“For the past two years, I have had the honor of serving as the United Way of Greater Lima Board Chair. Our United Way has been through changes to put us on a path to have a greater impact in our community to improve the lives of people we serve.

We adopted a new mission and vision with a focus on helping people reach a level of self-sufficiency. Our revised Strategic Plan is designed to DRIVE IMPACT to achieve self-sufficiency; ENGAGE current and future donors and GROW and diversify revenue.

Our Campaign was Co-Chaired by Bob Baxter, CEO of St. Rita’s Medical Center and Jay Bell of UAW 1219. Under their leadership, we focused on making personal connections with companies and individuals. We held our first Day of Caring as our Campaign Kick-off. It exceeded our expectations with 225 volunteers from companies that volunteered in various nonprofits around the community for the day. Volunteers were able to experience the great work that happens in our community to improve lives. We plan to make Day of Caring an annual event.

The Board adopted a new Community Investment process that streamlines the process and aligns community investment with our focus on self-sufficiency. United Way is uniquely positioned to bring people together to create real lasting change in community conditions. We have taken the necessary steps to begin to see positive change happen.

This Annual Report highlights our accomplishments of 2016. We are grateful for all of our donors, volunteers and partner agencies that have supported us and believe in the mission of United Way. We are making a difference and proud to serve our community.

As we look ahead, we are optimistic about what can be accomplished when we LIVE UNITED.”

Sincerely,

Larry Webb2016 Board ChairUnited Way of Greater Lima
