SHARK The American International School of Rotterdam From the Director Dear Parents, All has seemed remarkably calm at school this week. Perhaps we should not be tempted to say such things… Today, many teachers were involved in training for our BHV (Emergency Response Team) so your children may have noticed some small disruptions to their normal routines. The training continues tomorrow and it is very good that so many staff are prepared to volunteer for this important contribution to school safety and student well being. Forthcoming events include: Tuesday, November 8, 2.15pm: Student Services Meeting Thursday, November 10 and Friday, November 11: NECIS tournaments in The Hague and Amsterdam for Middle and High School (I am absent from school on Friday afternoon) Wednesday, November 16 - Friday, November 18: ECIS Conference in Lisbon (some teachers and I will be absent) Tuesday, November 22, 7.00pm: High School Play Wednesday, November 23: School Thanksgiving Lunch and celebrations Wednesday, November 30 (all day): Middle and High School French trip to Brussels. From the Elementary PrincipalDear Parents,

The Elementary School had a very quiet week in comparison to last week – perhaps the calm before the storm! As you can see, from the list of up-coming events, we are about to embark on a rather busy period.

Up-coming events:• November 23 – Thanksgiving Celebration (More details will be sent out closer to the time.)• December 5 – Sinterklaas will visit the school• December 8 – Tree Lighting Ceremony and Seasonal Program• December 15 – Elementary Play – The Little Prince

The new Mother Tongue Program is proving to be very successful. The feedback from both teachers and students is extremely positive. Next Monday, it will be “Game Day”. Students are asked to bring in a board game or a card game in their own language to play during this time.

We also have quite a few books in the different languages – however, if you have any books in your home, that you could donate to this program, we would be very happy to receive them. Ms. Sara Moroney is coordinating the Mother Tongue Program, so if you have any questions, do contact her at the following e-mail address: [email protected].

It looks like this weather is going to continue, so have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.Anne-Marie [email protected]

.The AISR Halloween Event was Spookʼtacular!
