Welcome to Vermillion, South Dakota and The University of South Dakota. We are pleased to have you as our guests and The University of South Dakota athletic staff would like to assist you with your visit to Vermillion and the USD campus in every possible way.

Teams traveling to and staying in Vermillion will enjoy our local hospitality. This guide contains contact information for coaches and administrators, directions to venues, maps, and other resources for Vermillion travel information (i.e. hotel, restaurant, airport, transportation and attraction information).

I have also included a brief questionnaire which will help us meet your team’s needs. Please complete it and fax it back at your earliest convenience.

Game Day Provisions The visiting team locker room will be provided with towels, soap and taping tables in the hallway. Treatment modalities are available in the training room. Game programs will also be provided in the locker room. On the field/court the team areas will have water, cups, ice, towels, and a treatment table. Emergency Medical Service Units will be on site and standing by should a need arise.

officials Game officials will be provided by The University of South Dakota. Officials’ locker room is located in the coaches’ locker room at the north end of the building.

Uniforms In accordance with NCAA guidelines, USD will wear white jerseys and the visiting team will wear dark unless otherwise stated and approved prior to the contest. However, during football season USD will always wear red jerseys at home games.

2. Visiting Team Bench and Sidelines - East side of field.

3. Visiting Team pre-game warm-up area - South end of Lewis Field.

4. Visiting team extended area for kickers, punters, and returners - East sidelines along visiting team side.

5. Visiting team coaches area in southern most sky box - room for 2-3 coaches maximum

6. Ice, water, cups, and towels will be provided by USD for your use on your sidelines during the game. We will also provide a treatment table and kicking net.

7. An ambulance service is provided during the game and a home team doctor is available if services are needed. Treatment modalities will also be available in the training room.

8. USD will utilize wilson Gst Footballs during games.

9. Game programs will be provided in your locker rooms.

10. Copies of the game statistics will be provided after the game at half-time and after the game.

11. Your video-taper can film from the east box on top of the press box.

12. A host from USD shall meet the visiting team. Contact Jeanette Hubert - 605-677-8840 for game day host information.

13. Guest passes provided by the conference office are the only complimentary tickets provided.

14. Official completed statistical game reports should be forwarded by the host institution to the respective head coaches.

15. An escort will be provided for the officals at halftime and after the game. This escort must be an employee from the institution or a professional security guard. Prior to the contest, officials will be notified who will be responsible for escorting them off the field as well as promptly allowing them in their dressing area. Officials will not be subject to unnecessary abuse from fans, players, or coaches.

Press boX Quickie stats provided after each scoring drive and at the end of each quarter. Final statistics and play-by-play will be avail-

able to all working media members. Game day OperationsVisiting teams can be dropped off at the main entrance to the DakotaDome

Upon entering the building, the game day manager or host will meet the team and escort them down to the first floor where their locker room will be and show them the location of the court and the trainer’s room.

Visiting Team Bench will start on the southwest side of the arena, and will rotate on at the end of each game. Ice, water, cups and towels will be provided by USD for your use on the benches.

spirit moundWalk in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark and come join in the history standing atop of Spirit Mound. Spirit Mound, or Paha Wakan, was known by the tribes and was thought to be occupied by little people that would shoot any human who came near the mound. On August 25th, 1804, Captains Lewis and Clark took eleven men to explore the mysterious mound. Lewis and Clark climbed to the summit and wrote, “from the top of the hill we beheld the most beautiful landscape.” Open year round with a bike path and a picnic and restroom area. The river valley is as large as two miles in some places, a testament to the twists and turns the river has taken over the last several thousand years.
