Types of ILT:Overview
Type Features Advantages Main Disadvantages
Typical applications
FLYING INSECT KILLERHigh Voltage Grid unit
High voltage grid that “zaps”
Good to areas with high levels of activity
Unsuitable for areas involving food as insect fragments can be sent
airborne.
Noisy and off putting for public areas
Warehousing and outdoor areas with
high insect populations, refuse
areas
FLYING INSECT CATCHER
Control Board Unit
Captures flying insects “whole” on a sticky
control board
Ideal for any applications where
food safety is important.
Catch method is silent for discretion
In areas of extremely high insect activity
units with small control boards
Back of House units for Kitchens, food factories, food
preparation areas, food packaging
Front of house units for Café and restaurant
seating areas.
Jet Proof UnitInsect Killer or Catcher
IP rated units that are suitable for difficult
and demanding environments
Can be used in damp, wet, wash-down and
dusty areas
See above depending on whether HV grid or

Types of ILTs:High Voltage Units• Flies are killed by being electrocuted on
charged grids
• Insects fall into a catch tray, however fragments of insects can become airborne
• Avoid electrocutor traps in areas where food is served or prepared
• High voltage traps best used in warehouse situations or other sites where heavy flying insect activity is expected.
Electrocutors fragment insects and can contaminate food
Types of ILTs:Control board traps• Insects are captured “whole” on an adhesive control
board
• “Whole capture” reduces the potential for insect fragments to enter the atmosphere and food chain and offer the potential for flying insect identification and monitoring capability
• They provide silent catch (No Zapping) in customer areas
• Control boards require regular replacement
• Traps with low capacity (small catch area) should be avoided, particularly in areas of high insect activity
Types of ILTsControl board traps
• Jet Proof Units
• Either in High voltage or control board format.
• Used for wet, damp or wash down areas
• Always use with safety tubes
Generic applications:Front of house Vs. Back of house
