A Warning…Don’t Settle For

Mediocrity

Revelation 3:14-22

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your

deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm — neither hot nor cold — I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I

have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched,

pitiful, poor, blind and naked...

Revelation 3:14-22

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes

to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I

am! I stand at the door and knock. . If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me

To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I

overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Revelation 3:14-22

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Revelation 3:14-15

"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'The words of the Amen,

the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation. "'I know your works: you are neither cold nor

Revelation 3:15

"'I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would

that you were either cold or hot!

Charles Spurgeon

They are not so cold as to abandon their work, or to give up their meetings, or to

reject the gospel; if they did so, then they could be convinced of their error and

brought to repentance; but on the other hand they are neither hot for the truth,

nor hot for conversions, nor hot for holiness, they are not fiery enough to burn the stubble of sin, nor zealous

enough to make Satan angry, nor fervent enough to make a living sacrifice of

themselves upon the altar of their God. They’re neither hot nor cold”

Revelation 3:17

For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing,

not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind,

and naked

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice

and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he

with me.

Revelation 3:16

So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Revelation 3:19

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous

and repent.

Revelation 3:19

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and

repent.

Revelation 3:18

I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you

may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself

and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to

anoint your eyes, so that you may see.

A Challenge…Keep Pressing On!

Philippians 3:12-16

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to

make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not

consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own.

ahead

Philippians 3:13

straining forward to what lies ahead,

Philippians 3:12,14

make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own… I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call

of God in Christ Jesus.
