WHY GOLF? Managed properly (and that’s very key), the opportunities and

collaboration the game of golf provides can be a platform for incredible growth for PDYM. We’re not just running a golf outing as another means of raising funds.

Unless one is plain lucky there is no way to get in front of some of the most powerful influence in the world, many of whom live right in our area.

Comedian George Lopez said… “Golf taught me the things about life the father I never had should have should have taught me.” If we manage it properly, the principles of this great game can compliment what is already happening here at PDYM in amazing ways.

“To utilize, through a cutting edge business internship initiative, the teaching and holistic mentoring received by our PDYM youth which in turn will prepare them through practical experience to become productive ethical and moral contributors to commerce in America and abroad.”

Pathways Danbury Youth Ministries, Inc. (“PDYM”) (formerly Pathways Danbury) was formed in 1997 to mentor at risk boys in Danbury, Ct

Pathways Danbury Mentoring Ministry: Launched in 1997 as a Christ-centered, one-on-one mentoring ministry

Pathways Academy: Pathways Academy, Inc. opened its doors for middle-school-aged at-risk boys in September 2008,

S.A.Y. Yes! Youth Center: Launched in 2000 as an after-school tutoring and whole-life program

Naomi Mentoring Project for Girls: Launched November, 2011.

Going Forward

Discovery Stage

 Summer after 9th Grade

Students are led by a Life Coach through a program to discover who they are, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Approximately 10 students will be engaged each year in the Discovery Stage prior to their sophomore year in high school.

Goal Setting Stage

 

Summer after 9th Grade

Life Coach will meet with individual mentors to discuss mentee goals and assist the mentor in the coaching of their mentee. Each mentee will develop goals and an Action Plan for achieving them, assisted by their mentor, and reviewed by the Life Coach and Pathways Danbury Director.

Quarterly Goals Review Stages

 

Sophomore thru Senior Years

Mentors will review mentee Goals with the mentee quarterly and help develop corrective actions as required. All changes in goals and action plans are to be reported by the mentor to the Life Coach and the Pathways Danbury Director.

Mentee Skill Training Stage

 

During Junior/Senior Year

Mentees will be scheduled to attend courses:· PD Bible Study Worldview· Dale Carnegie and/or Toastmasters· Dress for Success

To begin getting the mentees suited up for the internship interview process.

 

Internship Stage

 

Senior Year

Mentees will be placed in internships with local companies via the Chamber of Commerce and contribute 40 hrs a year to a Jericho Ministry Partner.

To begin the practice of giving back. A major objective is to produce “givers to” rather than “takers from” society.

 

Maintenance Stage

 

Post High School

Quarterly coaching sessions and fellowships are provided. Students participate in community projects via Jericho Ministry Partners. All students are followed to ensure connectiveness with Pathways Danbury Church relationships are encouraged.
