AN INTERNAL investigation against nine police officials arrested in Lydenburg is underway; they are currently not yet suspended pending the internal probe.The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General (Adv) Mark Magadlela told the community of Mpumalanga that he will never tolerate corruption. He said that all corrupt members must be dealt with by law.The arrest of the nine police officials stationed at the K9 Unit in Lydenburg is a sign that there is no room for corrupt cops within the Police.Eight of these members, Warrant Officer Joseph Mathebula (47), Constables Harry Madihlaba (43), Teddy Ngwana (39), Donald Shakoane (31), Samuel Sikhosana (33), Charles Mtwa (43) and Johannes Ndimande (33), were nabbed together with Sergeant Seepane Dilebo (38) on 11 August 2015.The Hawks pounced on them while they were attending a parade and accused them of corruption.The arrested members have since appeared before the

Lydenburg Magistrate's Court on the same day; they are now out on bail of R500 each and will be back in court on 16 September 2015. On their trial date, they are expected to be joined by Constable Elias Mokwana (37), who was arrested the previous week for the

same case. The arrest of these cops stems from allegations that they stopped a car and upon searching it found illicit cigarettes and R510 000 cash. They then locked the suspects at the back of the police van and drove them to an industrial area where it alleged that they took an amount of R50 000 from the confiscated money and gave the rest to the owners.However, the owners refused to take the money and reported the matter to the Hawks for further investigation.The Hawks are also expected to explore their investigations beyond this incident as it is alleged that these members are alleged to be part of a syndicate that escorts vehicles transporting illegal cigarettes in Lydenburg and other areas.The Provincial Commissioner said that police should learn that, even though amongst other duties they have to chase and apprehend criminals, if they themselves tap into the criminal world, they will be arrested because no one is above the law.

SA motorists have been urged to have an “add-on extra” to their car insurance policies to cover their vehicles during social upheavals.Short-term insurance specialist Warwick Scott-Rodger’s advice comes after vehicles were torched during several protests in Limpopo. At least 15 trucks, 12 light vehicles, a bus and a police armoured Nyala were set alight in three Limpopo towns since last month. Several police vehicles were also damaged when protesters pelted them with stones, police spokeswoman Colonel Ronel Otto said.CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIREAs the violent protests continued, motorists often became caught in the crossfire.Scott-Rodger, head of Dial Direct Insurance, urged drivers to ensure they were affiliated to the South African Special Risks Insurance Association (Sasria).It is a state-owned entity that provides insurance for damage incurred during politically motivated acts, political riots, terrorism, and non-political perils such as strikes and labour disturbances.Scott-Rodger said motorists should ensure Sasria cover was included in their policies. “If they’re not properly covered, their insurance company might reject claims for damage or loss incurred during a strike, civil unrest or protest.”He said Dial Direct automatically included Sasria in its car insurance policy as long as “your vehicle is financed, and you tell us this during the underwriting stage of your policy”.Scott-Rodger said that with Dial Direct Insurance, Sasria would add only R7 to the monthly premium.“If your car isn’t financed at the time of taking the policy, or if you’re insuring your house or home contents, then Sasria cover is optional. Die Kampioenskappe het plaasgevind vanaf 31Jul-2Aug op die Dr. EG Jansen sportterrein in Boksburg. Hier het die span teen verskeie skole meegeding om die titel. Skole soos Menlopark, Afrikaans Hoër Meisies, Duineveld, Klerksdorp, Durbanville en vele meer. Na twee dae van harde wedstryde het die span algeheel 16de in Suid-Afrika geëindig! Báie dankie aan elke ouer en borg wat ons deelname aan die kampioenskappe moontlik gemaak het.

Die naweek sal gerig wees op die Juniors se skietvernuf en oorlewings-tegnieke. The camp concentrates on all the facets of ethical hunting.
