humblebeginning.Backthenwecouldcountthetotalnumberofproductswe

offeredononehand.Weknewtheconceptofconvertinganexistingwheelset

totubelesswasgoingtobeahardsell,butnowcycliststheworldoverknowthe

manybenefitsofridingtubeless.

Thepast10yearshaveseentremendousgrowthforourcompany-including

expansionofourflagshipproduct-theStandardConversionKit-toavariety

ofrimtypesincludingDownhill,Freeride,Cyclocross,29ersandournewest

conversionkit,theRoadTubelessbundle.TheintroductionofStan’sTireSealant

-affectionatelyknownasthejuice,milch(forourGermanfriends),gooandmany

others-followedontheheelsoftheconversionkitsandprovidedasolutionto

theslowleakscommoninatubelesssetup.Evenbetteristhefactthatitalsoseals

countlesspunctures!Neveronetositstilllong,Stanandhiscrewwereontothe

nextidea-acompletelyredesignedmountainbikerimandfromthereBeadSocket

Technology(BST)wasborn.In2004thefirstZTRrim,theOlympic,hittheshelves.

Insixshortyearswe’vebeenhonoredtoseeourrimsriddentomanypodium

finishesfromWorldCupstotheOlympicstoLeadvilleandbeyond.Tomeet

themanyneedsofeverystyleofriderwecreatedthe355,Arch,Flow,Alpine,

Crest,RaceandPodiumrims.2011alsomarksthebirthofourfirstrimforroad

andcyclocross,thelongawaitedAlpha.

Ofcourseourstorywouldnotbecompletewithoutmentioningourmoveto

The NoTubes Zero Tube Rim (ZTR) rim lineup represents the

cutting edge of modern design, utilizing the latest in finite

element analysis. In addition, information from destructive

testing is gathered as well as feedback from some of the best

riders in the world. ZTR rims are light weight and designed to

be used tubeless with Stan’s Tire Sealant.

While the ZTR rims are often the light weight leaders in a

given category, they offer much more than less rotational

mass. Revolutionary features such as Bead Socket Technology

(BST), have allowed once wasted material to be repositioned

for enhanced rim strength where it is needed most. Also, the

concept of using a thin tape to seal the rim air tight enables

the use of traditional wheel building materials and methods,

meaning easier builds and repairs when necessary. For 2011

we bring these proven concepts to the skinny tire folk in the

form of the ZTR Alpha 340 for road and cyclocross.

Exceedingly smooth, extraordinarily fast and

unquestionably the next step forward in performance.

The Alpha 340 represents the first implementation

of Bead Socket Technology (BST) for the road and

cyclocross market. The short sidewalls and wide

inside rim cavity allow for lower tire pressure while

maintaining a firm tire feel with decreased rolling

resistance and a more compliant ride quality. The low

weight and semi-aero profile of the Alpha 340 makes

Custom builds take many factors into account including rider weight,

riding style, intended use, the bike the wheels will be used on, any

A fresh new look to the packaging but the same great sealant

within. Stan’s Tire Sealant has always been non-hazardous, non-

toxic and safe for the environment so we decided it was time to

make that fact a little more well known.

Unlike other tire sealants, Stan’s Tire Sealant is a very thin, low

viscosity liquid that coats the inside of the tire and carries with it

specially formulated sealing crystals. The low viscous nature allows

the sealant to quickly reach the puncture site and the crystals aid

in sealing large holes, something which thicker or foaming style

sealants can’t claim.

Stan’s Tire Sealant will stay liquid in a mountain bike tire with a thin

casing for two to seven months on average. Riding in arid climates or

storing the bike in a hot area will require more frequent monitoring

of sealant levels. Special anti-freeze agents allow the sealant to be

used in environments as cold as -30° F.

Stan’s Yellow Rim TapeDesigned to seal the spoke bed of BST equipped rims air tight or may be used as a light weight rim tape in any rim.

See page 11 to find the correct width for your ZTR rim. Non-BST equipped rims require a full tubeless conversion kit, see page 17.
