODA specialist garage.

When the component protection is enabled, the following message appears onthe display of the device Component theft protection: Restricted function.Switch on ignition.

If the component protection does not activate by switching on the ignition,please contact a ŠKODA specialist garage. Ð

Switching the unit on/off

› Press the knob 1 » Fig. 1 on page 4 to switch the unit on or off.

After switching on the unit, the last audio source that was active before switch-ing off will be played.

If the vehicle key is pulled out of the ignition lock while the unit is switched on,the unit will switch off automatically. After switching on the ignition, the unit isturned on automatically.

If the unit is switched off with the knob , it will not switch on automaticallywhen you switch on the ignition.

If your vehicle is fitted with the KESSY system, the unit will switch off automati-cally after the engine is turned off and the door is opened. If you open the driver'sdoor before switching off the engine, the unit will also switch off.

When the ignition is switched off, the system switches off automatically after ap-prox. half an hour (discharge protection of the vehicle battery). Ð

Volume setting

Increase volume› Turn the knob 1 » Fig. 1 on page 4 to the right.

Decrease volume› Turn the knob to the left.

Muting› Press the button MUTE or set the volume to 0 with the knob . £

■ RDS (Radio Data System) is used to transmit programme IDs and additionalservices, thus enabling automatic station tracking, for example. In the event ofsufficiently satisfactory reception, the suitable RDS radio stations will display thestation name instead of the station frequency.■ In countries where the RDS (Radio Data System) function is not sufficientlysupported, we recommend to switch off RDS Regional since it may affect thefunctionality of the radio.■ The AF (alternative frequency) function ensures that the best receivable fre-quency of the selected station is automatically and precisely set. Ð

Accessing radio mode in main menu› Press the button RADIO .

Selecting a frequency bandYour radio allows reception of FM frequencies (memory bank FM1 and FM2) andthe AM frequency bands (AM1 and AM2 memory bank).› Press the button RADIO → Confirm the selection with the function key 3 or

the button RADIO .

Saving a radio station› Set the desired radio station » page 11, Station finding and press and hold the

corresponding function key 3 until a beep is heard.

Selecting a stored radio station from the preset list› In the selected frequency band, press the buttons and or the function key

3 under the desired radio station.

Five presets are available in each frequency band.

Selecting a radio station from the station list› Press the buttons and or rotate the menu knob 2 to select and confirm

the desired station.

If no station list is available, the device will automatically search for radio sta-tions.

Traffic programme TP

› Press the button RADIO → menu knob 2 → TP.

The display in combination with a station name (e.g. in the station or presetlist), indicates a traffic programme station.

Traffic monitoring is indicated by the letters in the display.

While playing in Media mode, the last selected radio station continues to be re-ceived in the background if it is a traffic information station.

If the selected radio station does not perform traffic monitoring, for example, be-cause radio reception is overall interrupted, will be displayed. Ð

CD

Insert/eject a CD› Insert a CD, with the labelled side facing up, into the CD slot 12 until it is auto-

matically drawn in. The play function will start automatically.› Press the button – the CD is ejected.

If the ejected CD is not taken out within 10 seconds, it will be retracted again forsafety reasons.

WARNING

The CD player is a class 1 laser device. Opening the CD player produces a riskof injury through invisible laser radiation. £

1) If there are no artist, album and track names available in the file being played, the folder or file nameis displayed.

CAUTION

■ Only audio-CDs (CD-A) and MP3-CDs can be played in the internal drive. Neverinsert DVDs into the internal drive - risk of damage to the unit.■ Never insert CDs with the designation “Do not insert in drives without a drawer”or “Eco Disc” into the internal drive.■ Inserting a second CD while a CD is being ejected can damage the CD drive inthe unit. After pressing the button , there is a delay of a few seconds beforethe CD is ejected. During this time the lock in front of the CD slot is open. Be sureto wait until the CD has been fully ejected before you try to insert a new CD.■ If the CD has mechanical damage, is not readable or inserted incorrectly, the fol-lowing message is displayed Error: CD. Check the CD and insert it properly intothe drive. if the message Error: CD appears, try using another CD and visit aŠKODA specialist garage, if necessary.■ If the inside temperature of the unit is too high, no CDs will be accepted. Theunit switches into the last active operating mode.■ Never use liquids such as benzine, paint thinner or record cleaner, otherwisethe surface of the CD may be damaged!■ Never expose the CD to direct sun light!■ Only write on the CD with appropriate writing tools.■ Do not affix anything to the CD!

Note

■ Uneven road surfaces and strong vibrations may cause the CD to jump.■ In cold weather or after rain showers, moisture (condensate) may deposit in theunit. This can lead to playback jumps or impair the play function. In such cases,wait until the moisture has dissipated.■ If a CD is soiled, never clean the CD with circular movements but rather from theinside to the outside with a soft lint-free cloth. For heavy stains, we recommendthat you clean the CD with a commercially available CD cleaner and allow it to dry.■ It is possible that CDs protected by copyright and self-made CD-R and CD-RWare not returned at all or only in certain circumstances.■ The national copyright laws that apply in your country must be observed.■ The CD player contains no parts that need servicing or that can be repaired. Inthe case of a defective CD player, visit a ŠKODA specialist garage. Ð

Memory card

Inserting the memory card› Push the memory card into the memory card slot 14 with the trimmed edge to

the front right until it “locks into place”. The play function will start automatical-ly.

