RealSeal Cups

Independent Sealing Lip

• RealSeal features multiple sealing lips, which means more effective seal throughout the pipeline run.

• With the RealSeal cups, sealing as the pig passes girth welds in a pipeline become a non-issue.

• Available in Vantage cups, heavy duty cups and Ultra multi-lip discs.

• Critical sealing applications such as nitrogen purges, line filling for hydrostatic testing and cleaning.

• Also very effective in commissioning of lines, displacement and batch separation.

Reduced Customer Costs:Decreased manpower—less changing of cups due to increase wear life.Increased wear life—Customer testimonies saying RealSeal wears 2X as long as conventional cups—for very little cost increase.

Why RealSeal has longer wear life? Lips are more flexible and easily move out of the way; reduces load on the Urethane which minimizes wear.

Unisphere• 99% of the time, spheres are used to

push liquids out of natural gas gathering lines.

• Gravity allows the automated launching and receiving of spheres which makes them very easy to use and very cost effective.

• Typically, lines have been designed to handle spheres.

• Seamless, one-piece, inflatable.

• Spheres are filled with liquid and can also be inflated to compensate for wear.

Gauging Pigs

This gauging pigs are used to detect bends and or anomalies in lines.

Magnetic Cleaning Pigs for Ferrous Materials

Debris such as welding rods, bolts, tools, etc., is very difficult to remove with conventional pigs as the pigs typically push these objects for some distance and then ride over them.

The removal of this type of debris is a must before attempting to run Corrosion Inspection Pigs and can be accomplished with a magnetic cleaning pig.

Other Popular Alternatives

Page 26: 2008 Pigging PowerPoint

26

Bypass• Benefits of Bypass in Pigs• Can be used to slow pigs to optimum speed• Prevents debris pile up in front of the pig (riding over

it)• Suspends debris ahead of the pig in the faster flow• Bypass in cups or discs jets / dislodges debris• Continuously clears debris from the cleaning elements

on the pig

• The best choice is a pig with discs, conical cups, spring mounted brushes and bypass ports

• Discs are effective at pushing out solids while also providing good support for the pig.

• Conical cups provide excellent sealing characteristics, good support and long wear.

• Spring mounted brushes provide continuous forceful scraping for removal of rust, scale and other build-ups on the pipe wall.

• Bypass ports allow some of the flow to bypass through the pig and helps minimize solids build-up in front of the pig. Also used for slowing the speed of the pig down.

Selecting A Pig For Cleaning Applications

Page 55: 2008 Pigging PowerPoint

55

1. Filling and Dewatering2. Commissioning/Evacuation/ Decommissioning3. Nitrogen purging/ Isolating/Batching

• The best choice would be a four cup pig with RealSeal conical cups• Conical cups will maintain contact with the pipe wall even in out-of-round pipe

(as pipe size increases, the out-of-round condition becomes more common).• Multi-lipped cups have numerous, independent sealing lips on each cup which

greatly improves its ability to maintain a seal.

How Often Should You Pig ?How much Liquid (gals/bls) are you removing from a pipeline segment ?

How much particulate are you removing from filters on the pipeline segment ?

How corrosive is the specific pipeline segment environment ?

What is the range of dew point in the gas stream of the pipeline segment in question ?

How much corrosion already exists in the pipeline segment ?
