e 2010 Wisconsin Corporate Safety Award selection process involved two phases. In Phase 1, statistical data relating toa company’s incidence rates for the past three years, with an emphasis on 2010, was reviewed and a core group of Mnalistswas selected. In Phase 2, those Mnalists - nominees with the lowest incidence rates in each category, answered a series ofsubjective questions pertaining to workplace health and safety issues.

Tom Ordens has served well the needs of the Wisconsin Safety Council sincefirst joining its ranks on the Occupational Safety Committee in 1984. He hasbeen chairman of many WSC committees, and held every leadership positionwithin the WSC board of advisors, retiring from the WSC Board in December2010. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education from UW-Stout,and a master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction from UW-Milwaukee.
Although he is officially retired from his leadership positions on the WSC advisory board, Tom canoften be found traveling Wisconsin’s countryside on his way to a WSC meeting or event.

Jim Leef is the eldest of the third generation of the Leef family to serve aspresident of Industrial Towel and Uniform of New Berlin, Wisconsin,following his grandfather, George Herman Leef, and father George LucasLeef. Jim began working on delivery routes while in college in 1974 andwent to work at ITU full time in 1978 after graduating from the University ofArizona with a degree in Finance. His first assignment was in route and sales
management for ITU in the Chicago area, until 1986 when he became the company’s GeneralManager and moved back to the Milwaukee area. Jim became president of ITU upon his father’sretirement in 1993.
From the start of the business in the Milwaukee area in 1930, the company has grown to includeprocessing operations in Neenah, WI, South Bend, IN, Titusville, PA, and Piedmont, SC. The routeservice network covers the eastern half of the United States, employing about 400 people.
