Stud Classes

Pigs must be penned by 12.00 midnight on Thursday 6 September.Pigs will be admitted to the Showground after 8.00 am on Tuesday 4 September.Only pigs accepted for competition may be brought onto the Showground.Exhibitors must not move pigs into unauthorized pens without the consent of the Pig Supervisor.

CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIESThe following conditions will strictly apply:• All entry forms, whether lodged in person

or sent by post must be in the Society’s possession at its Administration Office by 5.00 pm on Friday 6 July 2012.

• Postal entry forms and fees will be accepted up to and including entries postmarked on or before the official closing date.

• A late entry option is offered under the following conditions:

• Received or postmarked within 7 days of the official closing date andan additional fee equivalent to three times the standard entry fee per class is to be paid.

• When sending entry forms and fees by post, the onus is on the the exhibitor to ensure adequate delivery time.

• Entry forms by facsimile are strictly forbidden and will be destroyed.

• If you require formal acknowledgement that your entry has been received, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your entry form.

• Absolutely no exception to the above conditions will be made to any exhibitor under any circumstance.

WITHDRAWALSAll withdrawals must be made in writing and can be sent via email to: [email protected] or faxed to (08) 8212 1533. Emailed withdrawals must include “Withdrawal” in the subject line and the section (eg Pig Section), exhibitor name, class number, exhibit number (if known) and exhibit name (if applicable).

Withdrawals must be made at least 24 hours prior to judging.

PAYMENT OF FEESWhen paying fees by cheque or credit card, exhibitors must ensure that sufficient funds are available at the time of entry. Failure to do so may result in non-acceptance of entries.

SPECIAL REGULATIONSExhibitors are reminded that the Society’s General Regulations apply to all sections of the Show and that the Special Regulations hereunder set out, which apply to this section only, are merely supplementary to and subject to the Regulations. A copy of the General Regulations may be obtained from the Society’s website at adelaideshowground.com.au or a copy may be obtained upon request from the Society’s Administration Office.

PRIZE MONEY AND GSTPrize money as stated in the Prize Schedule does not include GST.The prize money which we pay to successful exhibitors depends on information provided to us. If you confirm that you are GST registered and provide your Australian Business Number (ABN), we will pay the appropriate prize money plus 10% GST. We will provide you with a Recipient Created Tax Invoice which you will need to submit to the Australian Taxation Office.In entering the competition, you acknowledge your agreement to the following:• You will not issue a tax invoice to the

RA&HS in respect to prize money received • You will notify the RA&HS if you cease to be

registered for GST. If you provide your Australian Business Number but are not registered for GST, we will pay the prize money as detailed in the Prize Schedule without reference to the GST.If you confirm you are entering as part of a private recreational pursuit or hobby, we will pay the prize money as detailed in the Prize Schedule without reference to GST.

IMPORTANTIt is important that you either:• Confirm you are entering as part of a private

recreational pursuit or hobby, or • Confirm you are entering as a GST registered

business and supply your ABN Failure to do either of the above will cause the RA&HS to withhold 48.5% of your prize money in accordance with Australian tax legislation. The RA&HS is not a tax consultant and therefore assumes no liability for actions taken as a result of these guidelines. In any instances where an entrant or sponsor is uncertain of the tax implications of their involvement, they should consult their own accountant or tax advisor.

PAYMENT OF PRIZE MONEYEFT is a more efficient form of payment of prize money. Exhibitors are requested to nominate bank account details on the space provided on the entry form to facilitate prompt payment of prize money. Exhibitors who do not nominate a bank account may be paid by cheque by indicating on the entry form. Please note – payment by cheque will be made after EFT payments are processed.Please note that cheques will be made out in the name of the exhibitor. If you do not have an account in the name you have entered under, you will need to be paid via EFT.

To assist the Society, would you please ensure cheques are deposited promptly into a bank account. Replacement prize cheques will be issued up to 31 December 2012, however a fee of $10 may be charged. If the cheque to be replaced is not returned then an additional fee will be charged to cover the cost of cancellation. Any concerns regarding prize money must be raised with the Society by 31 December.

TROPHIESAll trophies and special prizes will be paid to the winner by the Society by cheque, unless the donor specifically wishes to provide a trophy. All trophies must be in the hands of the Society at least 14 days prior to the opening day of the Show.

INTERSTATE STOCK CLEARANCESExhibitors requiring Stock clearances are advised to contact the Department of Agriculture Inspector on 0408 897 583.

