BIG HORN BASIN CONFERENCE TEAM – 3rd Place

We had a small and young team at conference, but we sure had fun! The conference meet was held in Riverton February 20-21 and we had as many swimmers as Powell Pirahnas (1st place) and the Big Horn Basin Blue Dolphins (2nd place). Though Powell took home the traveling trophy, Lander took with them something even more special: new qualifying times! More swimmers are able to swim more events at Winter State. We had two swimmers who swam in their first meet, and two swimmers who swam in the first away meet. Most importantly, our swimmers showed how much they learned this year. They were self-guided and able to follow the meet format and were prepared for their events, many of them successfully swam events that were challenging to them in the past. Congratulations to all of you! You swam very well!

Swimming Summer Camps

Yes, the snow is still on the ground and icicles haven’t yet melted away, but summer camps are coming up fast. If you are thinking of sending your athlete to a swim camp, start researching now. Local camps fill up fast and the cost varies. You will need a copy of USA Swimming card to register for camps. Please contact Norma Dufek 332-3220 (ddufek@wyoming.com) to get a copy or jpg of the card. PLEASE, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR REQUEST TO THE LAST MINUTE! If you have questions about whether or not your swimmer is ready for camp, please contact coaches – Jennifer, LT, Richard and/or Erik.

  CHAMPS! – 14 in a Row 

A record 14 in a row, the LVHS Boys High School Swimming and Diving Team out scored eleven other 3A teams by 87+ points.  Led by LSC founder Bruce Gresly, and assistant coaches Tim Hester, Lantien Chu, and Erik DeClue, the team had 18 boys qualify for the championships, and the majority scored in consolations and/or finals.   

Current and former swim club members include: 

Philip  Baron,  Travis  Boulette, Jonah Burke, Quinn Cerovski, Ross Cook,  Alex  Fowler,  Alan Mandel, Glen  McCully,  Trey  Meredith, Darren  Pursel,  Willie  Ratz,  Matt Robinson,    Nick  Robinson,  Zach Tilton, and Jordan Toppenberg. 

LSC Coaches: Lantien Chu and Erik DeClue
