2008 Air Race Classic“Top 10” Drawing

• As scheduled, on February 9, 2008, the drawing for the first 10 race numbers was held at the Vernon Conly Air Service Hanger at LaBelle Municipal Airport (X14).

• All racers whose applications were postmarked on or before January 31st and who were received were in the hunt for the low numbers.

• In all, 16 race teams were in the drawing and we had 3 other teams purchase numbers after Classic 10.

We had planes flying in from every direction in spite of the early morning

fog which dissipated just in time for the drawing. With light winds, it was a

perfect day to fly.

Everything was set: All qualified

team names were written on ping-pong balls and placed in a

double bag.

race number order.