FIRE PRECAUTIONSPrecautions will be taken to guard against fire, and to protect the property at the Show, but exhibits will not be insured at the cost of the Society.Smoking is strictly prohibited in all livestock pavilions and lockers.No exhibitor or other person shall remove, or displace, or interfere in any way with, or use for any purpose other than the prevention of fire, any article or appliance provided for use in the case of an outbreak of fire upon the Showground, nor shall any exhibitor or other person remove or alter, or add to, or interfere in any way with any fixture, fitting, article, appliance or thing owned by the Society, or used in such fixture, fitting, article, appliance or thing for any purpose other than for which it is intended by the Society to be used.The consumption of intoxicating liquor in all pavilions, halls and attendants’ lockers is forbidden.

PENALTY FOR NON-EXHIBITION OF ANIMALSEvery animal entered must be exhibited unless a certificate signed by the exhibitor is lodged with the Society at least 14 days before the opening day of the Show, stating that the animal is unable to compete.A fine of $20 may be imposed for all late scratchings unless the scratching is notified by a statutory declaration setting out full reasons for scratching, together with an explanatory certificate signed by a veterinary surgeon. Notification must be received prior to 9.00 am on Friday, 7 September. Non-payment of these fines will debar exhibitors from parading their remaining pigs before the judge.

COMPULSORY REGISTRATIONAll pigs must be registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Pig Breeders Association.

EXHIBITSAll boars over 12 months must be detusked.Any sow which is offered for sale as being in pig must be in pig to a registered boar of the same breed, or to the registered boar of another breed.All sows 10 months and over must be visibly in pig or have farrowed within twelve months.

EXHIBITOR’S CARDSNo exhibitor shall display any prize card, display card, or ribbon on his animal or pen other than those issued or approved of by the Society for the current Show.Display cards will be supplied by the Society and on these the exhibitor must show the name of the breeder and the exhibitor. The registered stud name and address may also be shown.Exhibitors may also use their own cards, provided they do not exceed a width of 300 mm and a depth of 250 mm and are white in colour with black or coloured printing.In addition each stud will be allowed one sign per breed for stud advertising, the sign is to be no larger than 1200 mm x 600 mm. Name, address of stud and breed of pig only to be shown.Exhibitors may erect their ‘bred and exhibited by’ cards on the opening day of the Show.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIESPig Pass:Pig Pass vendor declaration forms must becompleted by all exhibitors of pigs to the Royal Adelaide Show if they are to be sold at the pure-bred and/or commercial sales. The number of entries and exhibits permitted in each class will be:

Boars: In the over 9 months and over 7 months and under 9 months classes, two animals may be nominated, but only one exhibited in each class. In the 5 months and under 7 months and under 5 months classes, two entries may be submitted. The animal’s name; date of birth; sire and dam to be handed to the Supervisor by 10.00 am on Friday 7 September. In the 7 months and under 9 months classes, the animals name, date of birth, sire and dam to be handed to the Supervisor by 10.00 am on Friday 7 September. Sows: In the 12 months and over classes, two animals may be nominated and exhibited. In the 10 months and under 12 months, 7 months and under 10 months classes, three animals may be nominated in each class, but only five may be exhibited overall. i.e. - three under 12 months and two under 10 months or vice versa. In the 5 months and under 7 months and under 5 months class two entries may be submitted. The animal’s name; date of birth; sire and dam to be handed to the Superintendent by 10.00 am on Friday 7 September. In the 10 months and under 12 months classes, the animals name, date of birth, sire and dam to be handed to the Supervisor by 10.00 am on Friday 7 September. Tattoo number to be supplied to the Superintendent by 10.00 am on Friday 7 September.Each stud can show and sell five of the six nominations in the under 10 months and the under 12 months classes.Animals entered in the sow, 12 months and over classes must have produced and visibly suckled a litter of not less than six pigs in the preceding 12 months. Sows (not necessarily named) with litters can be entered in litter classes only and only winning sows from these classes will be eligible, with exhibits from general classes, for championship awards.Exhibits may not compete in more than one class, except group classes.

Entries will not be accepted from a property under quarantine.

MATING DATESWhere mating dates are supplied on the entry form, they will be published in the catalogue.

SCRATCHINGSTo be handed to Pig Supervisor by 10.00 am Friday 7 September.

