Holiday Planner
tHe Goulburn river valley Heart of victoria Holiday Planner is back by PoPular deMand!
With the firstpublicationsopopularanadditional25,000 copies were printed – we anticipate the same level of interest from advertisers and visitors at our second publication.
number of copies: 25,000 size: a4 number of pages: 60 including cover
Printed full colour throughout plus satin sealer. 200gsm satin art cover with 115gsm satin art throughout. (this is slightly lighter stock than the original planner but still of superior quality).
We envisage making changes to the imagesused but keeping the overall design very similar to the existing layout.
unlike official visitor guides, the holiday Planner features suggested touring options in categories that support our regions strengths, including:
• Naturalattractions • FoodandWine• Historyandheritage • Farmgateproduce• Fishing,watersports • Artsandculture andactivities • TheArmyand• Golf Militaryexperience
Promoting the region in this way encourages visitors to explore and design their stay around activities that personally appeal to their desired holiday experience.

I have never seen our region promoted
in such a beautiful way. I had to look
twice to see if it really was our region
in the photos! What a world class
publication – this is certainly a coffee
table book.

lot of visitors and rarely have funds to
promote properly – we love the book
and will be telling everyone about it.

the holiday Planner will once again be split into two easy to navigate sections.
the first section will feature the suggested tours including editorial and maps that pinpoint specific businesslocationstohelpvisitors‘selfnavigate’theregion.
the second half will feature townships and showcase a full listing of what is on offer in each town.
by doing this our readers will be able to have, at their fingertips, information that attracts them to explore a tour that appeals, and a full listing of what is on offer in each townships they visit.
each of these towns featured will have a short editorial introduction with the size of the introduction being governed by the level of advertising support.
tHe online coMPonentonce again the holiday Planner will be supported through interactive mapping on the grvt website – however we have taken this one step further and will be developing a complementary holiday Planner smart Phone app, taking interactivity to the next level!
distributiondistribution of the holiday Planner has been refined so we know we are only printing the exact number of copies we require until April 2015. We wantedto keep advertising costs as low as possible for industry, so we have monitored closely where the best distribution points for this publication are and tailored distribution accordingly.
the holiday Planner will be distributed through to following channels:• Visitor Information Centres throughout Victoria

as an incentive, participating businesses will be able to provide exclusive offers to the ever-growing database collected at past and future trade shows.
consumers love the thought of special deals so we plan to offer a host of incentives for people to visit and stay in the goulburn river valley region.
goulburn river valley tourism will produce a double sided a4, full colour flyer featuring 44 special offers from a host of businesses including accommodation, dining and attractions. so no matter what style of business you have, you will be able to take part in this promotion.
it is important to have “value added” offers rather than straight percentage discounts. two full pages of discounts will be ineffective as it encourages the consumer to only look for the cheapest option – we want you to make money, not sacrifice profit!
We are encouraging businesses to value add –partner with a local attraction, offer a free bottle of wine, a local produce hamper on arrival, an upgrade, breakfast, complementary night - anything that will set your business apart and entice visitors to experience your business.

The historic
gold town of
Rushworth, a

prospectors in
the 1850s, boasts a National

About 7km to the south is
the once-thriving gold rush

one of the best-preserved
structures of its kind in
Victoria, is another top
attraction, whose manager’s
residence and outbuildings
seem frozen in time.
The Goulburn River winds
its way through beautiful
countryside around
Shepparton, where gold-

the river as they moved from

Carlo Monichino’s

at Katunga near
Shepparton, and the 80-year-

vineyard he first planted in 1962.
When Carlo isn’t hurtling
across the vineyard on a
motorbike, this high-octane
octogenarian can most often be
seen cooking lunch for the staff.
Either that or you’ll find him,
wine glass in hand, bantering
with customers at the cellar
door, where shelves are laden
with award-winning vintages
from Monichino Wines.
Born in Italy, Carlo is living
proof that a daily drop may be
good for you. Or perhaps it’s the
pure country air of the Goulburn
Valley that accounts for his
healthy longevity.
Stretching from Seymour to
Echuca on the Murray River, the
Goulburn Valley is synonymous
with agriculture. It’s home to
everything from dairy farms to
orchards where apples, pears
and other fruit is grown and then
trucked to Shepparton’s SPC-
Ardmona, one of the world’s
largest fruit canneries.
Surrounding the canneries
here are small communities
that have recently emerged as
popular getaway destinations
– thanks in large part to their
boutique wineries, country pubs
and eateries, farm-gate produce
and relics of the region’s past.
