    A bit about us

    Mrs. Tara Cooling

    I had a baby boy over the summer.

    I was born in London, England

    I gained my degree in England. In my 15th year of teaching:

    3 years teaching Year 4/5 in London

    2 years in Jakarta teaching Year 3

    2 years in (Lincolnshire) England teaching Year 5

    This is my 8th year teaching at ISM. I am excited to beteaching in Grade 5 middle school again this year.

    A bit about us

    Ms. Peta Henshelwood

    I was born in Hobart Tasmania, Australia,

    As an exchange student to Thailand (20+ years ago) Ibecame captivated by cultures and varying customs.

    I gained my degree at the University of Tasmania,

    Australia. In my 18th year of teaching:

    4 Years teaching Pre-School in Victoria, Australia;

    6 Years teaching Library and IT; Grades Prep, Grade 1-2, and Grades 3- 4 in Primary Schools around Victoria.

    2 years in Norway teaching Kindergarten, then Grade 5. This is my 6th year teaching Grade 5 at ISM and Im

    really excited about this new school year!

    General Information: Canteen:encourage students to make the right food

    choice; Please remind students to eat before play(especially boys)

    Brain Food: In Henshelwood Classroom

    Materials:Students can carry around theirbackpacks, but we encourage draw string bags for

    PE kits; and over the shoulder bags for ENCOREmaterials to limit the weight carried from class toclass

    Sleep: Middle School is a longer day, sleep isimportant

    Uniform: PE kit can be worn to school if PE is the1st subject of the day, students are required tochange into their school uniform after PE.

    For warmth: ISM jumpers/sweaters

    Wednesday: 11:40-12:15

    Friday: Assemblies

    Tutorials: Grade 5 students are required to attendtutorials

    Homework Guidelines:

    In 5th Grade we are huge believers in only

    setting homework that is valid and constructive

    The middle school has set in place the following

    guidelines in regard to homework:

    Grade 5:

    Approximately 40mins per week for each CORE

    subject Approximately 20mins per week for each

    ENCORE subject

    How you can support your Child at

    Home: Read and sign the planner daily;

    Check your child understands the homeworkquestions or criteria;

    Ask your child specific questions about theirday!

    Check out our Blogs;

    Focus on how and where your child is most

    productive doing their homework; Establish evening routines:

    Pack the backpack the night before;

    Go to bed at a specific time each night during the

    school week;