SICK OR DISEASED ANIMALSIf, in the opinion of a qualified veterinary surgeon appointed by the Society, an animal on the Showground shall be injured or be so affected by sickness, disease or other ailment as to warrant its destruction or its removal from the Showground as the case may be, the Society shall be entitled to have the animal destroyed and/or require the animal to be forthwith removed from the Showground and the exhibitor, upon receipt of such notice, shall forthwith remove such animal and failing such removal by the attendant within the time prescribed by the Society, by written notice to the exhibitor or their representative on the Showground, the Society may remove the animal or cause the animal to be removed and all costs and expenses of removal shall be borne by the exhibitor, and shall be refunded to the Society. Each such animal shall at all times be the sole risk and responsibility of the exhibitor and the person or persons removing the animal shall at all times be deemed to be the agents of the exhibitor. All acts and omissions on the part of such person or persons shall be deemed to be the acts and omissions of the exhibitor who shall indemnify and hold indemnified the Society, its servants and agents from all claims whatsoever in respect of the animal whether by reason of any loss or injury to or caused by the animal or because of transportation, feeding or housing or otherwise howsoever.The pavilion supervisor must be advised immediately of any sick or diseased animals attended to by the Society’s Veterinary Surgeon.

OVERGROWN PIGSIf a judge considers that a pig is overgrown for its age, he/she has the power to disqualify same.

WHITE ATTIREExhibitors and/or attendants shall wear white attire during judging.

MOST SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITOR AWARDSIn determining the most successful exhibitor awards, points will be allotted as follows:First, 3; second, 2; third, 1.In the event of a tie the following extra points will be counted:Senior Champion, 3; Junior Champion, 2; Reserve Senior Champion, 2; Reserve Junior Champion, 1.If there is still a tie then fourth, fifth and sixth prizes will be taken into account.Points will not count in any class unless there are two or more exhibitors in the breed.

LOCKERSA limited number of lockers are available on the Showground. The Society will, subject to availability, allocate lockers to exhibitors.Applications for lockers must be made no later than 6 July 2012.No exhibitor may apply for more than one locker.Fee, $35 per locker whether shared or not.The use of cooking or heating apparatus in lockers is strictly prohibited.The consumption of intoxicating liquor in lockers is forbidden.

STOCK TRUCK PARKINGExhibitors are advised that an area is available at Morphettville Racecourse for the parking of stock trucks during the Royal Adelaide Show.For further information please contact the Royal Show & Wine Show Division on (08) 8210 5211..

CLEANING OF PENSExhibitors will, to the satisfaction of the Society:1. Keep each pen allotted to them and their

animals in a clean and proper condition throughout the Show.

2. Clean out their pens not later than 8.00 am each day. Refuse can be deposited in alleyway.

FODDERThe Royal Adelaide Show Fodder Store is run by Keelan Grain and Fodder. Orders can be placed with them on site or by phone on (08) 8362 4178. Please note that no deliveries by vehicle can be made after 8.30 am. daily, so ordering the day before is preferred. Supplies must be hand trucked at other times.Exhibitors may bring and store in the stock pavilions their basic fodder requirements. Any exhibitor who, in the opinion of the committee, has more fodder than is considered necessary will be required to remove the excess from the ShowgroundExhibitors must not solicit orders for fodder on the Showground.

Animal Exhibitors Public Liability Insurance (Explanation) WHEREAS The Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia has agreed to effect a Public Liability insurance for certain Animal Exhibitors at the 2012 Adelaide Show, the following applies:-

Insured Party Animal and Livestock Exhibitors participating in competitions and events

Period of Insurance From seven days prior to the Show until seven days thereafter

Insured Activities All activities undertaken whilst within and from the confines of the event venue consistent with the Insured’s livestock exhibit activity including setting up and removal

Description of Cover Insurance in respect of the Insured Party’s liability to pay costs and compensation in respect of loss of or damage to third party property and death of or injury to third party persons or for advertising liability caused by and arising out of the Insured activities, all subject to the RAHSSA‟s policy terms, conditions, exclusions and warranties, etc.

COMPETITIVE EXHIBITORSConditions of Entry

HAZARD REPORTINGCompetitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately of any hazards detected. Hazards are any situation which has the potential to cause:1. Injury, illness or death to people or animals

either immediately or in the future2. Damage or destruction to property

INCIDENT REPORTINGCompetitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately an incident occurs which has resulted in:1. The injury, illness or death of any person or

animal 2. The damage, destruction or loss of property3. A near miss incident that could have resulted

in the consequences listed in 1 and 2

WASTE DISPOSALAll waste including liquids must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for the disposal of any waste.