Taking out a memory card› Press the button SETUP → System → Remove SD card safely.› Press the inserted memory card. The memory card “jumps” into the eject posi-

tion.

Memory card empty or data not readableIf a memory card is inserted on which no data or no legible data has been stored,the unit will not be switched to the memory card mode after the loading proce-dure.

Requirements of the memory card› Memory cards measuring 32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm or 1.4 mm can be inserted

into the memory card slot.› SD (Secure Digital Memory Cards), SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity Memory

Cards) or SDXC (Secure Digital Extended Capacity) memory cards.› It is possible that some of the files on the memory cards cannot be played or

with limitation. Due to differing quality requirements from different card manu-facturers, it is not possible to guarantee the playback of memory cards under allcircumstances. Ð

External audio sources

AUX inputExternal audio sources connected to the AUX input cannot be operated from yourunit.

Use the standard 3.5 mm jack plug for the AUX input. If the external audio sourcedoes not have this jack plug, you must use an adapter .

USB inputBefore removing the USB device, proceed as follows:

If a connected Bluetooth® device allows, it can be operated from your unit.

To activate this function it is necessary for the external audio source to be pairedwith your unit » page 8, Media setup. The pairing process is identical to that ofthe mobile phone » page 18, Connecting mobile phone with hands-free system.

Adjusting the play volume of the external audio sourceThe playback volume of the external audio source can be changed with the but-ton .

Depending on the connected audio source, the output volume can be changed onthe external audio source » page 7, Sound setup.

Conditions for successful connection› Only USB devices with the specification 2.0 can be connected.› The version of the file allocation table (FAT) of the connected device must be in

FAT16, FAT32 or exFAT format.› When playing from a device which holds a complex folder structure or a very

high data volume, there may be a delay when reading the audio files.› The folder structure in the connected unit must not exceed a depth of 8 levels.

One folder must not contain more than 1000°data.

WARNING

■ Never place external audio sources on the dash panel. They could be throwninto the passenger compartment during sudden driving manoeuvres, injuringthe occupants.■ Never place external audio sources close to the airbags. They could bethrown into the passenger compartment when the airbags are deployed, in-juring the occupants.■ Never hold external audio sources in your hand or on your knees while driv-ing. They could be thrown into the passenger compartment during suddendriving manoeuvres, injuring the occupants.■ Always route the connection cable of the external audio source such that isdoes not restrict you when driving.

Connecting mobile phone with hands-free system

Introductory information

To connect a mobile phone with the hands-free system, the two devices must bepaired.

The pairing can be initiated from the hands-free system or from the mobilephone.

The hands-free system is indicated as SKODA BT wxyz in the Bluetooth® deviceto be paired. wxyz is replaced with the last four symbols of the VIN code of yourvehicle.

Conditions for successful pairingBoth the Bluetooth® visibility of the hands-free system » page 8 and the mobilephone must be turned on – see the owner manual of the mobile phone.

During the pairing process, no other mobile phone may be connected with thehands-free system.

The following will be displayed in the Infotainment radio screen, depending onthe type of the mobile phone: £

1) This selection is ignored by some mobile phones, and the A2DP and AVRCP profiles are linked auto-matically.

2) The newly entered PIN code must contain at least 4 digits.3) If a Bluetooth® player that is currently playing an audio file is connected with the hands-free system,

the hands-free system is not visible. Stop the playback or disconnect the Bluetooth® player in orderto restore the visibility.

The internal phonebook provides 2000 free memory locations. Each contact cancontain up to 5 numbers.

Upon the first connection of the mobile phone with the hands-free system, or ifno contacts are available, the message No contact available is displayed.

Downloading and updating the phone bookUpon the first connection of the mobile phone with the hands-free system, thesystem begins to download the phone book from the phone and from the SIMcard1) into the memory of the control unit.

If the phone book of the mobile phone contains more than 2000 contacts, loadingis stopped and the message Contact memory is full appears. Only the alreadydownloaded contacts will be available.

Each time the mobile phone has established a new connection with the hands-free system, the relevant phone book will be updated. During the update, thephone book which was stored after the last completed update will be available.Newly stored telephone numbers are only shown after the updating has ended.

If an error occurs while downloading the phone book, the message Contact listdownload failed is displayed.

The update can be started manually with the function Update.

› Extract the contents of the zip archive to the root directory of an empty USBflash drive, CD disc or SD card.

› Turn on the device and wait about a minute.› Press the button SETUP → System → System information.› Insert the appropriate data carrier into the unit.› Select and confirm the menu item Software update.

The display will show information on the software found.› Confirm the function Start.

The update process will be shown in the display.

When the update is complete, the display will show the message Software up-date completed.

If the update fails, the message There were errors. will be displayed.The updatemust be repeated. Ð
