History:The department was established in 2004 with the establishment of Jeddah Community College.

Departmental Requirements:There are two different types of degrees in the BIT department. The first is the Associate Degree Program (in English) and the second is the Diploma program (in Arabic)All students need to take 19 credit hours of General Required Courses (GRC) for Associate degrees and the departmental core courses. For diploma they have to complete 10 credits of General Required Courses. The requirements for all programs are listed in the table below:

HRM 221: Human Resource Planning The purpose of this course is to enhance your awareness and un-derstanding of the importance and function of human resource management. Learn about ethical approaches to human resource management; how human resource management is affected by legal, global, and economic environments; and the importance of planning for, organizing, managing, and rewarding these “hu-man” resources, human resource management in Saudi Arabia, especially the hot issue of SAUDIZATION.

HRM 230: Management Information SystemIn this module, it is intended that the students get acquainted with the current practices of Human Resource Information Sys-tem (HRIS) in the work place. Students will be taught human resource information systems, system life cycle, planning and cost-benefit value analysis. In addition, group decision support systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), emerging trends

in HRIS and security control will be taught. Various types of human resource information required for management decisions using SAP ERP will be demonstrated.Prerequisites: CIT 200

HRM 240:Local and International Labor and Insurance RegulationsThis course aims to introduce the system of work in Saudi Ara-bia and its sources, nature and characteristics of legal rules. HIT 102: Organic Chemistry for Allied Health This Course is designed for specific allied health programs. It pro-vides students with knowledge of the fundamental principles of chemistry and organic chemistry with an emphasis on chemical bonding, structure and properties, states of matter, solutions, and acids and bases. History:The department was established in 2003 with the establishment of Jeddah Community College.

Prerequisites: FAOYCHIT 204: Anatomy and Physiology for Allied Health This course is a continuation of the study of the structure and function of the human body. Topics include circulatory, lym-phatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. Prerequisites: HIT 104

HIT 206: Microbiology concepts for Allied Health This course deals with microorganisms and their relationship to health. Topics include types of microorganisms. Prerequisites: HIT 104

Pharmacist Assistant Program: core coursesBIT 140: Principles of MarketingThis is an analysis of the marketing process and environment with regard to the product, pricing, distribution, and communi-cation in order to satisfy buyer needs. The course explains the importance of marketing planning, forecasting, and marketing research and information systems. Prerequisites: GRC 131BIT 141: Consumer BehaviourThis course introduces students to the application of concepts of behavioral sciences and various social sciences to the study of the factors that influence the acquisition, consumption and disposition of products, services and ideas. Topics include the role of the marketing manager and consumer response to actions. Prerequisites: BIT 140HIT 110: Medical and Pharmacy TerminologyThis is a study of prefixes, suffixes, word roots, combining forms, special endings, plural forms, abbreviations based on anatomy and physiology related to each of the body systems, drug stan-dards, sources, prescription symbols and abbreviations. Emphasis is placed on the spelling of drugs and the use of reference books. Prerequisites: GRC 112HIT 112: Introduction to Pharmacy Technology This course provides an overview of the qualifications, opera-tional guidelines, and job duties of a pharmacy technician. Top-ics include the history, structure, definitions of a pharmacy en-vironment, and the profile of a pharmacy technician, legal and ethical guidelines.Prerequisites: FAOYC

HIT 114: Pharmaceutical CalculationsThis course provides an introduction to the metric, avoirdupois, and apothecary systems of measurement and the calculations used in pharmacy practice. Topics include ratio and proportion, dosage determinations, percentage preparations, reducing and enlarging formulas, dilution and concentration. Prerequisites: GRC 001

HIT 116: PharmaceuticsStudents on this course learn various types of classical dosage forms as well as the most recent dosage forms such as tablets, capsules (hard capsules, soft capsules, microencapsules), sup-pository, injections (IV, IM, SC, ID), and cream. Prerequisites: HIT 112, HIT 114HIT 118: Pharmacology - IThis course provides an introduction to general principles of phar-macology. It includes an overview of drug nomenclature, dosage forms, administration routes, drug actions, and body responses. Prerequisites: HIT 104, HIT 110HIT-210: Pharmacy OperationsThe aim of this course is to familiarize pharmacy students with the day-to-day aspects of managing of pharmacy operations in different pharmacy systems. Topics include the procedures for prescription dispensing and drug distribution in the retail and hospital setting utilizing the computer, Inventory control, pack-aging and storage, use of drug information resources, and proper communication techniques. Prerequisites: HIT 116HIT 218: Pharmacology - II This course is a continuation of the study of the properties, ef-fects, and therapeutic value of the primary agents in the major drug categories. Topics include autonomic and central nervous system agents, anti-inflammatory agents, and anti-infective drugs. Prerequisites: HIT 118HIT 281: Hospital Pharmacy InternshipThis course is an application of pharmacy technician knowledge and skills in hospital settings. Maintenance of patient medication files and preparation of medications for unit stock distribution. Application of ethical and legal aspects to pharmacy practice. To-tal of 350 Hours Work experience. Prerequisites: HIT 210, HIT 218HIT 282: Community Pharmacy Internship (Co-op)This course is an application of pharmacy technician knowledge and skills in retail pharmacy settings.
