Day 1Our journey begins this morning with a cup of hot coffee and a snackserved by a professional Bianco Tour Director. After a lunch stop on ourown, we arrive at the Shrine of Christ’s Passion for a self guided tour.The Shrine is a beautiful, interactive half-mile winding pathway setamidst 15-acres of artfully landscaped grounds reflecting the timeperiod of Jesus Christ. Here we’ll find 40 life-size bronze figuresdepicting the life of Jesus Christ from the Last Supper to His gloriousAscension. Dramatic music provides a powerful backdrop for guests asthey journey along this inspirational prayer trail creating an intimateenvironment for mental, physical and spiritual renewal. At each scenewe’ll find listening stations featuring pre-recorded descriptions andshort meditations by the famous Chicago broadcast journalist BillKurtis. Dinner will be included this evening at Teibel’s Restaurantfollowing check in at our local hotel. In 1929, Martin and StephenTeibel established a tradition at the Crossroads of America. Thebrother’s famous Northwest Indiana restaurant began as a simple 12-seat highway diner where locals and travelers alike enjoyed freshsandwiches and delicious fried chicken. As the word spread from coastto coast, Teibel’s Family Restaurant grew into a midwest institution.Although there are more than 12 seats in the restaurant today, customersstill enjoy the same home cooked goodness that made them famous allthose years ago. The remainder of the evening is ours to enjoy.

Day 2Our breakfast at the hotel this morning is includedprior to departing for the Carmelite Father’s Shrine.Founded by Polish Carmelite Friars in the early1950’s, these shrines have attracted visitors ever sincewith their beauty and the message preached by thefathers and brothers who live and work here. TheCarmelites served as chaplains for the Polish FreeArmy in World War II but fled the country after itbecame a Soviet satellite. Secluded from the outsideworld by a wall of evergreen trees, the monasterydraws faithful from throughout Northwest Indiana andChicago each Sunday for masses in English, Polishand Latin. The grounds have an arboretum and anabundance of places to rest and reflect. There arenearly two dozen shrines on the six acres, includingstunning chapels and grottos. They are built withsponge rock and stone, and adorned with crystals andother stones. When the sun hits them at certain angles,the rocks seem to move. Special lighting is used toenhance the magical appearance. A guided tour, massand lunch are included here before departing for homethis afternoon reflecting on our spiritual pilgrimage.