HAZARD MINIMISATIONAll areas must be kept in a clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build up of combustible waste must be avoided.Care must be taken to minimise trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALSThe RA&HS are to be advised of all hazardous materials that are to be brought onto the Showground. Appropriate warning signs and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) will need to be provided before allowing these materials on site.

MEDIA COMMENTSAny public comment on emergencies, incidents or other venue matters should only come from the RA&HS. The key media spokesperson for the RA&HS is the Marketing Manager.

DUTY OF CAREAll competitors have a “Duty of Care” to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations which could lead to injury. This “Duty of Care” extends to the prevention of damage to property.

LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY1. Release Entry to and remaining on the Showground

is entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Exhibitor releases the Society (which term includes in this clause the Society’s officers, employees, members and agents), from all claims and demands of every kind resulting from any accident, damage or injury occurring at the Showground, and without limitation, the Exhibitor acknowledges:

(a) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibit;

(b) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees and Agents;

(c) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to a Motor Vehicle or any of its contents whilst it is located on the Showground; and

(d) without limiting Regulations 1 (a) and 1 (b) above, the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury resulting from the sale, treatment, failure to treat, destruction, disposal or other dealing with any Exhibit, or for loss, damage or injury to any personal belongings, equipment or property brought onto the Showground.

2 Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law,

the Exhibitor must indemnify and keep indemnified the Society and its officers, employees, members and agents from and against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, expenses and liabilities including without limitation, consequential loss and loss of profits for which the Society is or may be or become liable in respect of or arising from:

(a) loss, damage or injury to any person in connection with the Exhibit or the relevant Event;

(b) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to any other Exhibit or Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, Agents, or to the property of the Society, or its members, or to the general public, caused or contributed to or by any act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents; and

(c) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to the Exhibit, or the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, or Agents caused or contributed by an act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the transportation, feeding or housing of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor.

3 Removal from Showground Without prejudice to any other provision

in these Regulations, where the Society, its officers, employees, members or agents removes an Exhibit, or causes an Exhibit to be removed from the Showground, the Exhibit is removed or caused to be removed entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor. The person or persons removing the Exhibit will be deemed to be the agent of the Exhibitor, and his or her acts and omissions will be deemed to be the acts and omissions of the Exhibitor.

4. Insurance The Society will arrange Compulsory Owner’s

Liability insurance cover for all Exhibitors of Exhibits being animals. The Exhibitor is bound by the terms and conditions of this insurance and by Statutory Duties as defined under the Insurance Contracts Act (1984). Details of the Compulsory Owner’s Liability insurance are set out in the Relevant Schedule

5. Personal effects The Society has no responsibility or liability

for any loss or damage caused to personal belongings, equipment or property which is brought onto the Showground by an Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents.

EMERGENCY INFORMATIONEmergency information and Emergency Assembly Points for the various animal pavilions and stables will be included with Exhibitor Entry Detail Returns and Notice to Exhibitor mail outs. Competitors should be familiar with these plans.

FIRST AIDDuring the Royal Adelaide Show, St John Ambulance provides First Aid Services but it is suggested that competitors have a basic First Aid kit if minor injuries are a possibility.

RA&HS EMERGENCY FACILITIESFire fighting and other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to the Venue Management Office immediately.

SMOKINGThe RA&HS Smoking Code does not permit smoking inside buildings, within 10 metres of a building entrance, around combustibles, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials.

TRAFFIC CONTROLThe RA&HS Traffic Control Code imposes speed restrictions within the Showground. For the duration of the Royal Adelaide Show the speed limit is 10 kph.The use of vehicles inside the Showground is closely managed during the Royal Adelaide Show. Conditions of entry will be provided with the issue of Vehicle Entry Permits.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT1. All extension cords and electrical appliances

must be tested and tagged in accordance with current legislation as per Australian Standards 3760.

2. Power boards with overload protection can only be used at the discretion of the Venue Manager.

3. The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited.

4. Appliances and power cables must not be used or laid through any area that may become wet.

5. Power cables must not be laid across walkways, paths, roads or any area where damage could occur to the cable.

6. Bar (resistance) heaters are strictly prohibited.7. Light sockets must not be used for any other

purpose
