On “Revolutionary students start crucial dialogue” (Logan Froerer, April 4, 2011) Opinion
DaBearsposted 4.5.11 @ 7:02 p.m.Thank you for being “that guy” that makes all of us on campus laugh at your “revolutionary” non-sense. The fact you have a communist flag with a U logo on it only makes me laugh harder. Even the most Leftist of profes-sors believes in the principles behind capitalism at the U. Don’t believe me? Look at their syllabus. They have a set grading structure, and those who PERFORM the best get the highest grades. There’s no sharing of points, no sub-sidizing the lazy, some are naturally smart, others have to work harder. Either you do, or you don’t. Capitalism (also known as the free market) is the driving force behind America’s greatness. How does punishing the productive inspire one to continue to be productive? Where’s the incentive to do great things, work long hours, take great risks, etc... if there’s no added reward for doing so?I’m not too concerned. Eventually these college “revo-lutionaries” grow-up, get a job, maybe start a family and realize just how lucky they are to live in a free society where people are compensated based on their talents, skills, creativity, work-ethic, and sometimes sheer dumb-luck.

Pluralism enhances, not inhibits, religious freedom
ColoradoRobposted 4.7.11 @ 10:54 a.m.Good. There’s no good reason why my tax money should go to broadcast stuff on the air. “Cuz otherwise it might not get broad-cast” isn’t a good reason. Advertisers will be there if you have viewers. No viewers = should go away. Fund raisers work or not. Pledge drive doesn’t pan out? That means nobody wanted to watch the stuff you’re broadcasting enough to keep it going.
Anonymousposted 4.7.11 @ 11:30 a.m.I like public broadcasting but they need to be financially sol-vent. And not partisan, NPR!
Anonymousposted 4.7.11 @ 1:04 p.m.To the first comment: Which is exactly why Obamacare passed, because it’s what the people wanted. Yeah right. Get real, biased news reporting needs to be privatized.
wow.posted 4.7.11 @ 6:07 p.m.NPR is the most objective, informative, and quality news sta-tion out there. I don’t get why everyone says it’s biased? Is it just because they don’t spout the same inflamatory, smear campaign-ing rhetoric used by extreme “news” stations on both sides of the spectrum? I guess anything moderate is still too far left for conservatives. The idea that the market should dictate every aspect of society is what scares me most about libertarian and conservative ideas. Anyway, NPR cost the average American $1.34 a in taxes a year. Wow, what a huge sacrifice. And all towards some boring nature programs and documentaries that try to broaden my world view and inform me about important issues that corporate funded sta-tions wouldn’t want me to know about. No, those aren’t important reasons to fund things at all.

posted 4.7.11 @ 6:15 p.m.The whole point of “Public Broadcasting” is that it is “Public” people, hello! i.e. funded by the people, for the people, not by the corporation with the most money or the shrillest voices.
