THE IRISH AMERICAN PARTNERSHIP After eighteen years of enjoyable and memorable golf tournaments in Chicago and a two-year hiatus, it was wonderful to experience the return of The Irish American Partnership’s golf tournament to Beverly Country Club on Monday, May 24, 2010. Our thanks to Honorary Chairman Jim Houlihan and Tournament Co-Chairs Philip B. Rooney, Jr. and Patrick Heneghan for their efforts in making the tournament such a success. Beautiful weather, challenging golf and fine Irish camaraderie added to the day. The winning foursome of Pat Garvey, Pat Collins, Jay Ledinsky and Joe Barbour were awarded round-trip airline tickets to Ireland. Tourism Ireland provided materials on visiting Ireland, a golfer’s paradise. Funds raised from the Partnership’s golf tournament at Beverly were presented the following week in County Mayo by co-chair of the tournament Patrick Heneghan. A gathering took place at the National School in Tourmakeady. Included with Patrick and his wife Kelly were representatives from the five schools which received funds – Tourmakeady National School, Colaiste Mhuire in Tourmakeady, Killasser National School, Meelick National School and Culmore National School – the County Manager of Mayo Peter Hynes, the Chairman of Mayo County Council John Cribben, Joanne Grehan of Western Development Commission and niece of Golf Committee Member Jim Durkan, and Golf Committee Member Chris Kozicki and his family.
